      He had 13 studio albums between 65 and 83.... yeah but his first hit internationally was in 75 with no woman no cry... so only really internationally known for 6 years before he died....

    Another Bob Marley recommendation: Redemption Song. It's from his final album before he died, and it was covered by both Joe Strummer of the Clash and the Man in Black himself, Mr Johnny Cash (with Strummer). And on a personal note, it was apparently a favourite of my parents and the one song my mom could play on guitar - I would later randomly discover it as a teen via the Strummer version.😊

    • @radicaladz
      @radicaladz 6 месяцев назад

      Fun fact: because the lyrics used "I" instead of "me" as they often do in Jamaican patois, when Johnny Cash saw that on the lyric sheet as they were prepping to record his version, Rick Rubin or someone suggested they change it but Cash refused - he supposedly said, if that was how Bob Marley wrote and sang it, he wasn't going to be the one to change it. What can you possibly say about a man like that?

    Great reaction guys!! Way to spread the love - which is what Bob Marley was ALL about! I think some of his detractors had issues with the Rasta movement (and the copious use of marijuana - remember it's a Schedule 1 drug in the US!!), more than what Bob was singing about. Indeed - how could someone speak against his message!
    He has so much love to share with us - so future recommendations: No Woman No Cry (album version), Jamming, Waiting In Vain, Iron Lion Zion, Exodus, Redemption Song, Buffalo Soldier...for starters! Peace, cheers!

    Truly an amazing human💚✌💜💛
    Back in the 90s we used to go to the Telluride Bluegrass festival every year, one year Ziggy Marley was there and I couldn’t wait to see him! This is one of my most embarrassing moments ever but I was recovering from a car accident and mixed up my meds, ended up taking painkillers while smoking insane kind bud that our friend got hanging backstage with Ziggy Marley! He was going to take us all back after the performance so we could all chill and guess who was passed out in the middle of the fairgrounds?!? lol yeah, I missed the whole thing…all the acts, I missed out on meeting Ziggy Marley and the band And got fking fried in the sun…yeah…good times…🙄

    Just FYI, from the people who award grammy statuettes:
    2023 RECORDING ACADEMY LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
    Bobby McFerrin is a 10-time GRAMMY Award winner who has blurred the distinction between pop music and fine art. His exploration of uncharted vocal territory inspired a whole new generation of a cappella singers and the beatbox movement. From his trailblazing, solo a cappella performances to his inspired collaborations with Chick Corea and Yo-Yo Ma, his iconic global No. 1 hit “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” and his work conducting top-tier orchestras, McFerrin’s calling has always been to connect people through the unlimited possibilities of music. McFerrin redefined the role of the human voice with his experiments in multi-tracking, his collaborations, his improvising choir Voicestra, and his legendary solo performances.

    Absolute classic! ❤ definitely worth a deep-dive into Bob Marleys music. Obviously, you have the extremely well known songs that we all love, but there are some truly incredible songs that he and the Wailers did that are arguably more slept on and havent gotten the attention they deserve. Id love to see you guys react to 'Natural Mystic'....an absolutely beautiful song!

    Please listen to the band as much as, if not more than the lyrics. The One Drop was made by the Wailers. Almost all of his songs will have 3 meanings. The literal and 2 figurative meanings. He wrote the lyrics purposefully that way. Watch the full live concerts on RUclips that are available and you will see a straight PIMP do his thing. It’s impressive to witness his presence knowing he was 5’5”.
