Since Biden took office, there seem to have been more unfavorable results in America. I wonder if the sudden increase in interest rates will help value investors or if it would be wiser to stay away from the stock and financial markets for the time being.

For boomers and senior citizens, the current market and economy are unnecessarily harder. I'm used to simply purchasing and holding assets, which doesn't seem applicable to the current volatile market, and inflation is catching up with my portfolio. My biggest concern is whether I'll survive after retirement.

I have been doing the same thing myself, using the market to shield myself from the market. But I hate making mundane decisions, so I just invest through an advisor, making good profits, avoiding taxes, while doing very little work.

The average person doesn't "do well"......in this almost 77 year old's opinion is because they never learned "the value of a buck." Too many millions of Americans (I'll stick to the US) use credit cards without any comprehension of their ramifications. How many Americans "pay off" their credit card on a monthly basis? How many people SAVE money? How many invest their money in e.g. real estate? ~ Too many "life/economically challenged" adults didn't create a "life plan" in their early life. I did & retired at 52. ~~~ Needless to say Bidenomomics is the worse inflation since Carter's 9.9% forty plus years ago.

You never seen kids taught about the history of the economy, money or currency in public schools or even in colleges. And thats not by accident. The reason I’ve done well was because I did study the economy and knew the value of the buck would continue to go down it’s the nature of fiat. Hen I taught my kids and grand kids. And they all do very well. And this will get much worse before it gets better.

When you're smart you can plan for bad things. For example, you don't have to rely on credit cards during periods of high inflation.
