It’s crazy to me how Toei could casually own two of the biggest anime IP currently globally but not give both the absolute best treatment. I love One Piece more, but Dragon Ball deserves its respect too. It’s still a very big and very profitable series in different areas of the world they would definitely benefit from promoting it. Not to mention it’s the last thing Toriyama worked on. That alone should get them to market it everywhere.

This video really covered everything a lot of us have been thinking since the reveal of Daima. It's sad that Toriyama’s final work isn't even getting the love and promotion it deserves. I also appreciate you going over the OP VS DB stuff, the communities need to just appreciate and respect both series since they're both amazing. No need to put the other down or blame another for the problems of bad promotion. I hope we see Daima start getting more soon. Things gotta change man.

I hate One Piece art and always been meh on the pirate stuff, but it is legitimately a classic and deserves the praise it gets. Pretty sure globally Dragonball is much bigger internationally than OP like OP is so much bigger than DB in Japan.

Lmao One Piece is considered to be one of the greatest pieces of fiction ever created and is in its final saga. Saying that the company is "stupid" for focusing on a series that is literally at the peak of its story with world breaking moments happening almost every other week is crazy...
This is literally the most important time to hype up the series and try to bring in as many new fans as possible into the series before Luffy finds the One Piece.

Look I love DB, been a fan of this series for over 25 years now but calling Toei/Shueisha stupid for focusing on One Piece over Daima is ridiculous. One Piece is making history as we speak while Daima will be forgotten in less than five years. They know which to prioritize.
Yes they could definitely work on a better marketing cuz they suck at it but don't call them stupid for focusing on a more important and popular series that is ongoing right now.

But the thing is, a major corporation like Toei SHOULD be able to multitask. One Piece and Dragon Ball are not mutually exclusive IPs. It is possible to heavily promote them both at the same time.

I wonder if Super Heroes success IS the problem. Japan probably realises Dragon Ball will just automatically sell. Super Hero proved they don't need to spend money in advertising and promotion. If anything Dragon Ball comes out, it'll sell and make bank purely on name value and fan hype. So since Dragon Ball will sell no matter what, why not actively push One Piece?

I understand that One Piece is one of the main hits that made them popular, but why they threat like DB never deserved good promotion? They acted like he's not important for them. Well, this is the last project in which, according to Toriyama, he was really involved, the last thing we will see with his participation. It's just wild that when Toriyama passed the entire world mourned. And yet toei seen that and still decides not to promote his final work. I love one piece too and part of it is because I can see the dragon ball influence while still being it's own thing. I just don't understand after the entire world was mourning that they wouldn't use this moment to promote his final work with dragon ball. They really need to put some respect on Toriyama's name, people forget he's the man the godfather of anime and manga Osamu Tezuka passed the torch too.

It happened with Super Hero. There were hardly *any* hype from Toei about it, as if they dropped it quietly and left it at that. Broly on the other was everywhere and promoted heavily.
Dragon ball is like zelda in the sense that they could do super minimal advertising and people would still get hyped , Nintendo could literally just make a Twitter post that's like "yep zelda movie is coming" and nothing else

Heck, they haven’t even been good at promoting Digimon either! I literally had to look ON MY OWN on their RUclips channel just to see if there was *finally* anything about the English release of the 02 movie! That had quite possibly even less promotion than Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero (as in, you would have been lucky to have even known the film existed since there was so little, if ANY, promotion in the west for the film, and it was to the point where, unless you were already REALLY into Digimon and kept up with the latest news, you likely wouldn’t have even known it existed until the movie stopped being in theaters)! They also kept details about the English dub of the Adventure 2020 reboot heavily under wraps for over a YEAR after they finally announced it, and by the time that it was finally announced to be coming to streaming, it wasn’t even a month before it released.
Here's my question: Why would Toei promote a series that comes out in the Fall, which is 4 months from now? Like, Fairy Tail 100 Year Quest literally just got a big trailer, and that's been in production since 2021. No shit they're going to promote One Piece over Dragon Ball, One Piece is weekly, DB hasn't been for 6 years.
I love Dragon Ball, but some of y'all need to think sometimes.

I think, why Toei is focusing on One Piece, is that One Piece's creator is still alive, whereas Torimyama is no longer with us. Also, if Toei's not gonna give viewers any info about Daima, then there's no point in even watching it. I also think that Toei doesn't want to have their thunder stolen from them b/c of Toriyama's passing.

As a lifelong fan of dragon ball and a more recent 5 year fan of one piece, it’s incredibly stupid that there’s infighting between the two groups. Yeah, I understand people thinking One Pieces success and Tori’s focus on it could be taking away from Dragon ball, but it really does come down to Toei not taking as much advantage of dragon balls success as they could. Db and One Piece are both in my top 3 favorite anime/manga series of all time, and it sucks to see fans divided on them and not being able to enjoy both for the amazing series they are

Dragonball has had poor advertisement since it was revitalized with battle of gods. Daima is unknown to the average consumer and if it isn't on a streaming service that pushes it to the masses it will have disappointing viewership. Whoever runs this likes DB but doesn't love it enough to put in the effort to hit all the markets.

