    INTJ here. Would just like to say if we all come together we can rule the world. Who would be down?

      This relies on the presumption that the rarest personality type can overcome the 97-98 per cent that is the rest of the world. Without denying our competence that would suggest the rest are lambs. Also, while the urge to do good by being in charge might seem justification enough it is hardly countenanced without concrete plans as to what comes after. If you were joking, then so was I. Cheers

      We don't know what personality types are rare due to how common it is for people to mistype themselves.

      I do agree that some people do mistype themselves I do however think it is unlikely that someone who tests out intj will do so we are just too unusual of a combination and although we take a very long time to develop ourselves we don't actually change how we think. I tested out as intj at 20, 27 and just now twelve years later. It has been said that people choose the leaders that are least capable of the task. The world would do well by being led by us as we would only want the kudos for making everything work not actual personal gain.

    • @lordjavathe3rd
      @lordjavathe3rd 6 лет назад +3

      @meg
      Are you male? I typically see girls mistype themselves. I gave the mbti test to a guy friend of mine and three brothers, each one scored correctly: ENTJ, INTP, ENFP, ENFJ. I gave it to my sisters and two out of three mistyped themselves. I forgot what they got, but their real types are: ESFJ, ESTJ, INFP. My mom mistyped herself as an ESFP when she is ISFJ. That and people on the mbti forums trying to type other people, like celebrities and voice actors, well they get it wrong way too much. They don't type based on the functions, but based on stereotypes and community consensus. They are nearly wrong every time. So I honestly believe that we have no idea what types are common or uncommon.

      Same here. At work I have all traits of an INTJ. I work in science, which means everybody expects me to get to the point and deliver hard facts in a blunt and efficient way without holding anything back. This way of communicating did not come naturally. I had to learn how to behave in a scientific community. Personal thoughts and feelings I find hard to express unless I really trust someone and I pick up other peoples emotions all the time which can be really exhausting. So I guess I am an INFJ who had to exercise extroverted thinking quite a lot. That's also what those tests give me: something like 51%/49% on F/T

      Use this as a guide/ do you care about thoughts or feelings?
      Intjs actually value the thoughts of others. They don't care if theh make you mad or upset. But you WONT say they are incompetent, or wrong, etc
      Infjs dont give a shit about what you think. We pretend to in order to help resolve your emotional issues. But truth be told, the infj just want the situation around them to be smooth. We dont care anywhere near as much as we pretend to, and can be even more cynical than an intj
      Two of my best friends are intjs, and here's one quirk i noticed. They are more prone to helping complete strangers, and can directly tell even close family no with ease
      Me, i can pass a stranger in need easily. Because i understand just how many folks are in "need". You cant save everyone. But when asked directly, its a lot harder to say no

    Ever thought that the reason why so many of you struggle with your defining identity (INTJ~INFJ),
    ...........is because Myers Briggs places everyone in a specific category, and we don't actually live in a box.

    • @Nathan-tg4gu
      @Nathan-tg4gu 4 года назад +21

      True. The Myers-briggs does put you into a box, but that only seems to be an issue if you use the results of such tests to make assumptions about yourself and others. While the test cannot completely describe you, it can approximate your personality well enough to give you insights into who you are, and to give you a rough picture of what someone else is like from their personality profile.
      The main issue with the 16 personalities test is that it's binary. Rather than defining someone either as introverted or extroverted, it would be better to to say the extent to which someone possesses either of those characteristics, and to provide a unique profile to each person. The are a number of dimensions along which people vary, but accurately capturing a few of them can be quite telling.

    I am intj but scored closely to infj, I know the difference because I was purely intj years ago and noticed the change personally. The difference is I have become more intune with the emotions and perspectivea of others. However for me it's weird because as a intj I am amazed by how reality can be altered by different emotional states and how the mind of the individual can alter reality in general. Intj seeks the ultimate truth... the pure simple truth behind anything. The infj on the other hand knows that there is no simple truth... and that truth of any matter is in the mind of tge individual. Someone in my position would simply choose the truth that works for most.

