Added so many of these to my TBR list. Screaming at the fact that The Black Feathers doesn't come out in the US until August. I'm also a bit gasping at the fact that your favorite book of the year is one that you talked about not really thinking would be your thing when you first picked it up. Sometimes the universe knows us better than we know ourselves haha. 🏆🏆 As for me, 3 of my top 5 books were by Brandon Sanderson who I started reading this year. It's been a time.
I have The Cloisters now on my TBR list because of the way you said you "like to read" feeling all the little details as though you are seeing a movie. That's me; so I'm all in! Have a lovely day! Elizaabeth
Oh I didn't notice that about Jamie. Totally did the same as you listening to the audiobook. It also happens to Murderbot, as I listen to the series I keep wanting to say "he" when talking about Murderbot.
The Other Bennett sister was so good, it made my top 5 of 2023. As a big P&P fan, it has also changed how I see people's treatment of her in a different light. Such a great book! I started the red rising series after your recommendation, done with the first 3, snd I absolutely love it. Golden Sun is my favourite as well although the first book comes as a very close second. Thanks gor talking about them so much, I'm very happy to have discovered the series 😊
🏆 I need to finally get to Red rising this year! As well as Razorblade Tears. I don't like true crime although I did really enjoy Sadie a few years back and it's a fake true crime book. There's a true crime prompt on one of the reading challenges I'm doing this year, so I may pick up Penance for it. My favorite book of 2023 is probably Bound to the Battle God by Ruby Dixon. I had a blast reading it and I read it really fast despite the length. The Dry by Jane Harper was a very close second.
I love the way you talk about books. A lot of the time, our tastes don’t line up, but that doesn’t matter. I watch all your videos because of your thoughtful commentary and enthusiasm.
For some reason hearing your glee talking about The Kaiju Preservation Society made me just have to recommend Hollow Kingdom by Kira Jane Buxton. I really think you would enjoy it. It’s not zero stakes, but it’s fun and irreverent and not enough people know this good novel (and its excellent sequel) is out there.
I love the Other Bennet Sister & the Cloisters. I knew what was going to be #1 😁 Your hair looks lovely, love the length. I hope you shake the lurgy soon 🤒🥴 🤗
I hadn’t heard of ‘the things we do to our friends’ at all, so thanks for that. Loving the cat cameos. My first video has my dog refusing to get off my lap!
I read the Red Rising trilogy years ago but only got to the half point of book 3. I just couldn't handle it emotionally xD But I'll definitely reread and finids the series this year. I also got the Iron Editions (that I also spotted on your little wagon) so I just have to.
I’m always so impressed when people can rank their best books; it could never be me! 😂 thanks for keeping me company whilst I am in full Sofa Goblin mode and I hope you’re feeling better ☺️💛🏆
i haven't read any of these, though Kaiju Preservation Society has been on my tbr!! i think my favorite book of the year is a tie between Theft of Swords by Michael J Sullivan (the whole series tbh) and A Taste of Gold and Iron by Alexandra Rowland. I picked up Theft of Swords per your leverage comparison and i ADORE it!! so much fun, the story and characters are so well developed, etc etc. ATOGAI is the best queer fantasy i have ever read and I can't wait to read everything else the author has written
I KNEW that little rant about leaving a book on your shelf was going to be about The Other Bennet Sister ❤❤❤ I'm still so happy you finally read that 👌👌
🏆 i lived the other bennett sister so much, im always very hesitant with pride and prejudice add ins but this was perfect and actually came to love mary so much. red rising!! aaahhhhh!! i so fell in love with this series last year, one, i don’t even know why or how or what has been done to me, but my goodness this is sooo good, one of my absolute favourites of all time, truly amazing 🤩
🏆 based on some of the things you said about Red Rising, I wonder if you have read The Traitor Baru Cormorant yet? It sounds as if that might align well with your taste! That book absolutely delighted and destroyed me.
Hope you feel better soon 💗 Razorblade tears is on my list of books to read at some point! That is my kind of thriller, the one that delves into all the themes. And we agree on the other bennet sister!! it's amazing and I love how it mimicked jane austen's writing style, and portrayed Mary and her journey. Probably one of my favourite Pride and Prejudice retellings/continuations. Ooh and I picked up penance in the boxing day sales but it doesn't exactly sound like a me book, so I'm going to take a chance on it. I am hoping to read my first john scalzi book this year. Yesss I loved red rising so much!! So so good in terms of balancing action and scifi as well. I have the next 2 books waiting for me on my shelf and I just need to get to them.
Love the hair! Love the top ten, (love to see The Cloisters make the list), and love that you love the Red Rising series and are able to review forward without spoilers - thank you! I picked this up because of you and I am enjoying the journey :) ps my #1 was split : Summer Sons by Lee Mandelo and Whalefall by Daniel Kraus (would love to see a review if you pick them up)
I’ve read the first paragraph of Red Rising 3 times now (twice physically, once audibly), and it still hits so hard. There are also only 3 books that have specific chapters I remember because of their emotional impact- and chapters 5 & 6 are on that list. I’m literally only halfway through Red Rising & I restarted with the audiobook 😂
🏆My favorite book of 2023 was a bit of a surprise for me-a non-fiction about re-wilding and rainforests in Ireland- “The Irish Atlantic Rainforest” by Eoghan Daltun
Re: short books, I also feel personally offended when a publisher expects me to pay full list price for less than a hundred pages. When I'm buying a standard length novel, I'm going to get hours of entertainment out of that. If we're talking about a novella, I'll probably finish it in a day, maybe two if I have less free time.
🏆 Hiya Leanne! I have read the first chapter or so of Red Rising but I must say that I find Darrow so annoyingly adolescent, it kind of puts me of, is it normal???
Hi. I was wondering if we could recommend book my favorite book in high school, and even now is The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates by Wes Moore (it is a good audio book and and physical book to read...I won't say to much about it other than it is a POC memoir and will give you some emotions because of the hardships they face...I won't say anymore than that I have a very bad habit of spoiling this this book 😂...I think you might like...been here for awhile but shy to comment)
Oh wow, finally I disagree with your opinion on a book! The Cloisters were one of my dnfs for the year... but maybe it's just the audio book's fault 🤷♀️
I wanted to read Pierce Brown's books until he came out in support of Israel. Taylor Jenkins Reid came out in support of Israel as well along with many authors 😫
YOUR HAIR LOOKS SO CUTEEEEE!
Omg The Other Bennet Sister is one of my favourite books of all time!!!! Yaaaaaaas girl!!!

