Notes about the timeline - it's a long one. I've left out specific details from the final 2 episodes but have used information provided in them to help me place events. Pre Series (Early 2014) Based on the conversation with Gyu Ho in episode 5, Go Yeong went to complete his military service in early 2014 but was discharged within 7 weeks because his ex gave him HIV. In the club he tells Ho Min it's his turn next and Ji Tae wants to know his secret to get out. Episode 1 (Early 2014 - Late 2015) There are a lot of bare trees in the opening scenes and the academic year in Korea starts in February. Go Yeong has been seeing someone for a week but finds out his partner has not broken up with the previous boyfriend who's been away at the military. Go Yeong goes to the photo shoot and meets Nam Gyu. Some time passes before Go Yeong and Nam Gyu meet again for coffee and agree to date. Nam Gyu appears to be using an iphone 5s released September 2013 when he leaves the love lock on the fence and gifts Go Yeong with the promise rings. Ho Min and Ji Tae are preparing to go to the military and Go Yeong breaks up with Nam Gyu. At some point he starts dating the instagram guy who later breaks up with Go Yeong. It's really unclear how much time has passed throughout this episode but it must be late 2015 based on episode 2. By the end Mi Ae is 5 weeks pregnant and both the DJ and the tattoo artist are the potential fathers. Episode 2 (Late 2015 - December 2016) 2 weeks later in episode 2 Mi Ae has recovered from the abortion and Nam Gyu appears with food for Go Yeong. Ho Min and Ji Tae have returned from the military suggesting it's been at least 18 months since Go Yeong and Nam Gyu broke up. It's likely late 2015 here. We can see on the laptop in episode 2 that Mi Ae is applying for a job at Water Purification Group in November 2015. Final exams are usually around mid December. Mi Ae starts her new job and starts seeing Jun Ho. There are Christmas trees in the restaurant when Go Yeong and Jun Ho are introduced. Mi Ae and Go Yeong fight and he moves out in February 2016. 10 months later they have the phone call to announce their respective good news, immediately followed by the message that Nam Gyu has died. It's clearly displayed on the text message that Nam Gyu died on 16th December 2016. Episode 3 & 4 (Late 2017 - December 2018) It's unclear what the date is at the start of episode 3 however we can see fallen leaves on the ground indicating we've passed summer of 2017. Go Yeong started dating Yeong Su on Halloween. When they go shopping for the couple shirts he says it's to celebrate their 22 days making it 21st November. That night he rushes to the hospital and his mother is later moved to a different room. It's unclear how much time has passed between these 2 events but it's daytime so possibly the next day. She gives him her card to go out with his friends, presumably that night. He drunk calls Yeong Su and ends up at his place and discovers the paper the following day, which at earliest could be 23rd November. He goes to the hospital that night in the same outfit from the night before where they agree to go for a walk after church on Sunday which is 26th November in 2017. It's possible this is a week later on 3rd December depending on how much time passed before the room change at the hospital and if Go Yeong waited a few day to go out with his friends. He arranges for Yeong Su to meet them at the park but he never shows up. That night Yeong Su contacts him and wants to meet up the next day to eat pasta at a fancy restaurant. Making the earliest breakup possible 27th November but it could possibly be 4th December. He takes the pills that night. After the hospital scene we see the package Yeong Su sent him and in his letter he says it's been so long he feels awkward, like it's been a 10 years instead of 1 making it late November / Early December 2018. Episode 5 & 6 (January 2020 - Early 2022) The date on the social media post Gyu Ho shows him at the theatre is 5th January and Go Yeong indicates this is the day after they first met at the club and the day of the funeral. Gyu Ho's student card was registered in 2019 and the driving licence shows 26th March 1994 as the date of birth not 1995 (the subs are wrong), making him 25 almost 26. Go Yeong's phone gives a date of Saturday 25th January when they talk about Kylie and start dating, placing this in 2020. Go Yeong was using the Korean age system when he noted that Gyu Ho was 27 on the laptop. Some time passes, Gyu Ho is introduced to Go Yeong's friends and both of them start new jobs. The news website gives us a time stamp of 4th March 2020 and Gyu Ho moves in not long after. Go Yeong later confirms to his friends that they have been dating a year and haven't had sex in 3 or 4 months. We also get confirmation that some of them have been friends for a decade placing the start of their friendship in 2010. Go Yeong and Gyu Ho go on a trip to Thailand in the late rainy season (September to October 2021). Following this Gyu Ho is promoted to Head Nurse. Gyu Ho says that next year they are opening a branch in China. He moves to China in 2022.
bahaha ur so predictive with the plot development, like when I was watching it I genuinely didn't expect anything dark was gonna happen to these new love birds🥲
A lot of people told him these episodes would have a 'sad ending'. Also he knew Go Young would have different relarionships. And everything else he predicted is just common sense?
i think even though most of their issues weren't their fault, their relationship could've been salvaged before gyuho left to china if only they had communicated and honestly, if young had taken gyuho's needs into account more rather than staying the whole time in his own head. i think that's one of the lessons he learned from this relationship, that even if he finds someone that's 100% worthy of all his love and devotion like he always wished but failed to find, he won't be able to keep them around until he works out some stuff within himself. people like young who never had anyone to truly rely on tend to grow up learning how to fix their own issues alone because communicating their thoughts, desires, emotions and needs was always met with dismissal or reprimanded. that's why he clung to his relationship with his mum (and youngsoo, the cunt) despite everything they did to hurt him, it's what he's used to, things had never been different, really. except with namgyu, who reallllly cared for him to an extreme and even to a fault, it freaked him out. it's the classic trope of the avoidant (young) who meets the anxious (namgyu), the more one pushes the other away because a lack of connection is their only idea of normality and safety, the more the anxious pulls them in, seeking abnormal amounts of connection to overcompensate their extreme fear of rejection and being unloved. they just don't match. but young did end up learning that none of what namgyu did deserved the harsh reaction he gave him, that he did everything out of love and so he ended up wishing for him to meet someone that will be able to receive that love, because he knew that he himself was incapable of it. then gyuho appeared, and everything took a turn. he was