      This is an interesting point Team Trouble SVJ. The functions of INTJ and INFJ are quite similar. I think that with medications for anxiety and depressive illnesses, there is often a promotion of the release of neurotransmitters within the brain that encourage us to relate better to others (which comes from the use of the extroverted feeling function.)
      If the dosage of these medications is administered correctly, then a person should really only return to functioning in a way that they did before. I wonder if you are naturally an INFJ then? It would be interesting to hear the opinion of someone with knowledge of both these medications and the cognitive functions on this too. Everyone actually has all eight of these functions, only some are more inclined to use some far more than others.

Mostly agree on the big things, & even heavily overlap in music/movie likes. We also have that harmony v. logic clash!! but he mostly laughs (well ends up laughing) when i call him out on the muddy logic he sometimes uses to smooth things over. & in the end i def appreciate it!! i think the best aspect is the freedom we give each other. esp independence in thinking & to pursue interests/projects. I've taken Myer Briggs assessments before. I bounced between INTJ and INFJ. However I've concluded I'm INFJ, because I'm more feeling oriented and have concern for humanity. Then there is strong intuition and psychic like sensing which works, but can't be explained with rationality. Ironically, I was a programmer 15 years, in the technology field, something more along INTJ. But, I had a hard time thinking along the same lines with my colleague thinkers because I looked at my work as pieces of art as opposed to business applications. Nonetheless I enjoyed acquiring good skill set over the years. Now my creativity is in art literally, drawing, 3D, 3D rendering, Photography, creative writing, character development, world building as such.
    Getting into depth of things is very important. Learning the truth is a must. Acquiring and discovering authenticity is a way of life. Finding meaning and then realizing that there isn't much meaning at all creates a unique paradox. Spirituality over dogma! Finding God and not a church! Freedom is life. Exploring possibilities and thinking beyond the status quo. Seeing things at a grand scale and being able to summarize as a system or an organism. Listening to people and knowing what's wrong, but sigh when don't like what they hear. And so it goes, just another day on earth, waiting to go home where real life will begin and this one will be long forgotten.

    Both me and my sister's husband [he is an INTJ] are IT students. The main difference I've noticed between how my brother-in-law and I are approaching programming is the focus. When he starts to write the code he focuses on its efficacy and structure while my first thoughts are on how my program is going to make people's lives easier. When I was studying psychology we used IBM''s program called SPSS and we had to pay for it. The program itself is great, but it is too complicated for the beginners and while doing research we actually didn't used it much. So to finish my PHP/SQL workshop I decided to write piece of free software so the students can use it.

    But like INFJ the overall goal is creating harmony and happiness to people. If a person is unhappy I like to both help here and now. Yet also fix the flaw in society that made him unhappy in the first place.

      well, and intj would create his ethics from the self, following universal guidelines like utilitarianism and will have a strong desire to uphold those values and to be authentic, even if it creates emotional tensions.
      The intj will usually be uncomfortable with sharing his deeper feelings, and will have little regard for creating harmony in social interactions (Fe blindspot).
      an infj would create his ethics from outwards, looking at the people and their struggles first and may forsake personal moral code for ethical balance in a situation.
      intjs feel sympathy with the suffering by relating their situation to an own personal story, while infjs usually are very emphatic and will try to inspire positive emotions to lessen the suffering such as hope or joy.

I would say that our character is in most ways similar; the main difference is that my brother is much more blunt in his speech and demeanour than I am, and also more driven by logic and facts and the scientific side of things. I have a deeper emotional nature than he has, and I guess that I am what you might call an ´empath´: that is, I feel other people´s feelings on a very deep and intense level - like they were my own in fact. I can definitely relate to what other people have shared in the comments below, about the clash between on the other hand the need for harmony and for everyone to get along (a basic component of the INFJ personality) vs. the need for logical and factual consistency on the other (a prominent feature of the INTJ personality). To wrap it up: my brother and I are mostly the same, but with some very intriguing differences :)

I used to believe all people are good inside (and used to test as an INFJ) then over the years I realised most people are not good at all although they might believe they are, due mainly to ignorance of facts reality etc they do a lot of evil. So eventually I suppose I grew cynical about people due to finding out people are not usually good or intend to do good no matter the cause (ignorance or wilfulness) And after that I always tested as an INTJ.

