sage is super frail, but once you get his stuff going, he's by and far the strongest character in the game. it's not a bad idea to pick a slower scaling weapon as your main one (radiant aura, kugelblitz, morning star etc.) and then picking a secondary ability that has an instant power spike (transfixion, phantom needles etc.) item loadouts also matter a lot, you don't need to enter with a lot of stat boosting gear and can instead take stuff like rat ring + broker's cape + gorgon mask. that'll spread slow so much the enemies won't get into smelling distance of you. picking basic movement speed boosting shoes (flaming with the base boost or just the +25% ones) is preferable. blazing shell and broker's cape are incredible items on sage, because their area scales with pickup range. sage's first two dedication perks boost your base pickup range by a massive amount. sage also has pickup range growth each level, meaning your blazing shell/cape will have near fullscreen coverage by level 60 or so. as for marks, if you're just looking for clears, archer's mark is always good. cleric's mark is fun if you're area/range maxing like in this video. other picks feel like they're a bit more niche and depend on what kind of build you want, but i haven't experimented too much. so don't take this as irrefutable. join the chasing carrots (halls of torment) discord if you need more on-demand advice, we've got knowledgeable people there.
@@PaulDanoDE You need to wait until you have at least level 3 in the ability you want to focus on until you pick up another ability scroll. Then to power it up the second time you need to do it at level 6 or higher.

Hi, how do u have only 2 abilities? And how did u improve them (added the second circle of orbs)? I always get a new one when pick up the book@@rorbee
