The Ringo Starr solo years 10 min doc I didn't know I needed but I did. True Beatles fans don't hold back on cutting their heroes down to size. Ringo was nothing but a nub by the end of this essay.
I saw or heard an interview with John Lennon talking about post-Beatle life & he said he was worried about Ringo. “I’m not gonna worry about Paul, he’ll be alright… but I do worry about Ringo”. I often wondered about Ringo’s share of the Fab Four’s riches, seeing as how songwriting royalties played a big part in creating it. Various web sites state Ringo is the wealthiest drummer of all time, with an estimated $350million fortune - so I guess he’s done OK!
Really cool video! I didn't know that much about Ringo but it was really interesting to see what happened and most importantly why. Actually really remarkable, being one of THE all-time legends of music and at the same time being so challenged by nothing ever topping that. I'm glad he's doing okay now. I've been wondering for a while what it feels like for a musician to lose listeners. Like, do they say: "I guess my music is shit now" or "I guess the people don't get it anymore". I guess it depends huh.
You've done Mister Starkey proud Simon I actually had no idea that you were going to do any material about the Beatles individually. This is the best damn start yet. I am proud. If I had the money to add to your patreon I would it's funny though. It's really expensive going blind and fighting blindness. It was worth waiting two weeks for this video. Many thanks, sal.
Ringo narrated “the point” cartoon …”Thomas “….sang George Harrison’s “photograph “ , Lennon’s “I’m the greatest “ and let’s not forget “a little help from my friends “ from a great lil album …ringo had some of the most iconic drum fills of all time ….ie a day in the life…..being mediocre ? Not so sure I get your point . I think ringo was and is and was a great entertainer ….he also came up with titles for beatle songs “a hard days night” …..he’s freakin amazing . Long live ringo
You did watch the video, right? The point, that you seem to have missed, is that Ringo was a great drummer. Shame about his songwriting and voice, but you can’t have everything. That’s the man’s curse. That he tried repeatedly to grab at something beyond his reach and it made him unhappy.
To be fair…some of his acting is quite good. His turn in ‘That’ll be the Day’ is a genuinely good performance (in a genuinely good film) and he’s quite decent in ‘The Magic Christian’.
You forgot to mention Ringo Starr's narration of Thomas the tank engine and friends.

I left out the success of “It Don’t Come Easy, Photograph, Only You, The No No song, etc

I’d be interested to see what he makes of Lennon’s “Lost Weekend”

Great video. I thought Ringos "Caveman" was hilarious.
Ringo never quit drumming just because he starting singing more. Also, his singing wasn't really bad just limited.

It’s kind of hilarious how this entire video is filmed inside of a closet.
I think it's very hilarious. It's almost as if he's trying to entertain us.
9:48 funny enough my Uncle looks exactly and sounds very similar to Ringo, doesn't act like him or have the money his though
We can be tankful that Thomas the Tank Engine tanked in a good way and stayed on track one side two. That what I tank.
The Curse of Ringo Starr 2259pm 29.6.23 whatever you do, ringo, dont fork off!!! ok....
News from inside a closet
Legend
CURSE YOU FISHOF!!!
Why is this guy in his closet.
Because he was evicted from his Shoebox in the middle of the `M1`.
Why are you whispering and hiding in a closet! Is your gf a lover of Ringo and your jealous? Jealousy is human!