secure, patient and incredibly understanding. he didn't lash out at young for being himself the way youngsoo did, but he also didn't put him on a pedestal and make him his entire world like namgyu did. he just tried to build a life with him, and honestly, he would've been more than willing to talk about anything young needed to talk about without judgement. he tried to meet him in the middle, tried to make changes, tried to check in with him and give him all the space he needed. he was a non-problem and that's why at one point, for young, he ended up kind of being just there. young was stripped of a normal childhood and, as consequence, of any possibility of a normal relationship. he didn't know he was supposed to communicate his thoughts to make things work because that had never been the case for him. that on top of their clashing life circumstances led to the relationship falling apart. but i think it's important to understand that the moral of this 3rd story is that, yes, his previous partners failed him, but he failed his partner this time around and that's okay. the point is that things would never work out with him and the healthiest most loving person in the world either if he doesn't also work on his own trauma and his own issues. slowly in the next 2 episodes you'll see how that's the case. he'll continue to dwell on what happened and he'll begin to be more honest with himself and what really happened that made things with gyuho go the way they did. i love this show so much, thank you for the reactions 💗
just finished watching the go young and gyuho episode and the way you analyzed go young's way of processing things w his relationship has me sobbing, it really made me understand go young's mind more deeply PLS I HOPE THINGS GO WELL FOR HIM 💔💔💔
Oh god those two episode are the most beautiful and heartbroken of all the series, wait until the last 2 episodes 😢😢😢 your heart will be shattered in pieces
12:55 You don't have to remember his name lol, they named him Yeongsu in the show, but in the book, he doesn't have a name. Goyoung calls him Hyung all the time (because of their 12-year age gap).
i honestly LOVED your reaction to this because it reflected mine so much. i wasn't emotionally destroyed or anything either -- honestly these episodes were very stable except the ending, ofc. and i'm so glad you articulated how their breakup wasn't like go young's fault or blame like i see soooo many people do because honestly their lack of communication was very much mutual and it was ultimately the circumstances that did them in. also i won't tell where or how but there was a point in this reaction where you said something that was SO much like go young and you might catch onto it in the next episodes. saying this because in one of the other reactions you mentioned you related to go young's logical approach during a conversation. it was just funny how unknowingly you were echoing his thoughts.
The letter in Korean is ㄱ (giyeok) for gyuho’s name. It’s can be pronounced as g/k or anything in between. So both kyuho and gyuho are right romanisation for his name.
34:34 In Brazil, you have to have a medical check-up for every job you apply for, so the company knows you are healthy and if you happen to get sick the company can know if it was caused by the illness by work or if it was already pre-existing. Which helps a lot when you need a break to get treatment or if your job fires you for no reason, or you can't work because of illness.
55:56 koreans have their own alphabetic system called 한글 (hangeul). before King Sejong created hangeul they had a writing system based on chinese characters which is called hanja. although chinese characters were being used, each hanja character had korean pronunciation. hanja is still taught in schools even though it’s not widely used nowadays (it mostly appears in legal documents, academic literature, titles, etc.) so, in general, korean is not really similar to chinese, but i guess if you know hanja characters it can help with understanding the meaning of written chinese a little 😊
18:38 No, he's not changing it, I didn't see how they romanized the name in the subtitles before but he writes 규호 which is Gyu Ho but also Kyu Ho, it depends on who romanizes it but it's the same spelling in Korean. It's the same as Nam Gyu can be romanized Nam Kyu too. Also depending on who romanizes names you'll see them written out like Gyu-ho or Gyuho etc. too.
Every job I knew at least in Asia requires medical exams & some sort of police clearance during job onboarding. It doesn’t stop upon being hired as there’s also an annual medical exam & random drug tests.
Koreans use their own writing system called Hangeul. Korean is similar to Japanese in word order (Subject-Object-Verb), but different from Chinese (Subject-Verb-Object), so it's not necessarily easy for Koreans to learn Chinese.
10:04 actually I when someone close to me died after a long time of sickness I went to say my "goodbyes" in the morning then straight to work and after the funeral I went to a pub (in my funeral outfit) where I knew there would be people I kinda know instead of home but just a calm night at the pub, a beer and home alone after, it's just my way of processing but also before that near the end I went out once and really got so drunk (not something I do since I was young) and went and f'd a random just because I really needed it, I had for months just worked (way too much) and seen this precious person just wither away painfully so I just needed to do stupid stuff and be irresponsible, get out of my head and reality, I can't explain why I just needed it. And that is so much like what he did in this series. Like there is so many things that are similar to what I've done, felt etc in this series. I mean I lived differently and are also quite different as a person but I totally get and have made many similar decisions as him or other characters.
22:38 the odds yes BUT also NO NO NO please everyone do not think that way. It can be and often are, with a trusted long time partner and then you aren't safe and that's when you get something or a new one even if you don't usually sleep around. Always stay safe kids. The one you are with can have been safe but accidently gotten something and not yet know it too. So without you testing yourself together after a long enough time being with someone else so it'll show on tests if you gotten something, then sharing the results and being together 24/7 you'll never really safe unprotected.
As a Korean says, the South Korean military maintains its service by checking its physical condition and determining whether it is appropriate or not. HIV infection is a typical inappropriate factor. Also, some Korean words are based on Kanji!
a lukewarm and unfinished breakup like this hurts 1000x more than an aggressive and messed up one 🧎🏽♀🧎🏽♀ it sucks that they both loved each other so much but the external factors (HIV, work, lack of communication) became too much for them
i cry everytime i see that breakup scene, it actually breaks me cause i cant fathom just leaving someone like that
for me that also felt so close to my own life experiences. Like it's like being transported back in time to my 20's and one of my relationships.

