If anyone is wondering about the figurine, Guenhwyvar resides on another plane (spectral?) and the figurine is how she is called to the prime material plane for a limited amount of time before she has to return. Also, scimitars are Icing Death and Twinkle.
IcingDeath is also the name of the ice dragon on the box. From The Crystal Shard. Twinkle does not have ice powers. Figurine of Wonderous Power. As a huge D&D fan i love this set. Drizzt is a Drow/Dark Elf hence his white hair and complexion and his companion is the legendary Guenwyvar the War Panther. She is fiercely loyal and he cares greatly for her and will give his life for her quickly if needed and vice versa. She is able to communicate with him and vice versa she's telepathic so she uses that to talk. He speaks to her verbally and she's ancient. They two are never apart. The Dark Elf is a evil elf usually but he is unique among them. The cat statue is a relic of Guenwyvar family :)
I don't know anything about Dungeons and Dragons but my god this has got to be one of the coolest 2 packs of any action figures ever. That's the most articulated animal I've ever seen too!
I remember in the early 2K's when Drizzt was all over books and rpg card games. But MY experience with him was when I UNLOCKED him in my PS2 rpg game, Champions Of Norrath. Voiced by Michael Bell (Duke and Major Bludd from 80's G.I.Joe), Drizzt was a revitalization for the game, when I had just overplayed it enough to start feeling bored. His quips were hilarious, especially when crawling through endless randomized dungeons. The first time Michael Bells voice over made me laugh out loud was when going through one particular dungeon, Drizzt gleefully spilled out, "WHOEVER designed THIS dungeon was SICK, TWISTED, and HALF MAAAAAAD!" His character was a hero of great renown, but being a dark Elf, he had a dark sense of humor and perspective. This figure is a TREASURE.
You know what? I played the hell out of Champions of Norrath, both 1 and 2, and Baldur's Gate. The wife and I had a ball being able to play something we both liked. But I had forgotten all about the Drizzt connection. Crazy!
@@TheFwoosh It's worth revisiting, and possibly looking up the unlock parameter, because I forget what I did to unlock him. But he's awesome, and now I'm probably going to hook up my PS2 and pull the game out. Thanks for the review, it definately stirred up the nostalgia factor.
Bro the very fact you don't know anything about the characters makes your video so appealing and entertaining. I've been a fan since the early 90's and I still remember reading the novel which introduced Drizzt to the world in The Crystal Shard way back then.
Robo, your toy content is my favorite by far! I thought you might enjoy knowing, for the sake of posing or display, Guenhwyvar is a magical creature. Not a real panther. The onyx statue is a talisman Drizzt uses to summon his panther companion from the spectral plane. Guenhwyvar can not remain summoned indefinitely, however, and has to return to the special plane to rest. Maybe that will help you to know how you’d like to incorporate the pieces into your display. Thanks for such great content!
I played D&D w/my lil' brother back in the late 70's/early 80's, but the biggest thing is I just today got my Necca Warduke! I can't remember what specific thing he came from (other than D&D), but he was the coolest toy I was able to get as a kid, Necca (THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU) remade him, and now he's in my hands! And he's better than my memory. Other than the "Samurai Boba Fett" (that got me into collecting again)(and objectively the best action figure) He's now my favorite toy (that I didn't make myself). I read that book 25 years ago and watching you review the figure that I didn't even know existed I was all, "Ah, yes. The figure includes both magic swords, Twinkle and Icingdeath. Oh, and he has the goddess Mielikki's bone pendant too. And even the figurine he uses to conjure Gwenwhyvar from the Astral Plane." Not going to lie, that's one awesome figure and the attention to detail down to the panther's purple highlights and Drizzt's own lavender eyes, as well as the accessories, is just amazing. I would've preferred his skin tone to be jet black, but I guess it wouldn't look as good for an action figure or something, and seeing that this figure exists and has the detail down to the pommels of both swords is just amazing.
2:32 that backdrop is actually one of the towns of icelandale. When Drizzt came to the surface he eventually became the protector of the ten towns. And by the way he is dark elf he is a drow. A race of elves known to be evil, but he's not he's the exception he's a good guy.

