1992 This same sweet lady walked into the Christian bookstore I was working in and the first thing I noticed about her was the TCB necklace she was wearing around her neck...I asked her where'd she get the necklace from because only Elvis Presley gave those out..She said yes I used to sing backup for him! That's when I realized who she was! I said it's very nice to meet you! God Bless you! She responded "Thank you God has been good to me!" I didn't want to take up too much of her time so I allowed her to look around our store...She was very sweet and friendly!

Changed my life forever, and you are dead on.. Not more than 5 minutes into the show, I'm looking all around the stage thinking, 'where is the 2nd drummer, I only see one drummer on the stage.. I went on vacation down south as a child, in the early 60s. I was surprised how respectful and gentle people seemed to each other across the races. Nothing like I expected.
It was awful though to see different drinking fountains and doors for people according to their skin color. That was very shocking for me. My Grandpa told me to keep my mouth shut about it. He didn't want us to get lynched.

That's the nicest thing I've ever heard about Elvis. I loved him, and he loved us, and we knew it. I mean, imagine working with the biggest star in the world, and being made to feel like he was no different than your brother. That whole situation has the potential for being nerve wracking, but Elvis didn't let it happen that way. He made them comfortable.
