- PLANET OF THE APES Clip - "Ape Lincoln" (2001) Tim Burton
Astronaut Leo Davidson whips through space and time to a world where apes and gorillas rule the humans. Captured, he is nurtured by Ari and hunted by General Thade as he leads a rebel group of humans and chimpanzees in search of his downed craft. This is his only hope of escape and, ironically, the planet's only hope of shaking off the tyranny of the gorillas, allowing peaceful humans and chimpanzees to co-exist.

Ape Lincoln Statue Looks Like Grinch
John C Reilly .... A boogie nights reunion
And then he was arrested and put into a zoo with the other humans!
No I’m guessing he was talking right away and the apes were shocked and surprised, so the government or something like that took him in to talk to him. Ask him questions like how he’s talking and where did he come from? Idk I just wish they did a sequel, this was my favourite movie when I was a kid and still is.
Había otros humanos tratando de escapar del planeta
@@tyasapace22exist other people or only him?
or maybe the Department of Human Control.
I would have like to seen another movie about that
According to Helena Bonham Carter in an interview, she reveals that Thade escaped and used Leo's ship to travel further back to the past before he did.
I still don’t get this explanation bc it’s like…. Thade traveled back far enough to replace the entirety of humanity with evolved apes but human history otherwise followed the exact same course (eg Washington DC, reflecting pool, Lincoln memorial??) And at the same time he lived recently enough in the past to have a statue of him around?
@@johnsonjohnson2823 we still have statues of mesopotamian kings, so not so recently
"You maniac! Look what you have done" 😅
This is absolutely comical, unlike the '68 ending, which was so terrifying that it left a permanent imprint on all who saw it at the time and during the TV runs in the '70s.
nah, shit was comical then too.
Such a cool ending, wish they did a sequel
It’s not too late for a sequel, maybe Peter Jackson should make it since Tim Burton won’t do it.
@@KingBobaFett434o Guillermo del Toro
This was similar to the ending of the original French novel.
@@KingBobaFett434that’ll never happen now that they’re focusing on their new trilogy
@@LunarXZ_ Says you.
I always loved this ending it's just as good as the ending from the 1968 film, seeing the helicopters coming in the background and the look of confusion on Mark's face is so well done
is this connected to Caesar?
@@ratstar4102 No, this movie is it's own seperate thing.
@@ratstar4102No, he landed on another planet
@@VNuxion just thinking why the apes have human themed uniforms
It's a really dumb ending though
Good reference to the Ulysses back home from the original book
This End confused me back then because I didn’t know anything about the multiverse but now that’s what happened right?
2:31 His reaction "WHAT THE"
Like fuck! Should have brought the chimp.
Mark Wahlberg's nostrils have more screen time than he does.
Mark Wahlberg needs to make a part 2 to this before he dies.

