As a journeyman carpenter it’s important to use the three and a half inch screws, because they are going through the wood in the door frame and into the 2x6 trim studs that are behind them.
My dad taught me to use deck screws for the frame, lock plates and hinges of doors specifically to get at those studs just as a matter of course. It wasn't until my mid thirties I realized it made a door damn difficult to break down.
And hopefully not through any electrical wiring.
They need to be steel screws too, and a reinforcement plate is recommended.
That's what they did in medieval times. History is our best teacher. Google 'medieval door barricades'.
Back then they were allowed to defend themselves with weapons, including swords and Firearms. If you do something like that, now you’re going to prison for the rest of your life and the guy that broke in your house he’s just getting put on probation, if that. Protect your right to defend yourself, especially with firearms here in America. Protect/defend the second amendment.

Exactly!
Google windows and glass patio doors. LOL

If you're using this on an interior door, be sure to install a better door instead of the standard hollow-core door used in most construction.
Not a real world test if the door frame is moving you're not getting the proper resistance to break the door down
100 percent agree
Yep this guy doesn't understand physics, what a joke.
He is the butt boy of Shark Tank Daymond John who bankrolled his lame “I am a ex-CIA Officer” shtick. This guy is a three dollar shyster !!!
I opened the comments to say this.
Im far less impressed if I find out someone works for the CIA now
Make sure you replace all screws on your hinges inside frame and on the door with 3 to 3 1/2 inch screws …that will help with holding the hinges side of the door from from being kicked in, and also replace the screws where the door knob is and bolt with the same screws
PREACH! First thing I did at our new house
@@BrandonWAndrews ya it’s ridiculous how they build a home and we know the door is the main entry into a house and yet they install a door with 1 inch screws ….lol all the way around and are not long enough to screw into the frame ..they make it the weakest point and it should be the strongest with a metal frameing , because our doors in America on homes are a joke
Is there any certain type of screw ideally? Or is the 3" length the primary factor? Thanks!
A simple loud bicycle alarm, one can install it with velcro so iy can be removed for battery replacement. Install the alarm six inches or so above the lock, the moment anyone tries to jiggle the lock it will give a loud warning, sometime that is sufficient to scare the thieves. No it will not keep anyone from coming in but the loud noise will most certainly wake you up, and give you time to get that revolver (they don't jam) and call 911 if necessary.
The bar is a great idea, I have a custom made beautifully designed metal door, which I had done 30 years ago, it will cost me a fortune to have it made today. But if you rent or don't want or can't afford a security door this bar is the answer. The danger with home invasion is what will happen to you if you are home.
Totally agree. Automatics are crap.
There’s another deterrent. Rottweilers…No screws needed, but you do have to feed them.
... and well trained & evil yet very loyal to their Master & family PitBulls.
I love both Breeds including Mastiffs.
I'm in NY, I have something similar and it's "supposedly" illegal in case of a fire. I use it anyway.
Now, that being said, Amazon has sold 1200 of these with 4.5 stars.

So, for all those gurus that have commented below with negative remarks, do the world a favor, and don't lock your doors. Please post your address too.
On a 6 dollar budget In a pinch you grab a battery drill with a 5/8th bit, masonry or standard depending on your floor type. Drill a hole 6 inch from the opening edge in the floor an inch from the door. Then drop a heavy duty screw driver into the hole and that hardens a door fast and discreetly. Most of the home Invaders in Florida are sitting in urns somewhere 🤭😂🤪🇺🇲

In Florida, residential doors open out.
@CarlosRuiz-ue9rb No they don't 🤭😂🤪🇺🇲
It's on Amazon for 98.95 incase anyone was interested
Thanks, I'm not. There are cheaper options that do a similar thing.
It's $10 cheaper on their website but you can make it for about $10-20 if you do it yourself
Way over priced... Plus u can't use it while ur gone which is when most break in occur
I’m using a few MasterLock Security Bars for about $27.00 each and they’re pretty good when I tested them.
Thank you. This is the comment I was looking for. 😊
It's probably a good idea to install one of these on the side-door of your garage if you have one. In my locale, there's been burglaries where burglars have gained entry just because people get lackadaisical about locking that door. It also tends to be a cheap door with a cheap doorknob and easy to kick in.
NICE! Lowes has BRACKETS for door bars-2x4s cut to fit... very STOUT! m
That’s what I did top and bottom of my doors
USA, Don Norton's "Door Cop" from the 1970's was the best. It wedged the doorknob to the floor, using an adjustable fulcrum.
I watched this product reviewed and tested by another prepper channel (Canadian Prepper) and he had to absolutely destroy the door to get in. Ironically, the "Dorricade" survived in place even after the bottom of the door was bent inward like a doggy door. Two of these would have stopped everything short of a dedicated attack by the Fire Department.
I promise you Canadian Prepper makes money off every purchase. He had transitioned from an informative, albeit alarmist, channel to a sales organization years ago. I no longer subscribe to him and haven't for a long time. Be careful of his content. This product is point spot on to my advice of caution. It may be effective, but there are other cheaper, easier to use, and invisible options that work just as good.
A bar across the door. Absolutely revolutionary. 😂
Modern problems require Dark Ages solutions 👍
If it ain't broke don't fix it
True if you have strong door frames.
Only protects when you're home.
We made our own version of this a year ago using iron pipes. This is a good idea. Now let’s come up with something for our windows.
They're called bars... work great
A good window film will slow them down. Use layers at every point of entry to slow them down or deter them. I like to use metal security screen doors, motion activated lights along with other things I'm not going to mention here.
I seen police and bad guys kick the bottom of the doors to get in, it’s wise to use 2 of these , bottom and middle range
Yes thats makes sense
Why not 3?
My grandma has 7 on her front door.
She just uses the back one these days…it’s faster.
Most new houses have metal front doors here in Ca. 3 1/2" screws all around into the door frames and a decent dead bolt that cannot be picked.
We need a vertical 1 to give top to bottom strength.
For same effectiveness and fewer bucks - use a chain and a pair of long hook and eyes that can be screwed deep into the frame. The chain can be fixed at one side and just hang there when not engaged. I install the fixed eye on the handle side and the hook on the hinge side... making it pretty much jimmy-proof. The whole frame would need to be destroyed before the door is kicked in. Trust me. It works - long enough to take additional actions to defend your castle.
Home invasion happens every 15 seconds but thankfully I can reach my 12 ga and load it in 10 seconds 😂
Keep it loaded.

