Honestly, if I were getting into synthesis all over again, I would buy myself one nice analog hardware synth to learn the basics, and then just devote my time to learning and exploring Pigments. There is literal years worth of terrain to explore there, and I imagine most people barely scratch the surface unless they spend a long time using it. With the modal engine you now have pretty much every type of synthesis available to you: classic subtractive, digital wavetable/waveshaping, FM, sampling, granular, harmonic (additive), and now physical modelling.
@@montazownianr1. Thing is with pigments it can sound like a lot of stuff but it’s not cold when you get your head around it. Often the reviews don’t do it justice.
And you don't even need an analog synth. Modern synths with NCOs often have ridiculous sample rates that you'd need to be an alien to even hear the difference--all the precision of digital with the sound of analog. You can learn the basics with Syntorial.
After every Pigments update I get blown away and use it a ton for a week and then I forget about it for some reason 🤔 Gotta make a note to really dig into it this time.
Great work I discovered this recently excellent cinematic tool , sound design , with modal I don’t need the iridium , not that it sounds the same but provides enough overlap to cover ,
INCREDIBLY stupid decisions during designing of the workflow! 🤯 No PAN control of each sound source! Can you imagine that? Panorama control occurs ONLY inside Filters 🤡 Inability to modulate all Effects' parameters. No Uni/Bipolar modulation switching without switching the modulator itself. It's the same prob of Phase Plant but there you can easily solve it by duplicating modulator as many times as it's necessary. Idiotic "send effects" invention. It's worth better to make larger amount of Effects, like 5-6 in FXA and 5-6 in FXB. No Midi Random modulation - a common modulation that randomizes a parameter with each note but without deep adjustments, really often feature but there's none of it and INSTEAD they strewed a handsome of zero-useful Combinate modulators 🤡 No Modulation Remapping!!! HUGE fail of Frenchies 🤦🏻♂ I'm not even telling of inverted Modulation Remapping which is implemented in Vital, can be made in Phase Plant and seemingly is OUT of any comprehension by such "whales" like Arturia, u-He or overhyped Minimal Audio. 😑
Pigments is one of my fave synths. And the update was a surprise 👍

I hear you on that one. 👌🏻
No need Pigments, sounds so cold and digital, that hurts my ears :D Lot of posibilities and result is cold sound :(

What would you consider a nice hardware synth with your expertise looking back to advise that tidbit?

Thanks for the walk through Matt. This update was a pleasant surprise and sounds great.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I have a lot of hardware synths but Pigments rivals them all. Love it. This free updates are so awesome.
Brilliant update ❤
really nice demo thanks!

Awesome, thank you! Yes it’s a very very cool synth and sound design tool.
This looks great!
Arturia have a great software synth here. It covers a wide range of synthesis types with an intuitive GUI
🙌
Alright I guess I will have to release more soundbanks for it this year :)
Do it! 🕺
The Vocoder is so rich, maybe could literally use it as a noise mask thing for mastering instead of noise or pink noise
Yeah, im gonna try get a live audio source into it somehow.
