Ham Radio linear amp TR relay cleaner - aka the "Klacker Kleaner 1.0"

  • This is a proof of concept test of a device I call the "Klacker Keaner 1.0" which will attempt to clean/polish the contacts of the TR relay inside an Ameritron linear amp.
    This should work on any kind of TR relay, be it an "open frame" (Potter Brumfield type), or a sealed PCB mount relay.
    To make a portable version, one would need to devise a little circuit with maybe a 555 timer, and possibly a little driver relay like I have shown here in the video.
    The open frame relay in this old AL-811H draws 92 milliamps, so it's possible that the 555 timer chip can sink 92 milliamps (with 2 volts open terminal voltage provided by the amp itself).
