I just started my coding journey and discovered your channel. I’m so glad I did. This was a helpful reminder to always remember your “why.” I don’t want to get caught up in the learning process without a reason behind it. Thanks for sharing your journey so openly!
i empathize, especially in terms of pivoting beyond the surface of development. in my case, i intend to focus on learning specific cybersecurity skills for the threat intelligence analyst role i'm interested in. i wish you only the best!
As someone who is just stepping out on my coding journey, and seeing Bootcamp ads everywhere claiming to "Future-proof your career", I really appreciate your honesty about your experience of the tech industry. I'm currently debating whether to continue on the self-directed route or apply for a Bootcamp (government funded in the UK), and this information really helps me to move forward with my eyes wide open. Much gratitude, and all the best for the future as you figure out what's next. You've earned another subscriber 👍
Congrats Mike on your decision! Hope things work out for you! I am on my own journey. Despite all the layouts I switched from learning JavaScript and took up Python for the Meta Backend Professional Cert Course. There is some JavaScript involved but primarily it is in Python. They promise to help you to become job ready? But so far, the course is well taught and well designed by the developers from Meta and hopefully this may open some doors for me at the end. If not? I will find another direction. Best of luck to you.
I got layed off in November as well, now found a new job. Just update your portfolio, and you’ll find a new job in no-time bro. Just appy to a smaller company and theres plenty of room for you to work, more responsibility but its better
I quit programing and coding... I will go into Trade school and lear to do something that will actually make money. Coding doesn't provide job security, especially with remote work trend and outsource work to third world countries trend...
I'm curious why you decided not to continue a similar role using your 1.5 years of experience? Did the experience turn out to be not as useful for other companies? You haven't talked about the struggles of job hunting in this current climate, which would be very interesting to hear your thoughts on it for those of us trying to break in the field.
I used a lot of company software at my last role and that knowledge didnt translate into other roles as cleanly as I would've hoped. So I took a break to focus on the basics again for a bit and figure out how I want to go about getting my next job.
Appreciate the video. I’ve been worried about job security too. Caught in between wanting to be a 3d artist or a web developer.
Welcome back

Phew...I was so afraid that you was going to say "I'm going to start doing OnlyFan." No OnlyFan. Wish you the best luck in 2023.
LOL, I hear there's a lot of money to be made in only fans though :)

No matter what path you take I absolutely wish you the best of luck!
But if you want to be more creative. Start learning graphic design fundamentals and 3d modeling. It will help you stand out as a designer & developer.
I don't have an artistic bone in my body lol

Wait so what is the new creative side you’re pursuing?
You'll see soon? Hopefully :)

Golden stuff starts @ 1:10. Thank Michael Later ;)
did you ask them why you got laid off ?
They gave me the lame generic reason, so I just accepted it and moved on. No need to stress about it.