Bro I understand the frustration of long-awaited content release from Toei specifically the Dragon ball IP, But Toriyama passed only 2 months ago, this definitely Hindered a lot of dragon ball Decision making and planned schedule for marketing material and release of the Daima anime. Understanding Japanese Shinto Buddhist culture, The Grievance of toriyama's Death isnt just held by his relatives but by Anyone who was involved with his work and of course the fans. I can definitely see why Toei would push back specific dates they had in mind, to take time to reorganize themselves to see how dragon ball as a whole will move forward after his death. If you go back to the letter they released, confirming Sensei's death, it even explicitly mentions Toriyama was working on Projects before his passing. What will happen to those unfinished products and who will finish them. An Insurmountable amount of pressure has been placed on Toyotarou, I can only imagine the amount of emotional, mental pressure to carry on his Idol work. One piece can carry on like usual because IDK, The Author of the series is still alive and stirring his pot. with toriyama's death The Captain of the ship is Dead who is gonna steer the ship now?
I agree with this honestly. For the time being at least we have Dragon Ball Sparking Zero to look forward to.
You would think they would come up with a new idea or not without having to look in the past….. please tell me one new feature that is new in Dragon Ball super that wasn’t or hasn’t been a of dragon ball already …. yeah it’s nice to get ANYTHING new at this point … I’m not against one piece at all .. but there’s clearly favorites picked when it comes to what is getting the most attention despite being number one worldwide….
I don't think so db need promotion it's big franchise. Trust me when the episodes of daima will drop it will surpass every anime including OP
My only guess is that there is some sort of internal fight over the money distribution between all the production committee members (shueisha, bandai, toei, capsule corp tokyo/dragon room) that is making them not want to release further product so not to give the one in power the majority of the earnings. And maybe Toei has a better deal with Shueisha regarding One Piece which incentivizes them to push it harder than Dragon Ball because they keep a bigger portion of the pie.
Its insane how little info we're getting about this series. I mean, forget the One Piece side of this equation, look at how other big anime has been promoted! When Bleach anime came back after nearly a decade off the air they hyped it up to the gills and are continuing to do so! Same thing with MHA, Jujitsu Kaisen, and the list goes on! Yes, I know those respective shows are handled by different studios and not Toei, but that's not the point! The point is, the Dragonball franchise is effectively the granddaddy of these properties and THIS is how it gets treated? I have no idea what Toei is thinking? There's alot of other studios that would love to have the Dragonball franchise under their roof, and Toei is just acting like its just another back marker series.

@@DragonBallGOAT I don't think it's so much that they hate Dragonball, but more that they have an EXTREMELY outdated way of promoting it as well as being blinded by greed raking in the cash both franchises produce for Toei. While I'm more of a Dragonball fan than a One Piece fan, I still highly respect what One Piece has become as a franchise! That being said, Toei could show at least a little more love and respect to Dragonball Diama as well! I mean, if Studio Pierrot can show how much they care equally about their 2 top franchises (Bleach and Naruto), you would think Toei would do the same, instead of promoting one series and and then basically saying "We don't need to advertise, it's Dragonball, it makes us money regardless"! @@Kanata_Satou as the guy who has been obsessed with Godzilla since he was 4 and owns every Godzilla movie on dvd and almost all of the tv shows (many weird/ super hard to find Japanese ones aren’t available such as Godzilla kingdom) I honestly enjoyed both a lot. Obviously minus one is superior but I still had a blast with the new empire. Why can’t we enjoy both. I love Godzillas revenge and I love the original.

I told my friends, regardless of how good Diama is, I’m going to love it. This is Toriyama’s last passion project, I’m going to love it because he loved it.

I think the reason why they're not releasing more is the backlash and hate it might get. The fan base (rightfully imo) didn't have a great reaction to Daima's reveal. Maybe they're hoping for a quiet debut to test the waters and see how far they want to take the show? Or maybe they're afraid more reveals/ leaks will cause more rage before the series is already released.

Geekdom my friend. They don't care. Or rather they don't care as much as you. It's all about Corporate greed. The only reason they promoted this Dragon Ball Franchise is because of Akira Toriyama. He was the driving point behind this Franchise. I've seen this coming from a mile away. As long as Toriyama kept putting out content for his Corporate Monkeys they were happy. They had no love for DB at all. Maybe at first but so many entertainment companies after long periods of time they eventually stop caring as much. Instead of passion they see profits and greed. They only give a shit because Toriyama and Torataro keep making Dragon Ball. That's the only reason they care. But now that Akira Toriyama has died and only Torataro is left. They no longer have faith or even care for Dragon Ball Franchise anymore. Eventually they'll most likely discontinue it because Toriyama is dead. And will keep moving on to other Animes. So I don't see Dragon Ball future lasting too long with these Corporate Monkeys in charge. Did I leave anything out?

