    Attaching the doorbell to the mount is a little difficult but once it locks into place it seems extremely sturdy. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxxHZwMa8CsRjYhf9s4W8w0Dwm47uytWOp I replaced my regular doorbell with this and hard wired it in, using my existing wires and mechanical chime. It works perfect so far and integrates perfectly with my blink camera system. It also works seamlessly with Alexa

    New 2021 Ring doorbell wired on sale for $59 instructs you to connect the 2 terminals with a jumper to power the video doorbell. This renders your existing chime unusable. I wonder if the adapter kit will fix this new models drawback?

      Without a chime, you need a 50watt 25ohm resistor.

    This was very interesting and explained a lot. One thing, you called the this a puck then adapter and my old house has the same type od original doorbell (wiring is the same). Where can one get the "adapter" to put into it like you show? It makes a lot of sense the way you wired it but I just need the adapter (2) for the ring doorbell 3 I have at my 2 houses. Thank you for any information.

    Sir, I have wiring situation. My transformer has 2 white and 2 black wires (on the 16 volts side) connected to it. The white one’s are connected to one terminal together and black one’s are connected to second terminal together. Then I have 1 red and 1 white at the door bell button and i have 2 white wires and 2 red wires at the chime. Can u tell me how the wires are to be hooked up to the chime? Thanks

    is that the case for all the wired Ring door bells or just certain ones. I have been searching for a while to find out if any of the Ring Door Bells are 100% compatible with my homes
    existing chime that runs on A.C. around 20-25 volts. I want a plug and play. Swap out door bell with Ring and have it ring the existing chime. Is there a model that does this?

    Just purchased a ring door bell with internal (NON REMOVABLE BATTERY).
    The instructions are stating that a 25ohm/50W resistor to be installed in line with one of the two transformer wires. Am I able to splice the resistor into the transformer line at the actual chime, rather that going into the attic and attaching to the actual transformer? Any idea if this is just a recommendation by Ring or mandatory? Thanks.

    When I wire in the Power Pac that comes with the Ring just like the instructions and you mention (one wire to transformer and one to the front post), the door chime rings non-stop. Any thoughts? I watched a video that said the door bell - old school chime one in the house - could be disabled in the settings for the Ring doorbell.

    My installation works until I put the battery into the ring doorbell- why might this be?
    I have to disconnect a wire from the back of the doorbell and put it back with the battery removed to get the chime to work again- but without the battery I don’t have any of the ring/camera function. Any ideas?

    Suggest: add how charging the ring doorbell works. If the switch isn't closed (button not pressed) there's no power flowing so no battery charging occurring, right? But it works and trickle charges the ring battery as long as it's not used too much. How?

    • @johnnywilkinson9736
      @johnnywilkinson9736 2 года назад

      You have asked a sensible question because the author has not explained how the circuit works.
      Here goes: "between the TRANS and FRONT terminals of the chime, there is a solenoid coil which means there is no open circuit. It is quite high resistance but enough to charge the ring battery. The internal resistance of the RING is too high to activate the chime solenoid until the ring button is depressed."
      Does this help?

      C stands for Common wire. Unless you had a intercom system in which case it could stand for communication wire. The common wire is the same thing as a neutral wire.

    This video does NOT show you how to wire your existing chime to ring with the RING camera/button, it simply tells you how to jumper out your old chime to power the RING doorbell. RING wants you to buy their chime if want a chime to ring in your house. I see their labeling as false.

I told my wife she said forget it only solictores ring the bell anyone who comes over knows to knock. Few months ago someone stole some amazon packages (toothpaste, and a bag of cough drops). 17 years later I decide to buy the transformer go back to HD now it's $19.99.

    I have FOUR wires coming into the chime in our home. A white and red in one sheath and another white and red in a second sheath so we don't have "just 2 wires or even just 3 wires. ARGH!

    • @wirenut3020
      @wirenut3020 4 года назад

      J S that’s actually normal. One wire (pair) went to the transformer and one wire was run to the doorbell. No one runs that red wire continuous from the transformer to the doorbell. The secret is to wire nut the two red wires together, now you have a continuous red wire from your transformer to the doorbell. Now one white wire goes to the trans screw and the other white wire goes to the front screw

      @@wirenut3020 There are so many different configurations, it's nuts sometimes figuring out what's what. I just helped a neighbor with his new Ring Video Doorbell and his transformer blew five minutes after I left. I'm not sure why as I am pretty good with electronics and wiring and such. So, today I get up and he texts me to come help him replace the old transformer. I replaced the failed unit and wired according to the diagram he was telling he looked at and it is working again. I question what difference does it make where the white wire goes on the doorbell that only has two terminals. One terminal is labeled 'front' and the other 'trans', if I remember correctly. What is the difference between the two terminals?