      Thanks for sharing your life experience, Rita! Myers-Briggs theory says that we are born with a personality type and that we don't switch. But I totally believe that challenging interactions with others may have changed the way you see the world. Thanks for your comment!

    • @markrist4238
      @markrist4238 6 лет назад +2

      Rita, I so agree with you. I also understand people to be basically evil and that is my approach to whomever I meet. I don't feel cynical, though. That which is evil in people is that which I find interesting in that person. I accept the Revelation that everyone is conceived and born with Original Sin. However, I believe that doesn't make us entirely evil. We still possess intellects which enable us to see, will, and do the good. But, the good we do is always motivated by selfishness. So, thank you for your contrarian view to the false positivity that permeates our culture. All of these gurus of power of positive thinking, Gospel of Wealth, and Spiritual Gnostics with their sense of being god/goddess is all bullshit!

    • @ritabarnard5661
      @ritabarnard5661 6 лет назад +2

      Yep I would say this positivity thinking is most likely what is known as magical thinking. The belief that your thoughts can influence the physical world somehow. Just by running around starry eyed sprinkling fairy dust the world will be transformed into a utopia. While of course all around us we see the literal decay of the world a vast regression and no progress as the progressive so feverishly wants to believe. The advent of a new dark age. I like my reality without garnish, it might be cold hard and bitter but it is REAL not some BS fantasy world where those who believe in these grown up fairy tales will soon meet up with reality sorry to say. And they are so woefully unprepared for it of course. Ignorance (of the truth and reality) literally kills and millions will die in this coming dark age, while their comrades are still wiping fairy bulldust out of their eyes. Well that's if the world itself is not wiped out in nuclear war, same thing anyway. Either way the world is being set up for a correction that should be obvious unless you are blinded by fairy dust ;)

      Oh I wanted to comment on what you said here: "we still possess intellects which enable us to see, will and do good." I am unsure what I am , I never heard of such classifications and instinctively shy away from such pigeonholing of Human beings. That said , when I heard the first description of INFJ type traits I had difficulty not weeping , it felt like I was being understood for the first time. For me , being understood is seldom a reality , and when it happens , it is almost overwhelming in that it distracts me so completely that I soon feel compelled to run away from that distraction because it feels too good and I become in my mind less productive in what has for my adult life been the single most important purpose I , or in my view , any human has , that should take priority over all other purposes in life. To know myself. I see self as the lens through which I perceive all that is without , and refining my understanding of who , what , and why I am , as the most effective and primary tool for clarifying the lens through which I perceive the universe around me. To clarify my lens , is to see truths emerge into view once hidden. To smooth aberration that distorts ones view , caused by wrong thinking , is like spirit sustenance , or food. No less do I crave it , than the air I breath.

    This has to be the best videos I've seen, that analyzes and describes the effective and sometimes subtle differences between the INTJ and INFJ. I've always considered myself an INXJ, since I use both sets of functions in a fairly balanced manner, however, there were key differences you described here that give a little more clarity to the overall picture, especially with how the two personality types use the two inner functions in real time. Thank you for that!

    I've taken the test on several occasions and got INTJ every time except once when I got INTP as my result. I am no sociopath or shark, but I do not care for people very much as they are very often cruel, self-absorbed, and deceitful just for the hell of it. I have had individuals who lied to me stole from me and even physically assault me to have the gall to later request help from me; no apologies or anything of the sort were offered. I neither forgive nor forget, and since I have no desire in being martyred, I joyfully turn down such ballsy requests. I am an animal lover, though, and have fed many strays and wild animals over the last four decades.

    This video has granted me great lucidity. Thank you for organizing the information and hitting the key points so well. I was originally typed as an intj, but the counselor told me I was very close on the border of being an infj. However, with a few years since then, when I think back on my life I realize that in almost every circumstance, I prefer to encourage harmony between people (neglecting my own feelings) versus controlling a situation to make it harmonious or advantageous towards myself. My mode is generally more passive and reactive than active and ego driven as far as social dynamics are concerned.

    I am an INFJ in almost every way. I understand and analysis the language and feelings of others to meet their emotional needs. I can tell exactly what my friends are feeling from a single text message. I care deeply for them. However what makes me more like a INTJ is that I do not hold back my feelings and options from others. I’m blunt with my words and I calculate every word so that when I speak, others understand what I’m trying to say perfectly.

