    OK you left to avoid the fast paced stressful life in America. I moved to Thailand for essentially the same reason. I'm a retiree with plenty of income to live in the US but SE Asia but is much more relaxed. Part of that is just being physically distant from the US. In my case, because there is limited English language speaking in Thailand, it is a little like unplugging from social media. In a foreign country you are very much aware that the people around you just are not thinking about the crap going on in the US. But mostly it is the live for today relaxed culture. America is a great place to be to make money but once you've made it then it is worth the effort to give other places a serious look.

    What else you can ask for Mr. Jasper? having a $1500 budget in the Philippines will be good enough to survive and live happily as a single man compared to the high standard of living in the west right? I guarantee you, Filipinos will treat you not only as foreign visitors but as permanent residents. The Philippines was then colonized by the United States in 1898 after the Spanish-American War. The Philippines was a colony of the United States until 1946 when it gained its independence. So staying in the Philippines is just like you're in America right?, with no language barrier, no stress, no anxiety, no boredom ness just have fun and laughter, enjoy your travel and adventurous trips in the countryside live to the fullest, and just enjoy your stay in the Philippines, life is too short. so just enjoy life, Good Luck & GOD Bless.

    I'm often amused that the American's that live abroad seem to need to include the qualifier to assure everyone that they still love their country and still feel its awesome.
    Never a need to do such, or else it isn't worth it just to assure those still stuck with the idea that top of the pyramid is the USA, and need to hear oaths sworn and allegiances affirmed to assert the idea of this.
    You are out there living your life on a level of freedom, affordability, and options you could not do at home. Many of us are oxen pulling the plow just to tread water with the high rate of living and the growing stress, expenses, and obligations we have either created or are obliged to account for.
    For folks that have found a way to actually spend their life living their life to their own benefit and advantage.. good on ya! No qualifiers necessary.
    At the 9-minute mark, you said it clearly.
    Find happiness. Live free. Lower that stress. Give that sigh of contentment and relief... let your belly out and put a cold beer on it while lounging on a chair with the sand between your toes!

    boracay is a paradise, but the restos were a bit pricey (especially the beachfront area)
    though there are relatively cheaper ones outside
    boracay is truly a "perfect vacation place" (for short duration only)
    cebu, for me, is quite strategic
    it is closer to bohol, siquijor, negros, siargao, camiguin, bantayan, malapascua, sumilon and even boracay (mostly touristy areas)
    and there's alot more
    in cebu, you can ride a ferry or a fast craft and you arrived at the paradise destination after 2 hours or so
    plus, some medical facilities, media/technological infrastructure, modern amenities, big malls in cebu were now comparable to manila (unlike 3 decades ago)
    for me, cebu is a place that's not left behind in travel bug's list

    • @JasperinthePhilippines
      @JasperinthePhilippines  Год назад

      I disagree Boracay’s home to me, but I can see how many would feel that it’s just a vacation place. I was there for three weeks didn’t wanna leave and now I’m going back immediately for a year. I met some guys that have been there for a decade, and they said it’s something you never wanna leave just walking on the beach all day riding my new bicycle from end to end of the island is the perfect life for me. I didn’t really like Cebu. I don’t need to be strategically near all these things like to just get somewhere that’s paradise and relax there. But to each their own. ♥️

      yes, boracay is a paradise in itself
      cebu's bantayan island, malapascua island, moalboal and mactan island may have a bit of a boracay vibe, but not really close to that
      alona beach of panglao in bohol is closer to the boracay vibe, but a smaller version
      anda's beach of bohol may be comparable to boracay's, but not really close
      probably, general luna of siargao is closer to boracay in some sense, but i see siargao as "the little bali" of the philippines (minus the temples)
      paliton beach of siquijor is also not left behind in the race
      for me, cebu's sumilon island, leyte's kalanggaman island & camiguin island, may not be comparable to boracay, but they're laid back paradise islands that have "a world of its own" feel
      boracay has a "bgc vibe" that cannot be found or copied anywhere else in the philippines or southeast asia
      yes, it's like putting "bgc vibe" in the heart of an island, and that's boracay

    But without the US and its stress and long hours, it's military service benefits, it's money making machine, no one would be living in the Philippines. It's that work and money making ability that got the expats to the Philippines in the first place. Those beaches and ocean look wonderful, but I have all that in Florida and the retirees here have a wonderful life. The only place I would visit is Vietnam, purely for the food , best in the world imo and the sweet people. Thank you for not dissing the US. It's done a lot of good around the world.

    • @JasperinthePhilippines
      @JasperinthePhilippines  Год назад +3

      Paid 170 for the year walked around for seven days straight getting told 65,000 50,000 45,000 for a 10 m² finally found something on station three had to pay the year upfront but it’s 170 so that’s about 14,100 a month so that’s about 250 bucks. It’s not anything fancy but it’s oceanfront basically and it is probably a bit larger than my BGC place. Just an old nice little place king size bed, great shower with the little Fossett to wash your feet off when you come in from the beach , bidet, kitchen fridge. I’m happy. If you just go there and you look hard enough you can find deals but yeah they’ll be having you thinking it’s 65,000 to live anywhere decent because you’re white and it’s a tourist destination.

  • @haku0103

    If you wanna save more, go to Quezon City, it's cheaper modern and suburban vibes. BGC is expensive and it's just a 30 min ride with Grab (considering the traffic). Most locals would just visit BGC to party, the ones who stay there are usually who have jobs in the area. If you're not gonna stay in bgc most of the time anyway, it's a waste of money. Metro Manila (bunch of cities clustered together) is relatively small compared to the big cities of America. You can easily jump from one city to another at a fraction of a cost.