@@priiifrg relax bro, you must be fun at the parties, aren't you? He did predict a a lot of plots and turned out to be correct!

51:28 That night, Gyuho had nowhere to go, so he was just looking for a place to stay for the night.😢
Their relationship was my fav. out of all. I need s2 with them being an end game 🥲Gyuho was perfect for Goyoung but he took Gyuho love for granted.
Koreans use their own writing system called Hangeul. Korean is similar to Japanese in word order (Subject-Object-Verb), but different from Chinese (Subject-Verb-Object), so it's not necessarily easy for Koreans to learn Chinese.
24:32 absolutely, the relationship is relationshipping
1:03:18 it was especially sad and all of it felt so real, their whole relationship
10:04 actually I when someone close to me died after a long time of sickness I went to say my "goodbyes" in the morning then straight to work and after the funeral I went to a pub (in my funeral outfit) where I knew there would be people I kinda know instead of home but just a calm night at the pub, a beer and home alone after, it's just my way of processing but also before that near the end I went out once and really got so drunk (not something I do since I was young) and went and f'd a random just because I really needed it, I had for months just worked (way too much) and seen this precious person just wither away painfully so I just needed to do stupid stuff and be irresponsible, get out of my head and reality, I can't explain why I just needed it.

why is this series so real
You are really intelliget and good at understanding people and different characters with different mindsets . love your reactions❤
You should watch let free the curse of taekwondo!! Its to good ❤❤❤
18:11 it's kinda reassuring to come across someone whose maths is on a similar level, I try to calculate in a similar way lol
I have a wild theory that the real writer lived all of this experiences in his life and wrote love in the big city
Because it is! The novel is actually based on the life of the writer and was categorised as "semi-autobiographical."
영수는 실화 바탕이라네요 ㅋㅋ
I'm already looking forward to the next episodes
I love them so much😭😭😭
loved your thoughts and analysis as always
22:38 the odds yes BUT also NO NO NO please everyone do not think that way. It can be and often are, with a trusted long time partner and then you aren't safe and that's when you get something or a new one even if you don't usually sleep around. Always stay safe kids.

So without you testing yourself together after a long enough time being with someone else so it'll show on tests if you gotten something, then sharing the results and being together 24/7 you'll never really safe unprotected.
Please please please react to LET FREE THE CURSE OF TAEKWONDO too
Yessss I was waiting for your reaction 😭

Next young royals..after this ..
1:01:00 sooo much sadness and suffering
As a Korean says, the South Korean military maintains its service by checking its physical condition and determining whether it is appropriate or not. HIV infection is a typical inappropriate factor.
Also, some Korean words are based on Kanji!
Im early 🙉🙉 (it’s also currently 3am 😶)
Episode 6 is soooo sad 😭
For your question: I think you should make a separate channel for the anime reactions. 😊
Waiting for your vedio 😅