If you are really worried about install 2 of them top and bottom...
You guys should come see how we lock the doors in Africa with iron bars 😂

An iron bar with pads so the door doesn’t get scratched, nice-thank you.
That's fine and all and I'm sure the device would discourage breakage but your test is flawed because most of the force you're exerting upon that door is being dissipated around the frame and through the moving base. Sorry - physics major :)
I'm no physist, but I could see that test was a bit flawed.
Thanks for putting that into words.
I have a different attitude about someone breaking into my house.

Exactly right. Failed example. Good product tho
You needa strong door frame as well .
Yeah same.
Replacing all door latch bolts to 3 inches helps too
Excellent! Whether it's used on an exterior or interior door, it should be a "solid core" door, not a hollow one. Many builder grade interior doors can be fragmented or destroyed by solid, repeated kicking.
Thanks for the info Barry!God bless you
Simple, yet effective. Told my elderly mother about it, she's scared of home invasions.
Very much so. I highly recommend this for everyone. Especially that particular population.
The problem with the elderly and disabled (this includes my spouse) is that with door bolted like this,
it may be impossible for the EMTs to enter if the disabled cannot get to the door to remove the barricade.
@@seascape35 They, with the Fire Department will enter through a window.
@@seascape35an IV bag, some det cord and duct tape for entry. Easy peasy. 😎
Also make sure that at the latch side of the door frame you replace the screws with 3" screws BUT, take off the trim and shim the jamb BEFORE installing and tightening down those new screws. If you do not shim the latch side, when you tighten down the longer screws into structure, it will pull your jamb away from the door, widening the gap and possibly making your lock and deadbolt ineffective!
Make sure you use framing strength screws or they will snap off too easily!
If all of this sounds too hard, it should not cost much to have a handyman do this for you.
To shim the door jamb, what kind of wood should you use? So that when you install longer screws for the deadbolt lock plates, the door-to-frame gap Doesn't get wider when you tighten the screws? Do you make your own? Seems the shims sold in stores are soft wood...
Underrated comment, should be near the top
You coming around and saying "This is a door!" Busted me up. Great info and thanks for the laughs too
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for the video.
I wish I could get in and out of my house through some kind of hidden door. That would allow me to put these on all of the doors when I have to leave the house for several days.
Or what about a rear door of a home with a double swing in door? Each side opens up to a back deck. How would this work? Can't drill 2.5 to 3.0" screws into the deadbolt area ( since the total span of both doors are approximately 4.5 feet in width). And most home invaders will come in the weakest part of a structure or home. So how would I secure this door?
Great job explaining and showing attemps to open. Ive been looking for something and think I found it! Thanks for that!
Another great video Jason. Thank you for keeping us all up to date on good options for enhancing safety. One observation is that even if it doesn’t hold up indefinitely, it gives the homeowner the chance to be alerted and get ready with some more “sporting” options 😆
It looks like it would have its place in certain situations. My initial thought was to share it with my elderly father that lives alone but then realized if he had a medical emergency that it would make it very difficult to get in the house even if you had the key to the door as would prevent an unlocked door from opening inward.
Perhaps an interior barred door that you can unlock with key.
For a closed door policy make it Dooricade , thanks Mr. Hanson ! ! !
Or MDGA Make Doors Great Again”.
Interesting product, sort of a modern version of the castle gate timber brace. I had a B&E at my home a few years ago, they just kicked the door and the doorsplit open and shattered the frame. Cost more to replace the door than what was stolen. Great video, thanks!
Thanks for the info!God bless!
Regarding your future hip replacement: if possible have it done with an anterior approach, it's less invasive, recovery time is quicker and most importantly you can get on and off the toilet without assistance. The anterior approach has a different set of post-op precautions than the lateral or posterior-lateral surgical approach.
Years ago the old Fox Police Lock Company featured a lock very similar to this and was all steel. They also had a lock with a bar that ran from a groove in the floor to just under the doorknob. I knew a guy who had both installed on his single apartment door; nothing was getting in through that door! The burglars would be better off cutting a hole in the wall!
Thank you for sharing!
The best secure doorway is to install a steel frame and steel door.
There is another excellent product called Door Devil, which is a steel bar with cutouts to fit against the inside of the door frame and where the locks sit. Then you take 3.5” screws and screw them into the wood. It also comes with hinge protectors for the other side of the door, which is also a weak spot. The Door Devil combined with the Dooricade would go far in preventing anyone without a fireman’s ax or halligan from getting through your door!
Thank you for sharing!God bless!
*Jason Hanson* Great tips, thank-you sir for taking the time to show us. GOD Bless.
Interesting; because we aren't super happy with our door leading to the (attached) garage....this might be the fix.
Also, we stopped leaving our main garage door opener clicker in the one car that has to be parked outside; something homeowners might not think about, but it is a security vulnerability. Thanks Jason.
Thanks for sharing Lawrence! God bless!
This along with some 3in screws in the plate for the door latch and deadbolt would easily stop an offensive lineman from coming though any door. I love it!
Is there a barricade for double doors?
I'm definitely buying this. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome!Glad you enjoyed it!
I bought several pairs of wrought Iron brackets that hold a 2x4. I have a set at the top of my doors and a set at the bottom. That 2 2x4s being used on a single door with extra long and large screws to hold the brackets in place. I did the same setup on my basement door too.
Thank you! God bless and stay safe!

