I think it would be work building it to take boost at a later stage, test and adjust after it is running to make sure you don't get kicked out of the drag strip before you can really get it working well. May also be worth looking into a built Turbo 400 with a transbrake.
I would probably have gone for the easy route of the C20XE out of the Barina with a biiiig turbo (but I guess it sold as it’s not in the back of the shot). So with that in mind, the 6.4 is the only option.
They do say that with enough Vaseline, anything will fit 🤣🤣. But let's be honest, this is one of the best pastime that we as Australian's love to do, take the biggest engine lying around stuff it into the small Car we can find. Normally it involves a bit of liquid encouragement first, but hey. If Telfo approves, then SEND IT!!!
I like the idea 😊 Will take a lot of supporting mods to make it safe though with RnP steering, brakes, suspension, at least a 4 bar link in the rear, tubs for bigger rubber out back and gotta hide it all under the standard bonnet for ultimate sleeper 😉
I reckon a turbo 202 with a manual would go well in there, the 6.4 may technically fit, but good lucky servicing it, and the tunnel mods to fit the box would be excessive.

I think you should do something a little different with the torana. Swap in a vortec 2200 and turbo it. It's a 2.2 4cyl ohv engine that came in the chevy s-10 compact utes in the states.
Just do it! Heaps of LS Torana's around, can't imagine there's too many with a Hemi! Maybe stock first, hit the dyno and track and then build from there to make a good series out of it. Maybe race the MX5 when it's boosted?
hi Scotty mate, like that old shoe ad , just do it 😁👍👍. put a strange diff and tub the wheel arch for bigger tyres and disc brakes all round, some tuff gear box with lockup and 2 stage . a cam and lifter package isn't that much, run 5w40 oil. get rid of the piston deactivation and don't increase the riv limit past stock and you can run it as is. 400hp in that will be crazy as . love it do it . hell yeah.
Do the hemi but make sure it’s really nice. The car looks straight so it would be awesome to make a really clean, fast, tory. Old school street machine style.
If the powers to be approve it go for it, but if they say no would it be possible to look at throwing a turbo charged V6 ecotec in it? Or if worst comes to worse a turbo alloytec?
a ram 1500 steel oil pan and pick-up tube should work to move pan on the back if you cant use the 6.4 pan...and since its steel you can modify it to fit you're need...we did in for a hellcat in a 72 dart
You'll have to mid mount it, the trans tunnel will be to small. Think about all the weight hanging over the front Alex. If you want it to hook up your going to need to put the engine so that it pulleys are inline with the front crossmember. Going to need a chassis to take the engine n trans, and something to take a 9 inch. Big job to make it go fast. Like the idea
Yes for the hemi in the torana Scotty but an idea would be a burnout build maybe as you guys have the Mazda drag car the trolvo drag car turbo taxi supermang and the drag challenge wagon something different would be awesome just an idea but up to you guys

I've always reckoned an Alloytec would be cool in it. Keeps it Holden, and if you put a decent timing chain and guides in it, they're a solid motor. I'm positive there was a 10 second LC/LJ with an NA Alloytec back in 2007?