I agree he should do a sequel to this 01 movie
It’s not too late for a sequel, maybe Peter Jackson should do it.
Unfortunately the rights to the franchise are in the hands of the people who completely retconned most scifi elements in both the 1968 and 2001 films.
Odd while he went in the future, his ape went to the past
so why does ape lincoln statue doesn't wear shoes?
It’s not too late for a sequel.
we heard you the first 100 times. Geez.
Lol
It is now
@@Parker_-gc2do Says you.
It kind of is too late. It's already been more than 20 years. Plus the Planet of the Apes series was rebooted in 2011 and the new set of films have been more successful. I don't think 20th Century Fox is interested in making a sequel to the 2001 movie few people care about.
If Tim Burton won’t do a sequel then maybe someone should buy the rights to it and make it like Peter Jackson.
After the mess he made of King Kong...No Thanks.
I don’t think there’s a single movie Peter Jackson would want to make less
As a kid the ending convinced me this movie was the dumbest thing I had ever seen. Still true to be honest!
best part of the entire movie.
You kidding right?? This is one of the worst endings on film history
@@refikmehmeti5 I heard that back in the day. Why was it terrible? I thought the entire movie was terrible until it got interesting with that ending. I wanted to see what direction they would take it in a sequel that never happened.
@@dbloyd2 it simply doesnt makes sense thats why its such a bad ending first of all its so random like was it an inisde joke cause ape lincoln or what second why did the apes evolve and create the same stuff humans did such as the exact cars and helicopters humans created we are made to believe that apes went back in time so how exactly did the apes also coincidentally create the same inventions tim burton was smoking some cheap weed if he thought that this script was making any sense
@@refikmehmeti5 I was a fan of the Twilightzone series, I was use to those kinds of wacky endings. Coming from that mindset you described, I can understand why the ending was hated.
@@refikmehmeti5because it's like Battlestar Galactica. Everything that happened will happen again. Apes are not so different than humans so they would create the same things in a deterministic cycle..also it's easy to imagine that he studied human history went back and encouraged them to make this statue just like he knew humans would. In Scii Fi time travel territory this is really cool.
Homer Chimpson predicted all of this
When I was younger I was like "Well he's doomed." Now that I've matured to the nature of politics, I realize he's probably actually got a lot going for him in the age of scientific discovery and reason, even if he is the last human.
His ape land the craft perfectly and he crash land... like twice?
Hollywood movie cliché.
I still don't understand what this scene means when I watched this movie a long time ago like almost 15 years ago on TV, maybe I should and watch it fresh to understand this movie.
Nothing to understand, this ending is fun but this is not logical at all
Thade was locked with the time machine, then by some ways, Thade actived the machine and went to 18th century in which he led the monkeys again
There is another possible conclusion, the human race was effectively erased from the new timeline and he is the only human left.
If that’s true he’ll need a Time Machine to undo this nightmare.
Or if a multiverse exists, he traveled to another earth, just not his with a different history and some familiar names.
That is in fact how the original novel ended.
Paris, same time they left, same Eiffel Tower, same Orly Airport, but Ape police officers.
Ape Lincoln is Thade ba ba bah !!
for me because the film showed.(Not really showed) On how the apes went exactly what we humans live through many ages ago but (not mentioned in the film)hints the ending. (Apes)For example For them the stone age is how they've take over humanity , and medieval ages is what the film showed
My theory suggests that He (Matt Wahlberg) travelled to the future. Hints the Ape Lincoln
Sorry for bad english.
Return of Astronaut Aperaham Lincholn
Dark ending
like a book version
I think I got it!!! Lol. Just saw this clip for the time in years now and it hit me! It’s like back to the future part 2 when doc was explaining to Marty with the chalk board when Marty said so we go back to the future to keep biff from taking the book. Doc said we can’t because if we travel from this alternate present into the future it would the future of this-REALITY! They had to go back to 1955 to the very beginning. Same here. He traveled to the future from the planet ruled by apes in their “cave man era” or whatever time it was considered. It became reality. He needed to travel back in time to the point where the apes took over and prevent it from ever happening. Mark and his astronauts and their apes ruined everything
Aperiham Lincoln😂
Ape raham linclon
Debieron hacer la segunda parte de ésta película con el prisionero caído de las galaxia.
I can see a sequel being a reverse as that one original movie. Being the only human and eventually getting rights and freedom
Parallel universe thing
I wonder what the headlines of the news on that day would be?
He fed up he had a hunnie back home
Heroic deliberated slavery as ape?
Oh no
same place just a different time
Everything was doing great and cool in this movie until this end... i think this was the reason why the movie was messed up
He never gone from the "earth" it is another planet

No wonder this ending was bad. The guy who made this movie, Tim Burton, is the same who made Mars Attacks.
人間の文明があって、やっと地球に帰還したのにその地球は全員猿だったのは絶望したよ笑
It's the far future, yet all cars, technology and clothes look like late 1990s, early 2000s, as if the movie was released during that time.
Or Ape-aham Lincoln

Worst Movie Ending Ever!
Worst big budget movie that I ever saw. What a waste.
One of the worst movies I’ve ever seen
What I don't get is if this is the same planet he just left. Clearly the ape planet IS NOT earth and all that happened because of the crashed ship. Or did the apes eventually learn space travel and went into the storm and then arrived at earth people this guy because of the time storm?
He started on normal earth right before the apes got smart. He and his crew in space hit a cosmic storm that flung him into the future, they crashed on future earth unknowingly because the storm messed up the computer systems when they were crashing, he left what he thought was a different planet ruled by apes, passed back through the storm, flinging him even further into the future unknowingly, locates what the computer shows as earth, crashes and sees the statue of ape Lincoln (thade, an ape he'd already met) and realized that he was on earth the entire time.
Read the text behind Ape Lincoln, it's General Thade. So he ended up in the past and took over earth.