@Peter Parker you don't have to tell me twice, hehe, I was customizing wrestling figures for the better part of a decade before getting into Marvel Legends
Good that they added Gwen's Figurine form. A bit plain though, it's supposed to be onyx so it should be a little more glossy but the gloss it does have isn't bad.
"Work like this makes me want to learn more about Drizzt" That's what I said about the Sleep Sound animated short. over $100 and many hours later, I can't stop buying the audiobooks.
Decided to preorder this figure after seeing this review. While not familliar with the character, big into D&D and got some mythic legion figures this figure would go well with..........also the panther would go well with my black panther marvel legends collection
I didn't know this was happening especially since I'm a huge fan of R.A. Salvatore, and everything Drizzt related. It's awesome to see more merchandise for this character I still want a movie more than anything else in the word. Truth be told I would have loved to have seen Todd McFarland Toys tackled this endeavour.
I thought for sure you were gonna give us a few shots of Guenhwyvar with a version of T'Challa or two. Aside from wanting a fantasy elf-man figure in 6" scale, what put me over into actually buying this set was giving my favorite Black Panther a black panther to pal around with.
I am stoked that we are getting this. I just wished the sizes were accurate. Drizzt is supposed to be as tall as wolverine and his pet is supposed to be larger than a normal panther.
Don't tell nobody but you can find a lot of the audiobooks for this character on RUclips. I read them about 25 years ago but this figure got me going again and I'm on book 13. The Dark Elf Trilogy and the author is R A Salvatore.
The pronunciation of the panthers name is easy enough. Her name is pronounced like Gwenevere. The swords, Twinkle and Icingdeath ;) Great review of these. Im waiting for my set myself. Just did an unboxing of the statue version of Drizzt, as well as his replica blades. Can't wait to open this set!
@The Fwoosh Can you please ask the Hasbro rep that sent you the sample if they have any plans to finish the Icewind Dale team with the other four major characters: Bruenor the Dwarf King, Wulfgar the Barbarian, Cattie Brie the Archer, and Regis the Halfling?
I REALLY wasn't impressed with the promo pics of these 2, but they actually came out a lot better than I thought they would. They should do Strahd in this line.
I've never followed the DND stories and lore but I loved Mythic Legends and would be really into a hasbro articulated fantasy line. I need more dwarf figures. Interchangeable beards? Yes please. A dnd action figure line could be insanely fun if they do a lot of mix and match accessories and packs. Plus its their own IP and looks like they used that extra budget well.
I actually found that Robo’s lack of knowledge on the D&D universe made his jokes funnier (“icewind” Dale is always fun at parties) than they might have been otherwise. But, as always, very informative and fun review!
That small obsidian cat artifact is the one Drizzt use to summon that elemental Panther companion, but I think and in the books, its supposed to be a massive purply and ethereal--just like He Man's Panthor
Not to be "that" nerd in the comments. But honestly I think the Crystal Shard (the actual first novel to feature the character even though it's fourth chronologically) is a better start. I always thought it works better on its own than the others because it was written before the series was meant to center on Drizzt.
@@nomadnuka716 Well, my comment wasn't about the series itself but rather specifically about Drizzt himself, so I am going to disagree and suggest reading his backstory might be the place to start rather than his adventures. That works for some characters, but I don't think that is so for Drizzt whom you feel way more kinship with after having basically walked along with during the more formative years of his life.
Just read any of them! By sheer happenstance I read The Halfling's Gem first and then went back. Salvatore makes it very easy to jump right in anywhere in the series and it will be a fun and enjoyable read!
The small black panther statue is actually the magic item where Guenhwyvar comes from. He is summoned from the astral plane. Tons of great stories in the books by R.A. Salvatore
This line kinda gives me hope. Here I say that: ALE DON'T KNOW DND . But i Love fantasy and we desperately needs some trolls, goblins and creatures for our asgardians to fight... am I right?
