- One of the largest garage crews, Pay as You Go Cartel is notable as being the starting place for MCs Wiley, God’s Gift, Maxwell D, Breeze and Flow Dan, producer Target, and also UK underground music figureheads DJ Slimzee and Geeneus. Along with Heartless Crew and the So Solid Crew, Pay as You Go are recognised as pioneering influences on the grime sound.
Know We was their first track produced by Wiley and regarded as the Cartels most outstanding release.

@@TheRealMike1976 the sound of Grime has changed a lot in 20yrs. This was around the time of its birth and so since then, the music has evolved and sped up.
@@prizeking1647 😂 this has more to do with the birth of Grime than it does with Garage. This is not garage in sound at all. Different hi hats, best patterns and bass etc. no garage track had mc’s spitting in this way and on such a hard beat. Garage was a more happier and uplifting sound. I know what I’m talking about, I’ve been there since speed garage to now and witnessed the transition from garage to grime first hand.
