A huge fact is missing in this video: After Russia the biggest owner of natural gas reservoirs is Iran and even some studies assume Iran has more gas than Russia. There was a plan about 2 decades ago to build a pipeline from Iran to Europe to end the dependency on Russian gas but it was abandoned because of American sanctions.
Not to mention the fact that Iran is extremely hostile towards the west and Russia controls many countries in the region and will do anything to keep anyone from bypass Russia or their satellite states since that weakens the 1 successful part of their economy and their single most powerful bargaining chip when it comes to international politics: European dependence in Russian fuel. American sanctions are just 1 part of the situation and the reason America got involved in the first place was due to Europeans desperately wanting Iranian fuel and the soviets trying to disrupt that trade. There are other countries the Arabian peninsula nations and Iraq that could supply fuel via pipelines but they face the same Russian/Iranian meddling trying to block those pipelines. That's why so many nations got involved in Syria: the eastern Mediterranean is controlled by only a couple countries but is a prime location for the pipeline so if you disrupt them you can hold up the whole pipeline

The US withdrew sanctions saying they could put sanctions on later if Russia did something else wrong. So the sanctions, which were partially meant to prevent Europe from relying on Russia for its electricity, we’re withdrawn with the idea that after Europe is even more dependent on Russia, that more sanctions could be placed on later? Does this seem backwards to anyone else? Pull sanctions to give your adversary more leverage and say you can put them back on later after your adversary has even more leverage?

Not sure about the happyness part. The situation with natural gas in Europe is far from good, its price has more than doubled in last year and only time will tell what implications Nord Stream has for Belarus, Ukraine or Poland. History has not shown good end results with Germans and Russians agreeing on smth important.
Ostap, i understand your worries. But electing an anti-Russian stance and expecting Russia to pay you money is pretty silly. Its like trying to force USA to lay a pipeline through Iran and pay the transit fees...

I'm a designer but not the engineering type. I am an environmentalist in the sense waste not, want not. I'm also a business owner. Because I want commercial success, I oftentimes have to change my ideological ways for practicality while holding onto that motto, waste not, want not. My question is, isn't there an underwater tunnel being planned between the Baltics and Finland and didn't Denmark just complete a megaproject connecting it to Sweden? Why couldn't the underwater pipeline project and the underwater connection projects have been combined? For whatever reason, there seems to be more concern about the environmental impact of the pipeline than the underwater passages. By building the pipeline into the tunnels of the underwater passages would mean that the operators could earn revenue and the pipeline owner would have easy access to the pipeline to conduct maintenance and do inspections. The public benefits also because if there was ever a leak, it would occur inside of the tunnel and not into nature. I believe part of my job as a designer is to find solutions and close gaps. That's my rant.
I’ve wondered why several projects across the planet haven’t been combined, my thoughts are it has to do corruption/tax dollars being allotted for “different” projects plus the massive timeline for planning and material gathering in limited time and space contraints, coordinating would be more efficient overall but would drag out the timeline for completed one single larger project. Back to the corruption side of things, in the US you can have an asphalt driveway privately paved for $10/sq ft whereas the government pays $40/sq ft for the same work, same asphalt….you see, if I’m a legislator and have vested interest into a government contractor or have backers with a vested interest I’m going to push for larger budgets for the same work even if that costs the taxpayers more. There’s a reason The Constitution is laid out the way it is, people are inherently evil and need to be checked back from time to time, hence the Bill of Rights.