That's why I'm buying into this line if this ends up being more than a one-off. DnD is, like, the ur-example of General Purpose Fantasy that just about every other fantasy borrows from when they're not borrowing from Lord of the Rings, and our 6" action figure lines need WAY more of that. I feel like that would be half the market of a DnD 6" line; people who want fantasy action figures.
I do forever appreciate how he makes sure to tell D&D fans like me that he has no clue about it. dont even know what a beholder is. In my opinion, if they going to do D&D figures, they should be in 3 3/4 scale, just so you can get some big monsters to scale.
Figures like this is why Hasbro is my favorite toy company they make figures look so good that they make me want figures from properties I could care less about or straight up don’t like
I'm just like Robo, IDK D&D really, outside of the 80s cartoon (& of course I've heard of the game, however, I never played). But the articulation, accessories, & "options" make this fig extremely enticing to get. I love articulated "animals" in action figure form.
Very interesting release from Hasbro. The box is so beautiful it may unfairly prepare you to expect a high-end figure. Still, it's very decent. I loved the panther btw; Hasbro can really pull it off when they try.
Ok, as a fan and uber nerd for this book series and the character in general, I can shine some light on some of the things that people may not know about. The panther's name is pronounced like the wife of King Arthur (yeah, sword in the stone). the panther resides in the Astral Plane, and is summoned to the Material Plane (regular world) using the statue (for 12 hours then she needs a full day to rest in the Astral Plane). The Guenhwyvar figure is rather accurate, but i mean its a panther and that's hard to mess up. The city in the inside of the packaging is probably Bryn Shander, the capital of the area known as Ten Towns, where Drizzt lives (kind of, he lives near it on a mountain above a bunch of dwarves). The city on the out side of the box is Menzoberranzan, it's the city where Drizzt was born. It's in the Underdark, a layer of the earth well below where even normal dwarves live. they worship the goddess Lolth the Spider Queen, thus the spider. The Dragon is called Icingdeath, Drittz and his friend Wulfgar killed it, and one of his swords has an ice enchantment, and he gave it the dragons name. the other one doesn't have the ice power though, its called Twinkle and lights up. So it has the wrong effect for it, also, those are the wrong kind of sword, he uses curved scimitars. The cloak is accurate, so is the necklace, the unicorn symbol is for his goddess Mielikki. The armor on him is just wrong on pretty much all accounts. His skin should definitely be much darker, they are called dark elves for a reason, and he isn't albino or anything. All in all, you did great, but I'm rather disappointed in Hasbro.
I only know Drizzt from cultural osmosis via D&D 5e, but I know this Dark Elf Ranger is a goddamn legend. A 5'4" manlet, but a legend XD. Also that armor is crisp, holy hell!!

The cat can also be almost completely destroyed as long as he is sent back to heal in the Astral Plane.
The necklace is the item from his god he adopted on the surface world. He is a Pariah from the Underdark and distances himself from the culture.

Love the shirt, I remmember watching that when I was little....memories.
I highly recommend reading some of the Drizzt books if you like fantasy you will quickly fall in love with this character.
The swords, Twinkle and Icingdeath ;)
Great review of these.
Cool shirt. Wish Mattel's Battle Cat & Panthor were that articulated.
Great review as always 👍👍👍
I've never followed the DND stories and lore but I loved Mythic Legends and would be really into a hasbro articulated fantasy line. I need more dwarf figures. Interchangeable beards? Yes please. A dnd action figure line could be insanely fun if they do a lot of mix and match accessories and packs. Plus its their own IP and looks like they used that extra budget well.
I actually found that Robo’s lack of knowledge on the D&D universe made his jokes funnier (“icewind” Dale is always fun at parties) than they might have been otherwise. But, as always, very informative and fun review!
The panther would be perfect for a black Panther spirit thing because of the purple accents reminds me of stuff like that
she sort of is a spirit. she lives on another plane and drizzt uses a figurine of a panther to call her to this plane
Awesome review!!! I wonder if the legends team will adapt that hair thing to their figures
That small obsidian cat artifact is the one Drizzt use to summon that elemental Panther companion, but I think and in the books, its supposed to be a massive purply and ethereal--just like He Man's Panthor
They need to use that cat body for zabu with a kazar figure.
