Ditching the Godzilla - Waylon's New Engine

- We're back to work on "OL' WAYLON" and on today's episode we learn the fate of the Ford Godzilla engine and what will be replacing it. As it turns out, the old Ford motor is in need of a lot of work and some R&D to get it to where it needs to be. So with the help of Texas Speed, we are building a beast of an LS that will take all the abuse. The foundation is a Dart SHP LS NEXT PRO block and Dart billet steel 8 counterweight crank. Its topped off with a custom ground cam and PRC 285cc LS7 heads and will be fed lots of air by something massive.

I don’t know about others, but I appreciate videos like this because I’ve been in similar situations several times. All too often people make projects look simple and straightforward when in reality there are always hiccups. Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing your real life experiences; it actually helps encourage me (and I’m sure others) to not give up on our piles of parts.

Probably not. It’s still going to be a stock interior car with no cage. So it’s never going to be legal at any drag strip
His f150 still full stock interior so U probably be algood for the back of the track AWD stuff and could put on a burnout contest while U in Florida make the trip a payday🤘

Thanks for the "radio voice voiceover". A lot of channels forget the RUclips rule #1: audio is king! That's not just some jabroni saying - this is scientifically proven. A study showed that test subjects percieved videos with crap audio as lower quality - significantly more so than poor video quality. Now you know. 😎✌️

The 7.3 seems like a good motor but don’t think there is enough R&D for high power applications, but for anything under 900 I believe they are pretty reliable for what I have seen.

Bring both bell housing to a machine shop have the lip milled off and correct bolt holes drilled in the one that bolts to block I'm sure there is a machine shop somewhere close by to you that will do it for a reasonable price

Somehow intake valves keep getting bigger and bigger but that 1.6 exhaust valve has been around since the 60s and still working

I swapped a L18 vortec in my tahoe with a set of aluminum heads and support mods and it makes around 600hp
Not gonna lie it would be sick to see that ol big block in the Tahoe but I get it the LS is basically plug and play and proven to handle all the boost.
I would try a pop filter man, foam filter is already there but the P's and B's are still poppin, for the rest great video

Perhaps a company such as QuickTime could make a custom bell housing to fit the Ford adapter and the LS engine
Since your going LS7 heads are you going to go LS7 style oil pan with a dry sump setup? If you did you could get a beefy amount of oil. High revving and high boost I’d recommend vr1 full synthetic oil too lol
I will be doing an entire video on the dry sump system that is going on this. Its a proper set up.

I wonder why dart would go to a 4 bolt main rather than the 6 bolt GM uses? I would assume the main caps would be stronger when braced by the sides of the block, with the 4 bolt, they are just kinda floating like a traditional old school sbc.

Is the transfer case a full-time awd or does it shift in and out of 4wd? If awd what's the part number on the trans and transfer case???
The T-case is just an NP208. they can take a surprising amount of abuse when they aren't used for off road applications. LOL.

I actually started this build back in 2022. But because of Hoonigan's release schedule I had to keep quiet about it. So I basically got to watch his saga unfold as i was doing this. LOL
