It's too bad BANANA SPLITS song videos like this never appeared on MTV or VH1. I remember MTV had a MONKEES marathon in 1986 to commemorate the show's 20th Anniversary. They could've had a BANANA SPLITS marathon for that show's 20th Anniversary in 1988. The MONKEES & THE BANANA SPLITS were very similar to each other.
Actually The Monkees did tour with another H-B rock group. The Impossibles guest starred during their 20th anniversary tour. Don't know if both groups donned their superhero costumes thou.
I just LOVE the "very interesting" catchphrase at 1:38, it was already marked by Arte Johnson's German soldier character on Laugh-In as well as Velma on an episode from the first two seasons of Scooby-Doo. Out-of-sight, Baby!!!! LOL :)
They need to something like this for modern cartoons Edit: Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Nickelodeon, CrunchyRoll, PBS Kids, Disney Channel etc should get together and do a celebration of cartoons from 1990-2030 and call it 40 Years of Fun !!!
A lot of people dismiss this because it was in a kid's show, but H-B had some kick-ass session musicians rocking for them. So did Filmation. You could have played this tunage without the Saturday Morning context, and still have yourself a great dance party. If you find a favorite or two among the bubblegum, no shame in playing it out loud.
Here's the lyrics: Well, I stopped lookin' when I looked at you (You're the lovin' end) 'Cause how much better can a poor boy do? (You're the lovin' end) Bright lights couldn't shine no brighter Than the love light in your eyes No arms could hold me tighter It's you I idolize You threw me like no one can You're the lovin' end (You're the lovin' end) You're the lovin' end (You're the lovin' end) Well I've been around, I've been lookin' for a girl (You're the lovin' end) Woo! I've done searched over this whole wide world (You're the lovin' end) You hypnotized my heart Until my soul could feel no pain If we ever drift apart I'll never be the same Girl, I gotta tell you again You're the lovin' end (You're the lovin' end) Woo! You're the lovin' end (You're the lovin' end) Bright lights couldn't shine no brighter Than the love light in your eyes, woo! No arms could hold me tighter, woo! It's you I idolize, looky here! You tell me like no one can You're the lovin' end (You're the lovin' end) Got to say, you're the lovin' end (You're the lovin' end) Aaah! Say you're the lovin' end (You're the lovin' end) Yeah, the lovin' end (You're the lovin' end) Woo! The lovin' end (You're the lovin' end)...
I wonder why they used six second segments of PRECIOUS PUP, SQUIDDLY DIDDLY, and the IMPOSSIBLES in this rock video of "You're the Lovin End?" And why were Atom Ant, Precious Pup, Granny Sweets, the Hillbilly Bears, Secret Squirrel and Morroco Morocco Mole flash across the screens? I liked but what did have the BANANA SPLITS song?
The "very interesting" comment by one of the cartoon characters (from one of H&B's cartoon villians) in this music video is a catch-phrase from the popular Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In show (1968).
I saw the premier episode of THE BANANA SPLITS ADVENTURE HOUR yesterday at the Paley Center for Media in Manhattan (it was initially called the Museum of Television Radio and before that the Museum of Broadcasting), and this music segment did appear in it. "You're The Lovin End could not have been made in 1969 if it appeared in the first episode THE BANANA SPLITS WHICH AIRED IN 1968.
@dtrocks05 I don't know for sure all the musicians but I know that Al Kooper (Bob Dylan, Blood Sweat & Tears) wrote the song, and possibly plays organ.
Adorecream ... yes everybody was going to acid and high on love and life and peace ... it was a wonderful time despite the shadow government that was coming in and taking over and killing our leaders the best ones
So you can tell they're stoned dancing around with the crazy zooming in and out camera effects, and wearing six inches of foam rubber and fur and sweating like hogs under bright stage lights? You're amazing.
@dtrocks05 Not sure who the actual musicians were. I've never been able to find out. I'm quite certain it's not Eric Burdon - although the singer on "Gonna Find a Cave" sounds a little like him. Most likely, just session musicians that Hanna-Barbera contracted with.
Who could reimagine such in line with canon like I do--in my own case, picturing them on a Road Trip of Redemption in a rebuilt school bus, performing the occasional surprise concert in the likes of culturally-depraved small-town "opera houses" and managing to get in contact with old fans and new in tourist traps especially?
So that's what Al Kooper was doing between Blood, Sweat and Tears and Lynyrd Skynyrd. If he knuckled down and let another singer take the mike, what would that have meant for the latter band? Not sure I want to know.
@pmanis09 I see what you mean. But then again who cares about the content it was a really cool Banana Splits rock video. A little psychodelic but cool.
Like in the Marx Bros movies, the crappest bits were the musical bits. Maybe because when i watched this it was the early to mid-seventies and all this third rate psych pop was very old fashioned......of course now it sounds great.
This song should have been in the end credits for the movie
I just love this song!! I love the Hanna-Barbera characters!!
Awesomeness. Ricky Lancelotti ruled. It's amazing that he did this and then worked with Zappa.

