This was very helpful. The bite size reading part… mine can read but suffers in spelling and flips numbers and letters. Thanks

I’m currently accepting that my youngest just doesn’t like learning the traditional classroom way. He likes learning things if he doesn’t feel we are “starting school”. I do think I did too much in the first years of homeschooling and I was stressed too. It goes against my nature to not use the words like school but I’m encouraged you think there isn’t just one way to educate our kids. My child also has behavioral issues at church during their school like class on Sunday mornings. Any advice? I was asked to go to class with them for a couple of weeks.

I would definitely go sit in on Sunday school and see what the structure is! If they are expecting him to sit quietly and color a page and listen to a Bible story and don’t have any opportunity to play and move, then it might be that it is just too formal and structured and he needs to be able to move more. You may find that for a season you need to just sit in the back of the main service and bring him with you so that he can play quietly and move instead of being expected to do something he’s not developmentally able to do yet.
If you haven’t taken time to deschool yourself, I definitely would encourage you to spend time doing that because it will definitely help!