    *Is it possible to be an INFJ with INTJ values?*
    I've grown to become more and more straightforward and open about myself with age. This becomes apparent in my prioritization of facts/justice over emotions/harmony. e.g. providing constructive criticism to correct others' misconceptions and mistakes. Their feelings (such as inability to gracefully accept feedback otherwise defeat in a debate) are not technically my responsibility to protect at all cost. I find it extremely wrong, not to mention stupid, to defend ignorance and unreasonably oversensitive people just to preserve the illusion of peace. On the other hand I take pleasure in making others happy and I do possess a deep interest in psychology.
    Been browsing a lot and I'm still uncertain. I also considered the possibility that MBTI is still lacking as a theory. Insights are welcome.

    • @atlas6724
      @atlas6724 5 лет назад

      Ray K I think that’s definitely possible. As people develop and mature we embrace different aspects of our personality and come to value different things based on our life experiences. INFJs are more predisposed to disregard what is true or fair to protect group harmony however that is (in my opinion) a character flaw many of us have learned to overcome, just as I’m sure many INTJs have learned to overcome difficulties understanding other’s emotions.
      You don’t have to be an INTJ to value facts/justice over emotions/harmony and I don’t think it’s uncommon for more mature INFJs to do so either, the only difference is that going against a group comes with more difficulty to an INFJ than it might to an INTJ.

      My test comes up with 51% - 49% , so I refuse to say I'm just one of them. I was searching the entire web to find an answer to this exact question, and apparently, yes, we exist. Let's call us INFTJs. We basically like to use a healthy and mature combination of logic and emotion, mostly to people who deserve it. We are proud but also humble. We are harsh critics, snobs, but also extremely helpful to our loved ones, to the point we give our lives for them. But they have to earn our trust and love first. You are unique, one of a kind. You have go to stop making uninformed assumptions. You are wrong on both counts so far.

    • @ReinertZerker
      @ReinertZerker 6 лет назад +1

      Michael R. Foreman Not quite. Flip flopping from one cognitive processing to the other is not possible, without possessing some form of hypocrisy.
      "Personality Types" are a form of interpreting, processing, and executing information gathered via externally or internally.
      To say you have high percentages in contradicting processes and without conflicting insights? Ha. Very cute.
      The reason why it is in percentages is to indicate where you lean most, in cognitive processing. You simply lack the understanding of each type and their process definitions.
      An Extrovert and Introvert will conceive information completely through different forms of processing. You are either more prone to A or B. Inbetween would be of low percentage, thus a flip flop would occur, and the individual would tend to be very confused as a person and hypocritical.

I just think that some INFJ people might think they are INTJ, but the questions on dealing with people is key. The people inside your shields are the ones you would die for. You know it. The people outside, the untrustworthy or just unknown possible threat to the status quo must be held back. An INFJ can be mean as hell, vindictive and back it up with whatever is needed to protect the ones you connected with. An INTJ would not go out on a limb naturally without something to gain personally. That is not all bad, we still have the right to be what we are. At least for now. Peace To All.

    the thing they have in comon is that they are both part of a personality test that is bullshit. ^_^ but i guess that is just the judging part of me talking.

      Happydemon I consider the test to not be a personality test but a 'style of awareness and communication' test.

      I consider your peronsal oppinion to be irrelevant to what kind of test it is. nothing personal. If the test says personality test then i have no reason to doubt that is what they are trying to make. Either way, its bullshit.

      Would you care to elaborate on your reason for believing that the MB test is BS.

      The test is loosly based on a theory Jung had about that people could be divided into 8 different personalities, based on his personal experience, not scientific research of any kind. An author(of fiction)and her mom read Jungs work and wrote a book with the test based on her experience and imagination and doubled the number of personalities. Then they published the bs they pulled out of their arses, and idiots bought it and believed it. ^_^

      Supersede??? They never accepted it as a valid scientific publication in the first place. ^_^ It is how two individuals percieved the world around them. And they were severely lacking in imagination... billions of people and they have no more than 16 personalities. that is dumber than fortunetellers using the zodiac. :'D