That doorricade is what I've been looking for as a woman especially it is extra assurance of resistance & safety. Hope I am fortunate enough to win!! Thank you for the video illustration. :)
Thank you for watching!
Is there anything that can be used for a door that opens outward?
I like it! I have something similar that uses steel brackets and a 2x4, but this looks even sturdier with it being screwed into the door frame like a strike. I'll definitely be checking it out! Thanks!! ~Frank
I love your vids, keep 'em coming.! In this case, a better test would be to ensure the structure has serious weight holding it in place for your hits and kicks so that it will not move.
I thought the same thing.
AWESOME & a simple yet easy product.

FYI-In the UK my daughter did experience and attemted break-in at her house. After failing with brute force they then did in fact try with a blow tourch!!

I lived in a place with door made in Austria. It was made of steel plate. It looked like a normal door.. Three heavy duty hinges bolted into the concrete post. The lock with first turn shifted a 2 inch steel plate, like a normal lock. Second turn and two steel plates each around 9 inches long move into the locking recess.
Jason Thanks for this video and the product review. It will come in handy for the new property I bought. Now for a new subject I wish you would cover. In this new world/country we find ourselves in. I have decided to start carrying my plate carrier ammo and truck gun/rifle with me wherever I go. My question is where is the best place in my vehicle to store my rifle for both as a deterrent to having it stolen and for law enforcement purposes in case I get pulled over? Thanks in advance for answering my question!
Ordered mine and used the code.
That's Awesome
Thank you Jason on door stop to keep bad guys out.
Does this work if I installed it just below the door handle? There are two narrow panes of opaque safety glass in the top half of the door. The bottom of the panes ends next to the deadbolt.
thank you
You’re welcome!
Screws can most likely come loose if not super sturdy door frame?

Does anyone have a suggestion? Apt owner changed doors on my apt with glass slats between wood. Back door is all glass. The old doors where secure massive old wood but he remodeled the whole building to make them alike. If I put the dooicade couldn’t they break the glass and remove the barricade?
I have a 3 panel glass patio sliding door. What do I do ?
Does this work on no knock warrants?🤔
Jason awesome upload. Effective demo of simulated home invasion! Will check out ur door bar. Kudos for ur vid. Looking forward to ur next one. Peace
There’s a door lock I’ve seen that’s a disk attached to the lever with four bars attached to the rim with pivots. When the lever and disk turn, one bar goes up, one down, one left and one right. I’d do two barricades with that sort of lock. One 15” off the floor. One shoulder height.
Yes! I need that in my zombie invasion kit.
This sounds like something else to add to my doors. I currently have floor locks installed on all of my doors which are made by the NightLock people. I think Jason had demonstrated these at one time as well.
Glad you think so.Thanks for watching!
My question, that metal piece to hold the bar near the jam sticks out some and looks sharp. I can see myself brushing against it as I come in the front or back door with my arms full and scraping myself. How to avoid that??
Thank you for your help. Please do not get a new hip. Try collagen instead and possibly nutritionalist

After seeing this test… I think far less of the CIA.
If I may ask on a different subject. Are "Beware of Dog" and "Homeowner armed" type signs effective in deterring intruders? All advice welcome.
You don't use hollow core doors for entrance doors. Use solid only. I can see how this would benefit a solid front door though.
How do you lock it when outside?
Good looking door blocker. I put a couple of C brackets and a T-stake in my garage egress door. Not pretty, but it is the most common way for the bad guys to break in- they get into the garage where nobody can see them and have time to then get into the main house, or, just steal your car as happened to a friend of mine!
