As a past member i can say that a large portion of what is said here is based extremely loosely on fact (or not at all) or very twisted to make a story that will make people sit up and listen, most people who know someone from the church or as you call it wrongly, a sect dont believe these media blow-ups of the brethren, i personally knew some of these peoplen and i find it sad to see them so bitter mostly from envy and spite, i was never taught to hate anyone, grow up i say!
I miss my family, for 2 years after I left I cried every night, the price of freedom was heavy, its is like as if my entire family is dead, living but dead to me. Once you leave this cult the only way you can be with your family is to return and completely surrender yourself to it again, I made a vow never to do that, I need to know who I am, I need my freedom to choose my own actions, it turns out Im not really anything like what I was like in the cult, I actually like, even love myself now!
There is one of their so called "churches" near where I live...the place is like Fort Knox....they lock themselves in with chains and padlocks on the gates.....strange lot
I grew up in a brethren church not an exlcusive one I have to say but not all brethren are like the exclusives so please do not tar us all with the same brush. Not all brethren are exlusives.
Would the people here be so brave as being harsh toward muslim fundamentalists who mutilate women as in female circumsition and so called honor killings. Not condoning the exlusives behavior as am a brethren just not an "exclusive" There are flaws in everything its humanity but christians are easy to pick on so it would seem. Not all brethren are exlusives and we ae not a cult!

Like the Mormon or Amish here in the states.. Don't care what ones believes as long as they do not hurt children or hurt one another..
