  • Lessons I learnt as I struggled to find a full time software engineering job during the tech layoffs in 2023. There's many great resources out there for resume, interview skills, this is more of the mental aspects that I have learnt and to reassure that it IS tough and you're not alone!

Very useful for me, I experienced lots of interview recent weeks, waiting for interview result is terrible.

I think 70 applications is insanely low if you've been unemployed for 200 days but at least you got into a good company in the end.

@@mrbunton2487 oh I was actually going through my last year of university during those 200 days so was applying for jobs during my last year of university. Yea 70+ applications isn’t a lot but think in general there were less new grad job listings during that 2023 period because of the whole situation

"The good thing is that you actually can get a reply".
That's how tough job hunting is now. It's considered good if you even get a reply - like c'mon setting up a rejection system with automatic emails isn't that hard, even I could do it 💀

Only 74 applications? Hahahah, you don't know nothing man. There are Senior Engineers out there that have worked in top tier companies (Total Energies, Swisscom, Julius Baër) where I'm working, Switzerland that can not find a job after more than 200 applications.
74 application is extremely low I would say, I hope you have very good experience there at your job :)