Bingo!
Personally Robo, I can't help but recommend reading the first novel to see if you enjoy Drizzt. Homeland by R.A. Salvatore.
Not to be "that" nerd in the comments. But honestly I think the Crystal Shard (the actual first novel to feature the character even though it's fourth chronologically) is a better start. I always thought it works better on its own than the others because it was written before the series was meant to center on Drizzt.
I agree
@@nomadnuka716 Well, my comment wasn't about the series itself but rather specifically about Drizzt himself, so I am going to disagree and suggest reading his backstory might be the place to start rather than his adventures. That works for some characters, but I don't think that is so for Drizzt whom you feel way more kinship with after having basically walked along with during the more formative years of his life.
Just read any of them! By sheer happenstance I read The Halfling's Gem first and then went back. Salvatore makes it very easy to jump right in anywhere in the series and it will be a fun and enjoyable read!
This was the best Christmas gift my wife ever got me......Nothing..... lol can't wait tell January thoughs
The small black panther statue is actually the magic item where Guenhwyvar comes from. He is summoned from the astral plane. Tons of great stories in the books by R.A. Salvatore
Drizzt could be a custom body for maleketh and guenhwyvar would be one of t'challa's panther that sits beside his throne in some comic panels.

@@Strawberry92fs exactly! I can't wait mine to arrive
D&D elves are a bit shorter than humans and Drizzt is said to be 5’4” tall, so that helps inform the scale comparisons to other figures.
Oh well hell, that's totally works then.
As a die hard Drizzt fan, I wasn't mad about you not knowing things and you totally should read some of the books they are fantastic
Wait a minute...Robo did you take the time to record separate growls for the panther and Lockjaw to play them back at the same time? I love it!
Haha, yup, I did!
I don't care that you don't know the lore, this was a great review. Thank you!
No, thank you!
Well, this completely sold me...please Hasbro, more Forgotten Realms figures.
The mini Guinivere is the pocket statue that Drizzt tosses to ground to get the live version.
I do forever appreciate how he makes sure to tell D&D fans like me that he has no clue about it. dont even know what a beholder is.
In my opinion, if they going to do D&D figures, they should be in 3 3/4 scale, just so you can get some big monsters to scale.
Figures like this is why Hasbro is my favorite toy company they make figures look so good that they make me want figures from properties I could care less about or straight up don’t like
Thanks Robo! Appreciate you bud
I'm just like Robo, IDK D&D really, outside of the 80s cartoon (& of course I've heard of the game, however, I never played). But the articulation, accessories, & "options" make this fig extremely enticing to get. I love articulated "animals" in action figure form.
Just ordered this thing as well as the GiJoe Classified figures that come with animals. Guess I have a thing for articulated animals now.
Can't blame you, they are damn amazing.
Next, Hasbro will release Minsc and Boo, a 2 pack fig deluxe set.... xP
I hope they make an Artemis fig, to go with Drizzt...... *fingers crossed*
Very interesting release from Hasbro. The box is so beautiful it may unfairly prepare you to expect a high-end figure. Still, it's very decent. I loved the panther btw; Hasbro can really pull it off when they try.
Never did get into dnd but still might get these
Ok, as a fan and uber nerd for this book series and the character in general, I can shine some light on some of the things that people may not know about.
Hasbro tapping into the mythic legions fandom. Smart move hasbro.
Not bad, I wasn't expecting much so it surpassed my expectation. I may go for it... hmmmmm!!! Thanks for the review!!!
I only know Drizzt from cultural osmosis via D&D 5e, but I know this Dark Elf Ranger is a goddamn legend. A 5'4" manlet, but a legend XD. Also that armor is crisp, holy hell!!
This review got me excited to receive my set, but Hasbro just emailed me that’ll be delayed until the end of January.
The Legend of Drizzt books are FANTASTIC! I've considered buying this. It's nice to see a neutral review of the set. :)
