Once you've passed the line of scrimmage it basically becomes a game of rugby, so if players can practice and coordinate pitches like this or in a sequence it would be unstoppable if done correctly. Thank God for good play from the linebackers and D Line and Branch and Joseph were stout as well and anytime Montgomery and Gibbs rack up 200yds we are going to win most of the time
A quick lateral after a catch is so effective, I cannot understand why teams don't work on this more. Defenders all focus solely on the receiver making the catch. There's no way these WRs can't reduce the chance of a fumble to near zero, with the huge upside of so many additional YAC. To me this could be the next generation of route design, not just multiple potential targets for the QB, but for multiple potential outcomes to hand the ball off to a teammate after the catch is made.

This is why I recommend Lions games to my friends that aren't even Lions fans. Offensively and defensively, when they are clicking they are just *so* much fun to watch.

Amazing how piddly penalties so often wipe out the most dramatic play of the game. Not that the Lions catch and pitch wasn't fun. But wasted on a short yardage play.
