Perfect technique, the chinese lift the exact same way too. Absolutely perfect technique on every rep, even misses. They never grind any lift out, it's insane the amount of technique required to lift the way they do.
I hope Ilya breaks 200kg on the snatch, at least in training like a lot of the elite 105kg lifters. I know Torokhtiy's done 200kg on the snatch and 240kg in the clean and jerk. I wonder how much improvement he's showing and if he's competing at the World's this year.
Because it's easier to just stick them on there and they're designed to be used that way, even in competition. The first time I saw them use the small plates outside of the collars in competition was in about 2007, I believe. All the major barbell manufacturers have gone over to that system now.

Stanislav Stepanov 8 reds is 220kg. The small white plates are 5kg each = 10kg. The small red plates are 2.5kg each = 5kg. There are smaller white plates after the small red plates which is 0.5kg each = 1. The 2 clips are 2.5kg each = 5kg. 220+10+5+1+5= 241kg.