YES love it stick the Hemi in there but add rods, pistons, cam etc, if your going to go big GO BIG
Would definitely be an interesting build, you don’t see many people putting hemi’s in Australian built vehicles, but meaning that, it could be a lot of work in the scope of things but my vote is a Hemi powered Torana 👌🏻
Scotty, it would be great to see the Torana road registered, if you can do it with the Hemi it would be great, would be a big job for sure.
LS been done. Do the hemi. But put big cam in. Don't go turbo route. Also is hemi only just fits where are you going to put turbo
You will need to do brakes etc
That’d be an awesome build to watch, definitely chuck that hemi in!
Looks mint. But you won't need a turbo/super on that Hemi. Burnouts for days with that stock motor, in that tiny chassis. It'll be a right handful.
Definitely do the Hemi, personally I think it would be an awesome not only for us viewer’s but also for you guys as a project!
I'm all for the hemi in to the torana drop a turbo on the side cut up the bonnet add a cowl for a bit of extra height the thing will be nuts
I've always reckoned an Alloytec would be cool in it. Keeps it Holden, and if you put a decent timing chain and guides in it, they're a solid motor. I'm positive there was a 10 second LC/LJ with an NA Alloytec back in 2007?
lfx/lgx is a very capable engine.
Ewwww lol
UNIQUE. HEMI IN TORANA IS THE BEST IDEA.
LS HAS BEEN DONE. ITS JUST AN ORDINARY CONVERSION. YOU GUYS ARE KNOWN FOR DIFFERENT AND CRAZY. DONT TAKE A STEP BACK. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS.
LOVE TO SEE THE HEMI WORKED IN THE TORANA. ITS A NO BRAINER🙏🙏🙏🙏
NO BRAINER GUYS. TORRY THE HEMI!!
WHY ARE WE YELLING?!?
Many moons ago, I had a HB Torana, I put a 3.0L V6 from a Capri in it. went pretty good but, it turned the chassis into a pretzel. Just saying.
LS or Hemi either is good. Exciting would be LS in front and Hemi at the back, mid mounted in the back seat/ boot area.
Great idea mate, but I'd get the 1.3 running first and blow it up, then use the Hemi..
LS is done to death on the toobs, put the Hemi in. It will be an interesting build, no doubt it looks like it fits but damn it's gonna be tight and would be interesting to see how you work around it. If people are fitting 2jz's in these I'm sure you can fit the Hemi, well length wise anyway as I think your going to need a mega power bulge to retain the bonnet.
Deffinetly go the hemi in the torana. Bit of cutting and persuasion I rekon it will fit. Imagine the power to weight 😮
I’m very keen for this content with the hemi - especially as a 1/4 mile development style build series possibly with some nitrous which would be very interesting content and newer territory for the channel. So much forced induction drag racing going on, this would be refreshing
Nitrous is forced induction
@@STREETMACHINETV Haha yes true (thanks mate) the bottle is pressurised I hadn’t thought of it that way, I guess I meant having a break from blowers and turbos 👍🏻
Would love to see a Hemi powered something on an Aussie RUclips channel, I'm over 1J this & 2J that or Barra or LS powered everything, finally something different on RUclips, will be definitely be watching if this goes ahead 🤩
TA Hemi NA on the 1/4 oh HELL YES.
Scotty, you are definitely different. There is no argument from this crowd mate.
Whatever the power's choices are, we will still watch the build,
I wanted to see the L67 in the TA, but the Hemi sounds a lot better.
Sort of like the old cortina.... lead tipped arrow with marginal brakes thrown in. Love the idea but would only be good for one thing, the drags. What do you think about something smaller and lighter, not sure of what but with huge suspension development to make an insanely capable all-rounder? Maybe 1000hp sr20 or something? Damn quick down the quarter but just as quick through the bends. Big block barina on steroids.
Love the material being published, keep doing a stellar job!
K24a3 in the torana. kpower makes a miata and ft86 kit you could adapt one of them to work.
Get it in there Scotty, This car will never be engineered etc, so realistically, you can do what you want.. This is automotive art at it's finest.. Leave it stock, get the suspension and grip right. Won't need huge ridiculous power
It does sound like a good idea but what about a rotary easier to get in easier to turbo and can produce alot of hp in the lite little torana
There's also a factory manifold that sits about 1-1/2 to 2 in. lower as well.
they did make a later style torana not sure about if it was a lh model but it came out with a 1.9l opal engine and it was crap
Definitely cutting out that firewall, and I reckon the steering rack is not safe either, but I reckon the hemi and lockdown wagon are destined for one another 👌
Don't forget the trans tunnel too. It's growing on me though. Hemi + top mount SC... Wheelie machine
Mid mount behind the front seats!
Move the foot wells forward.
