  • In projects that range from the scale of the residential block to the master plan, Marina Tabassum prioritizes climate, materials, site, culture, and local history in order to counteract what she finds impersonal and confused in architecture globally. Her Bait Ur Rouf Mosque is a case in point: built over the course of twelve years with a minuscule budget, it is distinguished by its lack of popular mosque iconography, its emphasis on materials, space, and light, and its capacity to function not only as a place of worship but also as a meeting room, school, and playground for an underserved community on Dhaka’s periphery. Tabassum, a graduate of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, founded Dhaka-based Marina Tabassum Architects in 2005 after ten years as a partner and cofounder of URBANA in Dhaka. She has taught and lectured widely and is currently academic director of Bengal Institute for Architecture, Landscapes, and Settlements. In 2016 she was one of six architects to receive the Aga Khan Award for Architecture.

Very interesting! Amazing to know how responsive architecture can be! As for the mosque, I wonder how those perforated walls that let in those beautiful lights resist rain water to come in! Skillful manipulation of light and shade, along with ventilation, also has a lot of potentialities to make the living space more comfortable thermally, that eventually reduces the energy demand of the building. It was pleasant to know about the environmental concerns of the architect. Best wishes to her.

Allāh (SWT) completed and perfected the deen of Islam and gave no one the authority to change it, including Mr Karim the fraudster.
Ismaili greeting - “Ya Ali Madad” (‘O Ali help me’) and their supplications to “Ali” and “the Imam” - which they interchangeably use to supplicate to the Aga Khan, prove without a doubt, that they do not subscribe to that part of the Kalimah “that none has the right to be worshipped except Allāh.” Here they contradict themselves too, as they recite in their Holy Du’a, “You alone (Allāh) we worship and from you alone we seek help” The Aga Khan, has also the title “Mazhar of Allāh” meaning he is the “Shadow of Allāh” on earth. I leave it to you to decide how can Allāh, who has no perceivable shape or form, have a light shining upon Him to form a shadow on this Earth and what proof is there in Aga Khan’s claim that he is that shadow? As far as salat is concerned, Ismailis try to put a smoke screen saying that their Dua’ is like Namaaz
Ismailis do not pay Zakat. Instead, the Aga Khan claims Dasond - Tithe - 10 per cent of one’s income regardless of whether that income is sufficient or insufficient for one’s needs!
In the case of Khoja Ismailis, he also claims an additional ‘two and a half per cent’ contributions because he has given himself the role of a pir or dai.
The actual Islamic Zakat as prescribed by the Quran is payable on “surplus wealth” i.e. excluding necessities such as a home for residing in and a vehicle for transport held for 12 months at 2.5% only which means that poor people are exempted from paying and the monies collected are to be spent on those qualified e.g. poor, widows, etc. as specified in the Qurʾān.
Hajj is neither compulsory nor encouraged in Ismailism. Instead, Ismailis believe that the glimpse of Aga Khan is equal to that of a Hajj. Every Ismaili should look at the Aga Khan (or perform a deedar) at least once in a lifetime.
Fasting is not obligatory and at times eating (sukhreet) and drinking holy water - Niyaz which are part of the rituals on Fridays and certain Majalis (congregations additional to daily religious rituals are performed) take place during the time of fasting!
To be truthful, logic and rationality are sorely lacking in Ismaili rituals. They say, “Ya Ali Ya Nur Mowlana Shah Karim Al Husseini tun salwatji tasbih toje hazur pur mein kabool kar” - (O Ali, O Light of our Lord Shah Karim Al Husseini accept our supplication)! In one of the Hymn (also called ‘ginans’) recited in the Jamatkhanas, they even sing to the Aga Khan:
“Haq toon, Paak Toon Baadshah” Translated means “You are the Truth, you are the Holy, O Lord (King)”
These attributes of Truth and Holy (Haqq and Quddus in Arabic) belong to Allāh (SWT) and Him alone. However, Ismailis attribute these to Aga Khan, my Ismailies brothers and sisters please wake up and do not fall into the trap of imposter Mr Karim Aga Khan who will drag you all to the hell-fire.

Jumpin jahosaphat Batman - I KNOW I just know I saw you telling about the religion that has something to do with a cow? Not disrespectful - seriously it was a cow well maybe a bull - the king wanted the cow/bull instead of just taking its gifts - and the cow/bull he told his men to take him as the Sha(?) told him no- then the cow I think he finally ate the king 🤔 she tells it much better- darn wish I remembered what video on here I watched!