@ 6:40...the flash is only saying "Media Offline" in a multitude of languages.Everyone can breathe easy. No subliminal messages here, folks.
It's a policy of the Biden administration. Of course it doesn't make sense.
at 6:40 theres a very short clip of a screen that reads: media offline.
Great video. @ 2:30 the pipeline diameter is 45 inches not .045 inches
What's the worst that could happen?
Just imagine the personal touch of brain blaze in this video. Simon talking about "laying pipe" then a rare snippet of his past and university times involving a "friend" laying pipe!
Your channel is wonderful.. There are beautiful stories such as:
1. The story of the Tapline pipeline
2. The story of the largest water desalination project in Saudi Arabia
3.The story of the tallest fountain in the world King Fahd Fountain in Jeddah
Or future stories that have begun to be implemented, such as:
1. The story of building the world's largest solar energy in NEOM, which will equal half of the world's nuclear and solar capacity
2. The story of building the largest living museum in the world in the city of Al-Ula, across a line that passed through the ancient Arab civilizations
3. The story of building Oxagon, the largest floating industrial city with clean energy for the robotics industry
4. The story of the start of the largest cultural city project in Diriyah
5. The story of the start of the project of the largest theme park in the world, which will break some records
6. The story of building the Linear City in NEOM
7. The story of the start of the Makkah Path project to improve the quality of life for the people of the city
8. The story of the beginning of the expansion of Al-Jibel Industrial City to be the largest industrial city in the world.
There are several good topics here! :) Don't know about most of them, but would sure love to hear Simon the ones his research team can think they can make a good episode on.
Bar doesn’t make sense to power plant operators in the USA. We use PSIG
Obviously Sweden is worried about the environment. They don’t want a spill killing their Swedish fish.
Yeah you should have seen that coming.
I miss my nuclear power plants
Relying on someone else to provide leads to power over providing "said thing." However the days of self sufficiency are for the most part over (personally and nationally). Just be careful who holds something you or your country cannot live without.
That "subliminal" "message" at 06:40 :D
I caught that too and it took me forever to stop exactly on it and it says "Medla or Media Offline" in 10 different languages. Was this a Subliminal message by one of Simon's workers as a cry for help? Notice he didn't give credit to Danny or the other person who sprinkles in the finest meme's!
I see what you did there. Thank you.
What was that text that briefly flashed up on the American flag? I couldn't quite stop exactly on it. Oh and the perils of passing through everyone's backyard...too many palms to grease and too many bodies to dispose of (Russian style)
It's a media encoder error. It's says media offline in a number of languages.
@@Xan-Asmodi Thanks, thought it was subliminal messaging 😂
@@dc-4ever201 I did too! That's why I wanted to find out what it said.
Not sure about the happyness part. The situation with natural gas in Europe is far from good, its price has more than doubled in last year and only time will tell what implications Nord Stream has for Belarus, Ukraine or Poland. History has not shown good end results with Germans and Russians agreeing on smth important.
I mean didn't the prices rise second time because of prolongation of certification period for the pipe, so it isn't supplying any gas yet?
Ostap, i understand your worries. But electing an anti-Russian stance and expecting Russia to pay you money is pretty silly. Its like trying to force USA to lay a pipeline through Iran and pay the transit fees...
Kerch bridge next?
8:52 Who the heck is Lucas Audley? ;)
"Vladimir Putin stated that the ecological safety of the pipeline project would be ensured by using the Baltic fleet of the Russian navy" - wonder how that will pan out in light of today's news about possilbe saboteurs.
So what was that flash I saw while the American flag was shown around 6:39?
6:40 media offline for a split second. :)
Angela Merkel was pulling on the valve wheel not connected to anything.
9:00 Hi Lucas
What's up with the "media offline" thing in the video? it flashes really quickly? did anyone else catch that?
CAN YOU AT LEAST DO A SIDE-PROJECTS!!!!
Pease do the YF-23 vs the YF-22.
There is plenty of footage and this competition helped shape the modern Air Force.
this is the only good video I found about YF-23 but it does not compare the two jets

Thanksgiving=a harvest festival
6:40 uh oh
It is amazingly positive about a basic political project.
Eh, the Csanadians have a Thanksgiving as well. And its basically a harvest celebration from way back. Gather your family and enjoy a nice big meal giving thanks for the harvest's bounty for there will be lean times ahead.
Anyone see what that flash of a frame at 6:40 ish said?
It seems like land routes is still more environmentally sound.
6:39 or 6:40 Anyone see what that graphic was that flashed for a fraction of a second?
Yup. You just need to slow down playback to the lowest point (0.25 times) and then you'll see it. But it's underwhelming, really. I was disappointed.
If the Trans-ASEAN Gas Pipeline project wanna connect the continental SEA with maritime SEA, the pipeline between peninsular Malaysia/Singapore and Borneo might be longer.
IF
Unlikely though, at this point
oh, there's a subliminal message XD (actually is just one frame with the MEDIA OFFLINE screen lol)
Who else pause/unpaused at the 6:40 point to see what it said in that flash?
For those too lazy this is all it says: Media Offline Ten it says it in 9 other languages. Kinda amusing
2:35 you might wanna check your graphics. They seem to suggest that the internat diameter of 1153mm equals 0.045inch. Or maybe i am reading it wrong?
check pipe thickness
At 6:40 there's an odd frame in the vid
Why did you add a flash at the 6:40 mark when the American flag was waiving of "Medla offline" written in 10 different languages with a red background? It only last about one frame and took me forever to actually stop on it. What type of subliminal message are you trying to pull here Simon?
Simon is english so he likes throwing crap at the USA, but Russia is currently threatening Ukraine and using nordstream2, as leverage against Germany(the leader of the EU) to look the other way.... so even though he likes throwing doodoo at the usa, Trump was right.
@@davidanalyst671 Huh? You got all that from a fraction of a second blip that said media offline? Wow! That is deep bro! I just thought it was Danny subliminally begging for help! Lol
HMS there is no "the" preceeding it.
What is the yellow background picture that flashes at 6:40 when the American flag is on screen?
They never consider multi national borders
Room is still resonating at ~400 Hz this video. You need to put a PEQ on your narration track about -6dB at 400Hz with a Q ~1.
I've got one for you Mr. Whistler.... how about the Internet? I'm sure people would watch a video on how our fastest means for information (or misinformation) to be transferred came to be.
Two Germany Videos in a row!
Um... whats up with the text that blips up at 6:40 ? Media offline?
