they don't say it here when it happens, but on the scene where a few Slayers leave Himejima's training... in the manga, there's a text saying that that training is not mandatory. i don't remember if that refers to all of the Hashira Training (that you can, like, just give up at whatever point (which i doubt)) or only refers to Himejima's boulder task (which makes more sense to me, because that task is nearly impossible for most, even Tanjirō stuggles a lot, no one is build like that xd), but anyways, the Slayers are not forced to complete that task, so that's why some ppl just leave. i suppose that those Slayers shown were there for days and finally just realize it was something way out of their league. which is fine. as you said, there are levels of what ppl can do and all jobs helping "the cause" are important. like, we have seen this before with the Kakushi, they don't have fighting skills so they're are the medical support, or the swordsmiths, that also can't fight but make the swords needed to slay demons. i love that theme of DS: even the youngest and smallest person can be vital to the cause :)
i'm late watching :c but great reaction as always!
ps: your cat was so cuuuuuute! xd

The total runtime for this season roughly equals 200+ minutes, over 3hrs.
And so far, Tanjiro has learned nothing he didn't already know, or doesn't have a last minute bullshit power-up up his sleeve to lead them all to victory.
So far Nezuko, the second most important character in the story, has had less than a minute of screen time. You'd think she out of everyone needs this Hashira training more than anyone, but no.
So far Muzan, the third most important character story-wise, has had less than ten minutes of runtime THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE SERIES.
The time and sheer talent wasted on this ultimately pointless side quest (because yes, it is pointless; nothing of this training echoes in the finl battle) is mind-numbing.

Dude, you're so wrong on so many levels, it's amazing. Why the hell should Nezuko participate in the training? If Muzan gets her, it's over, the humans lost, and no amount of training will change that.
Tanjiro has gotten VERY STRONG, so much so that he's now at the level of any of the pillars, and can activate the mark at will. And he's going to need that level in the final battle, and we've learned about the Pillars, important characters for the future. Calling this training useless is simply ignoring a lot of things that go into making a good story, more than just "new things the characters didn't know."
By the way, I'm a manga reader, so I know 100% that everything that's said and done here will have an impact on the final battle.
You should separate the facts, and how you feel about them.

the total runtime for this season so far has been 164 minutes (including OP and ED), 2 hours and 44 mins.
Tanjirō has learned better accuracy for his attacks with Obanai, Repetitive Action with Genya and a bit more from the Hashira (which is also new info for the audience) this season.
it's never outright said (because DS style of writing is a lot of times "show-don't-tell", the author doesn't literally says a lot of things and just "shows them", they put out "the clues" and the reader has to put some attention and figure them out), but Repetitive Action _kinda is_ a "last minute bs power-up up his sleeve to lead them all to victory", is basically the thing that helps him keep the mark for longer periods of time. before (s3), Tanjirō understood how to concentrate to make the mark appear again, remembering how it appeared when fighting UM6, but from now on he will have the mark for longer periods of time, probably _because_ he learned this new technique. tho, sure, it's more of a "passive power-up".
how would Nezuko be able to make a mark appear (one of the the objectives of the Training) if she can't do the Breathings? besides, if even the Hashira were so eager to end her the moment they met her, how would you expose her to all of the Demon Slayer Corps and expect her not to be in any danger? she's prob better in hiding. tho, i definitely agree that Nezuko is often sidelined. she's a character that ultimately serves more as a plot device than an actual character and that's bad and sloppy writing from Gotōge, especially considering she's a "protagonist".
a lot of antagonists and villains in works of fiction are famous for having the least amount of screentime (despite being so important for the plot) but leaving such great impressions, most of them are fan favorites even over the hero. so i dunno why is this a problem for Muzan. we already know his backstory and everything we need, and he's primarily plotting anyways. this is "the calm before the storm", as we've been reminded constantly. it is not his moment yet.
i'd argue that _a lot_ of this training echoes in the final battle tho, if you read the manga you should know. tho i sincerely understand if this arc can be a little underwhelming for some ppl, especially if they want more fast-paced action, and that's fine to an extent. this arc is not supposed to be like the others, it's more similar to the Rehabilitation Training Arc really. and both that and this arc are 9 manga chapters.

Wow, media literacy is so dead. Literally completely wrong on Tanjiro. Also blantantly ignoring all the development and focus Nezuko has had up until now to say she hasn't had much screen time in the arc. Might as well complain that every character isn't a major focus of every arc in any story. And completely ignoring the unlimited depth of Muzan the series has already provided to us with and continues to provide us with. And not even understanding basic storytelling and once again, completely lying about the last arc. This comment is what is truly mind-numbing.

@@felipeaquitral You're right for the most part, but wrong about repetitive action as it is based on real world martial arts techniques and budhhist ideals as is commonly used in the story and has been set up since earlier. Most of all though, you are definitely entirely wrong on Nezuko as she cannot possibly be referred to as simply a plot device when she is a fantastically fully developed character all throughout.
