Whistlespeak was ok. Mirrors was mostly ok. I think I'm done with mirrorverse episodes in Trek, though.
Why every star trek series feels it necessary to throw one in is beyond me. I think the last time it was done well was DS9. And, fwiw, I loved the idea of O'Brien trying to steal the Defiant(or was it build his own? Or both?). Incidentally, the Defiant is probably my favorite ship.
Back to these episodes...to put it delicately, Tilly does not an endurance athlete make. Absolutely horrible choice.
The prime directive violation and shattering this Culture's religious belief was treated as an afterthought. I did like the reassurance that Burnham gave saying that the technology shown doesn't mean there are no gods. It was nice. But the whole thing was a bit too cavalier. The only saving grace(see what I did there?) was that a different alien race interfered with this pre-warp society centuries ago and created what is essentially a cult of human sacrifice. And if Burnham really is called to task for this, that's the angle she should argue.
