Thank you for your very clear explanation. I've learned a few languages before, but they are all Roman or Germanic languages, and a transition from one to another does not have to start fro scratch. Coming to Greek is a different journey for me. I feel like an illiterate who learns how to read the first time ever. I am slowly getting better, and as you rightly said, it takes patience.
Γεια σας Michael! Είμαι Βραζιλιάνα και μου αρέσει πολύ την Ελληνική γλώσσα. Μαθαίνω την Ελληνική γλώσσα και "discovered"το κανάλι σας σήμερα. Σας ευχαριστώ που κάνετε αυτή τη δουλειά. Θα είμαι πάντα εδώ για σας βλέπω. 😉
love your pronunciation! your channel will get big. keep up the good work. recently just visited an orthodox monastery, realized the prayers and chaning were all doing in modern pronunciation, smooth and beautiful and natural. not like what we were taught in school erasmian, which sounds robotic and fake. keep it up. love your content!!! ♥
Mary, I'm glad you found this helpful. Yes, the whole liturgical life in the Orthodox Church is done with Modern Greek pronunciation ("received pronunciation") - just as speakers in Greece pronounce the language today!
Hey, Michael! Nice videos you have made so far. Love them. I tried to look for your website, but it does not let me in, is there any trouble with it right now?
Dear Imani, I'm glad you found the channel! Now that you've laid some foundations, it's definitely a smart move to keep practicing and growing. If you want to connect with our community of learners, check out thegreekacademy.com. It's kind of like Facebook for Greek, and our next live meetup is this Monday!
So good to find your channel ; Michael I have a question .. can you explain the rules of proper spelling of words ? How to write in correct spelling .. or should we learn spelling by “ heart”? Χίλια ευχάριστο
Hi Can I please add a translation in Hebrew? Many Israelis learn Hebrew. Did you know that there are about 2000 Greek words in the Hebrew language? thank you very much
I too am 76 and I love the Greek language and felt so welcomed when I visited a few years ago. I get mixed up with a couple of the alphabet but strive to learn. I don’t know where this passion has come from, but I’m so enjoying learning. I absolutely love this channel, Michael is such a good teacher and has a lovely voice. Looking forward to many more very helpful videos, ευχαριστώ
@@LanniePeyton I am 62 and just starting, having found this wonderful channel, step by step, not in a hurry, just for love. I hope to go to Greece once again and try out my knowledge.
