THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! For posting this video!!! My hair is wavy too, tends to hold a lot of frizz, and never stays clean/no flyaways when I put it up. For some reason (it seems so simple now....lol), I never thought of using product on the top BEFORE I put it in a bun or ponytail.

Thank you so much! I’m a cadet in the Civil Air Patrol and although we are allowed to put our hair in a ponytail or braid now I still love putting mine in a bun because I still think it looks more professional. The issue is I’m not good at doing hair and I have a hard time doing it in a way that stays put and stays nice for a long time. I will probably be using the braided one from now on.
This was a godsend. I was struggling so much getting no flyaways and the mousse trick seemed to work better than the gel by itself. The splitting into two and doing the braids made it so much faster. My hair is layered so I used to try to use the donut but all of the layer would stick out and it would never be smooth. The braids made it easy to gel out the layer and smooth it all. Thankkk you

thanks so much ! im not in the military but i am in rotc, yesterday we had to bring buns with the uniform for the football game and i never knew how to do a bun so my friend did it for me in the morning, and we’re probably gonna be having our hairs in buns quite often this year and i don’t wanna depend on people to do it for me anymore so thanks !

Does your hair get damaged from being wet all the time? I’m pretty sure mine would. I feel like Marine hair regs are stricter than the Navy’s? Or so it seems I’m not in the military but I have family in the Navy.
I've been able to maintain pretty healthy hair throughout my journey in the Marines. I just use a lot of leave in conditioner to keep it healthy. But no, it hasn't really done much damage. I make sure to wash out the products everyday as well.
Navy girl here, I've actually found that putting my hair in a bun has made my hair healthier? But before the navy I used to do tennis out in the sun all day, so my hair was very dry. The bun is a very protective hairstyle if you do it right and treat your hair normally on the weekends.
And yes, the navy is way less strict on hair than the marines haha.

Any tips for baby hairs? I have a bad natural hairline where it’s the heart hairline but one side has less hair kind of like jojo siwa but not that extreme. I don’t want it to look funky especially cause I’m white.

During boot are they stricter on hair in the bun? My hair is just touching my shoulders and I have a few fly a ways.
My hair was very short when I went to bootcamp and I was able to pull off a bun lol
If it’s not long enough to tie it back depending on your platoon they might make you cut it short short.

Question: for the 1st/2nd techniques, when you tuck the first strand of braided/twisted hair away, do you tuck it under your hair tie? Where does it go?
Hey!! No I would just kinda just lay it there since my hair was short compared to other people, Once I put the second part is when I secured it with the hair tie. However if your hair is long you can secure it with a Bobby pin or put a hair tie on that first braid/strand and then do another hair tie to secure it more! Hopefully that helps!!
What mousse/ hair gel do you recommend? I use göt2b and i tried doing this and I’m telling you the RATS NEST my hair looked
I used the Tresemme mousse and it worked wonders along with a lot of hairspray! The “moco de gorrilla gel” is also very good!!
Im leaving for boot camp this sunday/ monday , i have long thick hair but its layered so as you can imagine, alot of hair sticks out of the buns. I want to cut it to one even length but as the same time i want to keep it long. Advice?
Ariluci honestly doing your hair in bootcamp is a hassle, especially for those with long hair. So many girls end up cutting their hair there but they dont do a good job. If your hair looks messy, the drill instructors might give you a hard time. If i were you id try to get a cut just to try to make as even as possible. Youre hair will grow back. Dont stress it girl!!

You can purchase a donut bun but the sock buns are handmade ! You can look it up on RUclips
They have a lot of options at target/Walmart and sometimes you need to make a few trips to find your hair color
You should clarify you hair with clarifying shampoo every other wash day or once every 1 to 2 weeks

You can get a smaller donut or a sponge foam roller bun maker. I have the same problem with my hair since mine is thin.
Gently tease your hair. That might help. Also find a bun that closely matches your hair color.

No, there’s no limit. However there are regulations because in place for all types of hairstyles/lengths!

Gotta use a lot of gel and hairspray to get them out of your face. You can technically have them out but I wouldn’t during bootcamp cause you’re gonna want everything out your face

All military personnel should be treated equally. Females that do the same job as their male counter parts should also receive the same pay. Yet that is not true. Females can retain some of their hair, when male soldier must keep their clean cut. All soldiers should maintain the same hair style, that is crew cut. Male soldiers are being discriminated against.