@@jamesgarrone9828 yeah! That and their other song soul!
They should be in the hall of fame.
WHAT A PHENOMENAL SONG !!!! Just heard it for the 1st time. Love the double tempo funky feel. Should have been a big hit
I just LOVE the "very interesting" catchphrase at 1:38, it was already marked by Arte Johnson's German soldier character on Laugh-In as well as Velma on an episode from the first two seasons of Scooby-Doo. Out-of-sight, Baby!!!! LOL :)
@dtrocks05 The lead vocal is by Ricky Lancelotti (RIP) who would later work with Frank Zappa, appearing notably on his Overnite Sensation LP.
Great tune! I have it on one of my 70's videos! Reminds me of The Buckingham's "Mercy"!
This guys voice is phenomenal
Oh Yeah The Banana Split Show Is The Best Show In The World 🥇🏆🏅🎖️💰💯
Don't forget Fred Flintstone made appearance on The Banana Spilts on WFLD-TV 32
They need to something like this for modern cartoons

Los mejores ,originales y únicos. Banana splits. Saludos desde México DF.
I like how that in this music video shows different Hanna barbera cartoons like Atom Ant, Precious Pupp, and many others
This song/this version of this song appeared in the Turner print of the 1st episode of this show.
This video and You Tube are outta sight!

Psychedelic man!!!!
I love it my heroes 60 yrs old
Man, that Bingo could really pound those skins. Keith Moon, Charlie Watts and Bingo.
Nineteen-sixty-eight rocks!
The Hillbilly Bears make a cameo, which they have their own segment during season two of the Banana Splits Adventure Hour.
When I was a kid TV was a babysitter my sibs and I worshiped The BS!
I have this on CD and the original series on VHS
was there any episodes of The Banana Splits And Friends show?
I just love those heaing those Hanna-Barbera sound effects.
This song came out in 1968.

Some of the musicians involved are named on Wikipedia. They even mentioned Gene Pitney!

I remember that was a scene from the herculoids!
those psychedelic patterns were really something else on 60s color TV

Hola me gusta los banana split y son geniales 😂😂❤❤❤
Wonder if they played their own instruments, haha
This is incredibleg!

This MAKES IT, BABY!!!!!....
Cool to see The Impossibles making a guest appearance for this, lolololol!
video circa 1968
1:10-1:18 Atom Ant, Granny Sweets, Precious Pup, the Hillbilly Bears: Pa Rug, Ma Rug, Flora Rug and Shag Rug.
@fredsternberger48621:21 Secret Squirrel and Morocco Mole.
you said the IMPOSSIBLES already. How do Secret Squirrel & Morocco Mole makemake you think of Scooby Doo and the Gang?
@fredsternberger4862 me too.
@fredsternberger4862 YW.
There was a piece of the herculoids episode in that, only it was one of the villans saying very interesting!
This particular cartoon rock video came from 1968 not 69.
I heard The Splits toured with and opened for The Grateful Dead in Europe in ‘72
Seriously was everyone on acid in 1968. This is cheap children's tv and psychedelic bubble gum music all in one. Those characters look truly stoned.
Adorecream ... yes everybody was going to acid and high on love and life and peace ... it was a wonderful time despite the shadow government that was coming in and taking over and killing our leaders the best ones
And this is way better than the pop music that's out there nowadays and this was just a children's show
So you can tell they're stoned dancing around with the crazy zooming in and out camera effects, and wearing six inches of foam rubber and fur and sweating like hogs under bright stage lights? You're amazing.
ni idea de como lleguee acá jaja ahora me regresoo lollllll
I wanted Kellogg's cereals because they were on them!
I love the pictures of precious pup, atom ant, etc!
where are songs like this now?
Lost out to mainstream crap. Its sad... cause this is wonderful and catchy

Cicero This was written by Jimmy Radcliffe and none other than ... Barry White. Jury is out on the vocal but I’ve heard Billy Preston mentioned
John Skelt Mystery finally solved - 10 years after my initial reply. Thanks!
1:25 Happy Birthday 🎉
@Hawk9731 I bet it's a collectors item becasue it's so rare. How much was the Banana Splits Club membership card and certificate back then?
#TIL Al Kooper co-wrote this song
1:38 QUOTE FROM LAUGH-IN's Artie Johnson.
Man, what am I smoking here? Is this really happening?
It's from 1968 cause banana Splits is released in that year
The Banana Splits aired from 1968 to 1970. This particular episode was from 1969.
Written by Barry White
2024 anyone?
Y a esto porqué le hicieron película de terror asta esto tiene potencial
does anyone know who did the backing tracks on this album ? the singer sounds a lot like eric burden from the animals .
This was a great show, too bad there was a crappy horror movie of them.

@@larryellisreed280 What does it mean if something is canon?
@@theorca3275 It means being established from, and as one with, the original backstory.
Al Kooper composed this I think.

Well, because they were all Hanna-Barbera cartoons. It doesn't have anything to do with the Banana Splits other than that.
@pmanis09 I see what you mean. But then again who cares about the content it was a really cool Banana Splits rock video. A little psychodelic but cool.

This band is almost better then the Lance A lot Link & The Evelution Revelution
