Love them all. Plicatums are my favorite viburnum and I have a few I have planted I the last 3 years. I just love the layering with the blooms held on top. I have a tree form of diablo only planted last year and I enjoy seeing the bark. But, I don't have a sycamore and yours is gorgeous. Love the color and, I agree, after 800 years, it well deserves asylum, lol. So many glorious plants and I want them all, too bad I don't have enough space. :) another favorite tree is parrotia persica. I bought one mail order and it arrived just a few inches tall. After the description in the catalog I was so dismayed. But I planted it in a large pot and now, 3 or so years later, it is still in the pot, but several feet tall and I am in love with it. The leaves in spring are sublime and the fall color is wonderful. I think I will give it at least 1 more year in the pot because it would break my heart to plant it out and lose it. How is your birch grove doing this spring? Oh, to answer your question, first day of summer is June 21, so still a month or so away.

How tall is that Viburnum John? Most web shops say they only get to 6'!

June 21st is the first day of summer in the northern hemisphere. Do I get 10 points for that?

Ya, I was wondering about that, if he was talking about, I don't know, a "gardener's" summer, or something? Cause, yeah, official summer is five weeks away.

I put Lady in Red, Physocarpus in my East garden. It was loosing it's color and the leaves were crisping up. I immediately put it into a cooler of water. I'm left with (3) more quadrants: North, West, and South. Where does Lady in Red like to be? Is she a swamp plant? Does she like acid or alkaline soil?

Soil I find doesn't matter, but it prefers shade to hot sun, just my experience 👍👍
