You may have to reduce the split at first to get used from this "push up". It is easier to go from a standing position than just pushing out from the floor while seating. Hope it helps ;)
Not necessarily. It helps for sure but you can throw a jazz split with a smaller split. Stretch, go little by little and it will comes. The standing split is easier because it gives you a momentum. It is only a bit scarier than standing just from the floor ^^
