Beautiful, I use a similar Spanish technique on tiles, cuerda seca. also made from scratch. Not the only thing I make, I usually work on the wheel and mainly use a local stoneware clay, I am in Cornwall, England
If we go back a little to history, we would know the origin of this work, as it dates back to Andalusia and what the Muslims left behind from the architectural art to which everyone can testify to the perfection and beauty in Cordoba and other cities.
@@thelittlethingskate9567 my tiles right now 99% are art tiles which mean they have a design on them . I haven't started production yet. I have hummingbird, bear, dragonfly, turtle, frog, and a few more. Look up Motowi tiles in Ann arbor Michigan, that will give you an example of art tiles. 4x4x5/8 inch will be 3-13/16 x3-13/16 x 5/8 inch. This size is the only size I will have to begin with. I'll get back to you when I start making them . It might be months. I do have a couple rejects right now but want to keep for reference to start with. !
Cobalt carbonate is very toxic and causes cancer among other things, I was horrified when I saw the young man pushing it through the screen with bare hands and no mask. The man weighing out the chemicals for glazes wasn’t wearing a mask either. Please, please, please advise the employees on safety and provide the necessary protection equipment for them.
They need masks with filters, fitted to them individually so they fit. And they need gloves and proper safety procedures to handle the glazes and powders, many of these things are toxic and they will get cancer. Please look after your employees better.
These guys are all going to get some type of lung disease at some point in life. There is too much dust in the air where they work and not good ventilation, plus their masks are useless, they should be wearing masks with filters. This is very sad.
Oh my gosh, what hard work! I give these people so much credit and now I know why the craft is so expensive. What beautiful work!
I love talavera and now respect the craft even more.
Everything is from scratch and with human power. What a beautiful thing.
So much dust, so few masks. These people are a valuable asset, look after them.
Glad someone mentioned that. I wonder if any of those workers are aware of the danger.
It'd be cool to join their guild. I'd love to help keep such a tradition alive
Bless those workers. I used to have a kitchen with some of those same tiles. So beautiful. ❤️🥰❤️
Someone please give that first hombre a breathing mask.
I know right? He's going to get "black lung" if he keeps breathing that fine dust regularly.
He has one. Around his neck. 🙃
Silicosis its not coal.

I am humbled by the people and the process that brings these tiles to life. Each one unique and perfect. Thank you for sharing!
This is truly amazing. I respect your culture, its truly beautiful.
Trabajo maravilloso!!👌
Wow 😮
Any dry ceramic material in dust form is toxic. But @9:10 that guy is handling cobalt carb. Heavy metal. These workers need masks, gloves etc.
Nice❤
Awesome!
that was interesting!
nice
I wonder What types of colouring you use ?
Good video but some worrying health and safety... exposed machinery (pug mills), working at height, inhilation of dust and chemicals....
Damm that's some hard work ..I hope they get paid well bs
They don’t.
Beautiful beautiful can this company help in setting up this company like partner with the company
Tip ,,, build a ramp to the tip site and use wheelbarrows as well, a water hose. The shoulders feel better
It would be nice to have a little narrative
Dis is how we make the tile.
We mix the clay.
We press the tile.
We bake the tile.
We paint the tile.
We fire the tile.
We ship the tile.
inteeristing but music not needed
what kind of material do you use for black outlines on tiles?
Just a base glaze with a color added to the base glaze.
I use manganese oxide, mixed in linseed oil, as the original XVI ceramic tiles were made.
@@isabelcolher1405 thanks i found it with some experiments :)
@@isabelcolher1405 do you know if that is what they use in this video?
Tan interesante verdad!

What is the mix
I know it's all locally sourced where they are
Essas pessoas estão trabalhando com óxidos cerâmicos sem máscaras ou qualquer tipo de proteção, nossa!
En donde se encuentran?
Mexico
I will take 100 boxes of rejected tiles, please! Mind blown
You serious??
I'm starting a tile company !! It's just me right now.
I'm sure I'll have a lot of rejects.
@@jeffbradley876 lol not 100 boxes, but rejects yes!

Where is this place !?
Puebla, Mexico
Dolores Hidalgo Guanajuato . Mexico
Did the man at 4:02 cut the clay freehand??
I was wondering that as well. If you look closely you can see the guide lines.
11:50 Someone know how this machine with a green paint works?
You talking about the long triangles that are green?
Look up screen printing or silk screening.
please tell the name of ingredients
It's clay and glaze.
All their stuff is locally sourced, colorants and clay and all
The three different colored dirts in the beginning are just three different layers of earth. The red is the clay.
Jeff Bradley you missed the more valuable ingredients: patience, willingness to labor extensively, more patience.

what material is used to create the outline? paint or glaze?