Great to see you back in another video, I absolutely bloody love your hair 🤗🤗

Razor Blade Tears! I think this is one of my all time favorites. I also liked The Scourge Between Stars. I hope you feel better soon.
Yay! So happy to see Scourge Between Stars on your list! I loved it and definitely agree it's underrated
I hadn’t heard of ‘the things we do to our friends’ at all, so thanks for that.

I also enjoyed The Other Bennet Sister, it was fascinating to see P&P from Mary's point of view and then reading about her life afterwards 🏆
Literally just borrowed The Scourge Between Stars from my library! It sounds right up my alley 🏆
I loved the Kaiju Preservation Society too. I want more.
I’m always so impressed when people can rank their best books; it could never be me! 😂 thanks for keeping me company whilst I am in full Sofa Goblin mode and I hope you’re feeling better ☺️💛🏆

Ok, I've just add 4 books to my TBR
❤📚❤️ I loved The Other Bennet Sister!! I love your hair too! Edit: I knew it was Red Rising!!!😅😅
Your hair is 🔥 every single book except The Cloisters are going straight into my TBR. The Cloisters was sublime so thanks for the recommendation.
The ebook of Penance is coining through on my library app at the start of February... I'm excited!
I have only heard of two of these, I do really need to get round to the Kaiju book though
🏆 i lived the other bennett sister so much, im always very hesitant with pride and prejudice add ins but this was perfect and actually came to love mary so much.

Have you read "To Shape a Dragon's Breath" by Moniquill Blackgoose? It was one of the first books I read this year and I can't stop thinking about it.
Your hair looks amazing. Really suits you ❤
🏆 All of these are going straight to my TBR!
Loved kaiju
🏆😂 At least I'm not the only one who puts off reading books I know I'll probably love.
Finally home and able to watch this! 🎉🎉🏆🏆
Kaiju was wonderful in audio. It’s narrated by Wil Wheaton 😊

My #1 was The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi by Shannon Chakraborty

Me sat here still wishing for a sequel to The KPS
About A Son sounds mega!
If you haven't All Sinners Bleed by SA Cosby you should .
