It’s the BLUES, dudes! It’s a genre. It IS about heartbreak! Zep were masters of blues rock….along with many other genres. But blues was their initial grounding.

In the late sixties, Jimmie Page felt/realized he was one of the best guitar players in the world. He was leaving the wreckage of more than one "number one" Rock band, the most recent being The Yardbirds. He decided to build a band under the operating title of "New Yardbirds." His criterion: He hoped that every member (all younger than 20) would soon prove to be as good as Page in each of their roles in the band. IMHO, it worked out...

There are videos of 2 consecutive nights when they played this at MSG. The one I've seen most is the other one. I think I prefer the other one but they are both great. The other is not too different but Jimmy's guitar playing is slightly better I think and you see more of the audience reaction during the performance. I mean this could be a compilation of both nights' performances. I'm not sure.

We're used to seeing the movie.
These are edited clips put together from both shows utilizing the film shot from the other camera angles that were captured. Still good, but I prefer the movie, as I saw it in the Theater when released in 1976.

This was filmed over several nights at MSG. This night was not their best and it's hard to imagine how it got released. The best version probably has the most views.
Try the entire 26 minutes of Dazed and Confused from this same concert ! Too bad Stairway got blocked. Was it the live version from Madison Square Garden ? Strange. I 've seen many reviews of it. Hope you check it out on your own.

now go listen to the studio version. anytime you gonna react to a 60s or 70s song it should be studio version first and then a live performance. although the two live performances i can think of that i like more than the studio version is The Beatles - "Don't Let Me Down" rooftop performance & Santana - "Soul Sacrifice" Woodstock 1969 (look for the longer version) Try to upload your video again of "Stairway To Heaven" You might just have to crop it down or maybe trim it up a bit.