It's kind of sad that Toei Animation focused on One Piece (it's a good series; but it's not big like Dragon Ball) and not promoting Dragon Ball Daima. Well they should focusing on One Piece and Dragon Ball since its their anniversaries to celebrate. Speaking of celebrate, they haven't promote anything new for Digimon (which its another Toei Animation series) either, and that series is celebrating this year for its 25th anniversary.

I guess toei doesn't like money, they already have the Moro arc in the Manga, which could be one of the best arcs and would break the internet but instead they put money on GT 2.0 and focusing on the bad portion of GT and not the good parts

They had a whole ass exhibit for the Broly movie for the World Tour in 2018 at Fan Expo here in Toronto and all the other Conventions around the world… I saw that shit 8 times in theatres it was so good.. Not to mention we’ve been talking about a new anime since 2018 and the time slot on tv that a new Dragon Ball anime could possibly take. Japan, Toei, Shueisha, whoever, have grossly mishandled Dragon Ball IP since the end of Super. Absolute joke.

Sorry but everything DB released after GT has been utter garbage! Super is a disgrace to the DB series and Daima looks just as generic/lifeless/nonsensical as Super. I and many other fans will just stick to DB/Z/GT (even those GT wasn't good either, it's still better than Super).
I think people jumped the gun on this one, after Toriyama's passing, that caused new in plans and delays, it's gonna air on Japanese TV, not just streaming, but then again looking back, when Dragon Ball Super came out, it was barely promoted, and yet all eyes are at it when infamous episode 5 aired. Now it's gonna be promoted in bigger event outside of Japan.

I have mentioned this on other posts you did teasing this video, i kind of get that they are just being slow with promoting DB. Not only do i feel like they don't wanna overhype it like they did with early Super, but also what's exactly there to hype? Daima is coming later this year so i'm just hoping they start promoting by July at least since otherwise you're just overhyping something way ahead of time, but with Super...i mean there's NO Super right now, Toyotaro took a break so what's exactly there to promote?
And again, i get it, Toriyama's passing is probably playing a factor here. I mentioned this before, but i wouldn't be surprised if the reason they're not promoting DB is out of fear of coming off as disrespectful.
You really cannot win in things like this because if they promoted it, it would come off as tasteless to exploit the work of a death man right after he died, but we also have the other side of the coin where now it comes off as tasteless to not promote his final work. I guarantee you people would be complaining one way or another. Hell, you bring Broly as an example, people DID complain about that show sharing too much, especially with the final trailer.

So many elements of dbz are in one piece. For example in the newest arc they use the old scouter sound from dbz , they’ve used dbz’s power up sounds etc etc. i love both 🥰

The amount of times I’ve heard from friends I know that don’t really know what it’s about and say “ So it’s just Cocomelon with Dragon Ball.” Is crazy to me. Toei really does not market DB correctly anymore unless it’s like a game or something. Although I think that would be more Bandai than Toei.
As a Dragon Ball Fan.. I'm just still excited what Dragon Ball Daima is going to be like.. I'm still waiting for other anime to come out or what's the next season to one of my favorite anime shows like for example HunterXHunter, Blue Exorcist, Digimon, Pokemon, and Yugioh.. But for what's next for Dragon Ball we'll just have to wait and see the results..

You brought up a lot of great points in particular the meaningless arguments between one piece and dragonball fans when it really is the poor mistreatment the series as a whole gets not promoting it as much as it could be. Baffles me why they don't do it justice it deserves especially this series being the last known work of Akira Toriyama like why can't they actually do him justice for creating a beloved series that has brought them success? I hope Daima eventually gets more revealed as it is sad that people have already formed an opinion without even seeing or knowing much about it.
Dragonball is dead the only value they see in it is to license out to other media. This is why Super was mostly a rehash of Z and everything since then is barely promoted.

well I mean I don't watch/read One Piece, but I can clearly see why it's highly prioritized. Oda puts a lot of love & passion to the series. While also being inspired by Toriyama & anime/manga as a whole. It's been on going for *YEARS* non-stop, so it deserves the praise & title it gets. Meanwhile when it was announced that Dragonball was coming back, the community exploded. My Hero was turning into a roaring success. One Piece took the throne as number one. So it would be amazing to see how Dragonball Super would turn out.... Turns out we got a half baked, rush job, that even Toei believed this is something for "new animators" to work on. So it didn't help that the pacing was wack, art was terrible, and it didn't look as good as other series Toei putting care into. Now we got stuff like Tournament Of Power, Super Broly, and Super Hero, but it was far too late. The damage was done.
It's amazing to see how One Piece is the top dog now days. It earned it! Just it sucks to see that Dragonball, one of the grandfathers of this genre, can't get the same level of love & respect. As for the Dragonball x One Piece wars, that's just the anime community for you. You would think with a big name as Dragonball, Toei would produce & promote something just as good. It's like they don't even know what to do with it, if I gotta be honest.
Either way, I'm still gonna watch Daima. GT2 or not, it still looks interesting.
