We have always looked to the theologians and bishops and cardinals, learned men, who have a thorough knowledge of the Catholic faith. They could be completely relied on for knowing the faith in depth. Suddenly it’s now open to lay people to make a new pathway for us. Why do I suddenly feel very afraid for everything I have been taught or believed in. Why are they trying to Please everyone. The church was like a cornerstone of hope and strength for the whole Christian world . Why are they chipping away at a strong institution? Why are they sowing such confusion among the faithful? We really have to know our faith deeply to withstand any future undermining of our beloved institution
The ones sowing division are the ones wanting a mediaeval, Authoritarian church. The laity are adults no longer children, the laity are educated, educated in scripture, liturgy, theology and pastoral care. The catechesis I received as a child and young adult was sadly lacking and unless clerics and the laity grow up together, move forward the church of the 21st Century will certainly die and we will all have to answer for that. The most important thing 21st Century, Catholics have to learn is the answer to the question "Who is my neighbour" and then learn to love them. There's not much charity on these posts.

I'm in the US and today is a special day for Catholics here, because today is the feast day of the holy North American martyrs. There were eight of them and they came all the way over here from France to bring Christ to the natives. They knew they were going to suffer horrifically, some of them already had, but they came back and did it again anyway because they knew there was no other option for those tribes but to save their souls. They sacrificed themselves for others. I feel insulted on their behalf that this news is coming to us today. This isn't what they died for.

Our Lady of Martyrs Shrine in Auriesville, New York. The Shrine is located on the historic site of the martyrdom of St. Isaac Jogues, St. Rene Goupil, and St. John LaLande, and the birthplace of St. Kateri Tekakwitha. They have relics at these two 2 shrines as my wife and I visited this past August what a blessing. St Kateri pray for us as she became a saint 2012.

I lived, about thirty years ago, in the Royal City of the Holy Faith of Saint Francis of Assissi, and often attended Mass at the Cathedral, now a Minor Papal Basilica. I thought I might see what is going on there thesedays, so I looked at their live stream of the Main Sunday Mass. I know that the Churncch has become less and less interested in anything suggesting Holiness or Beauty or such, but . . . . Wow! Mostly it as a sort of grade school meeting lead by fat women with tight sleeveless blouses and tight pants. The Priests, even the Bishop, seemed to be a sort of unnecessary after thought. There were of course noa ltar boys, but 'altar girls', cressed in dalmatics, no less. Once the Cathedral had a choir. Now it has abunch of folks dressed in motley clothing, holding ipads, 'singing' something that would not be considered music anywhre else. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. (BTW, the Alleluia before the Gospel was Jesus' statement that He is the way, the truth, abd the light, that no one comes to the Father except through Him. It was a little difficult for me to understand, because there are so few vocations to the priesthood out here at the edge of nowhere that the pastoral-vicar, I think he's called, who is shared with two other parishes, is from South India and has a bit of unfamiliarity with English still. Good homily anyway.)
We don't need a new church, just as we didn't need the new Mass. Remain faithful to the Church founded by Jesus. This is the only way to save our souls.

Perhaps this idea comes out of a realisation that the church is dying in many countries, especially Western countries, Europe and the USA and there is a need to pass on the faith. But I think they are barking up the wrong tree, novelty never gets the Church anywhere!

The best examples of living Christian communities existing anywhere in the world to day are to be found in the still orthodox Hutterite, Mennonite and Amish Churches and colony's scattered around the U.S. and Canada living the true Kingdom of God on this earth.
