    I love this wall garden and cano wait to try it! - I can't tell what's on the right side of the succulent wall, but I wonder if you can place a full length mirror on that adjacent wall to reflect the sunlight onto the plants that don't get much sun exposure. Bonus...the illusion of more succulents!

    I love your videos. Good for those of us who are on rescricted incomes. Plants heal the distress so many are feelingduring this trying time. I'm building an addition on my house.part art studio and part living space have been looking for deck ideas. This is great! Can the pockets be deconstructed to hold larger plants? Im planning a vertical veggie garden. Also, the micro irrigation systems are fantastic. They do produce water runn off. How do you collect that water? In you other video you said you use it for other plants. The micro system works great for container gardens as well!

Did the seam that you made yourself.with the sewing machine hold? No fraying on the seams? How many horizontale driphose passes did you use? One at every row with pockets seems a bit much to me.

    • @AIRStudio-AngelRiveros
      @AIRStudio-AngelRiveros  4 года назад +5

      I am so glad you like it !!! :D well actually i am surprised it hold so well for so long... i haven't have any issue with falling apart or anything. i basically just sewed twice for the mittle of the pocket basically to divide each pocket in half. if you a planing to grow herbs you could divide some at the top, because i think will be big enough and leave the full pocket at the bottom for veggies that may be require more soil. I think it might work great ! thanks for watching !! :)

    I've been wanting to start a vertical garden in our tiny balcony for a while now, and not being blessed with green thumbs, I've not been sure where to start. I loved both parts of this video, the original since you really explained everything really well and the technical things. And this followup that went through how your lovely garden had progressed. Its given me a great starting point. Since we live in Norway the weather is a bit more tricky to deal with. Do you have any recommendations for plants that will survive colder outdoor weather?

    • @AIRStudio-AngelRiveros
      @AIRStudio-AngelRiveros  4 года назад +2

      Madi Vithana so amazing to hear you from all the way to Norway 🤩🤩🤩 I am very glad also it give you a little bit of inspiration and may be some ideas of how to start your very own vertical garden. I honestly don’t have much experience with very cold weather plants. Since I’ve live my whole life in tropical or hot weather cities 😅 But I can say, I am sure you could fine some help in your closet Nursury or “plant” store they will be happy to give you ideas of which plants fit best your needs. ( I know there are some gorgeous flowers that can stand freeze temperatures like Cone Flowers or Pansies) those most of the times hide, but come back beautiful for spring. Also if you do one section or the vertical garden, remember you can easily move it to the interior of the house too so in this case you could have more options of plants and just protect them from the cold. I hope it helps ! And again thank you very much for watching and your comment 🤩🤩🤩

    • @madivithana8577
      @madivithana8577 4 года назад

      @@AIRStudio-AngelRiveros thank you for your reply! I decided to go with a shelfsystem, rather than planting directly in pockets so I can move plants as needed. You are indeed lucky to be in warm temperatures. But as you mentioned the local plant nursery have been helpful in helping find some sturdy plants that can survive the winter. I will keep watching for new videos and tips!

    You can prevent the rusting process on the hooks if you whipe them very good with an alcohol based cleaner for windows or whatever. And then, you rub some candle wax on them. Be sure thst the wax is very oily. You will feel it when you touch the candle und make some dots into it with you finger. You will feel it. Tea lights a mostly perfect. Then take a toch or a normal lighter and let the wax melt on the hook and the bolt. This will bring the wax everywhere. With this method you can stop them from deteriorate too fast. I do this on every peace of metal or wood that is exposed to water very often. And redo it every 4 to 5 years.

    What the plant in the left part of video screen?

    Hello from Honduras. Have you had experience with this system on exterior walls with strong sun? Does the polyester survive OK in it? I have an outside brick wall that gets like 8-10 hours of strong direct tropical sun per day. I'd place cactuses and hardy succulents in it because the heavy sun there burns jade plants & most other soft succulents. What kind of soil/substrate mix would you use for this exterior hanging garden? Here we have a dry season of 6 months that is very sunny, hot & dry + a 6-month rainy season that is cloudy, with frequent heavy rains. Which plants would you recommend for this tropical climate? Gracias!

      Hello Francisco ! :) Thank you so much for your comment. To answer you question: i am very positive this would work great for your project. Here in los Angeles we installed one in a exterior wall and it takes sun pretty much all year long, we don't have to much rain, so i would advice to secure it just a little extra for the rainy season, just to be safe. and also make sure to have enought holes at each bag for drainage. I THINK IT WOULD BE PERFECT! JUST ONE THING MAKE SURE THE SHOE HOLDER IS MADE OF 100% POLIYSTER. Cotton or blend of cotton and polyester most likely will brake down for the sun and the water. Good luck !!! and let me know if have more questions :)

    I think you should get some cheap LEDs from AliExpress. I have a cheapo 50w floodlight and it gets really really bright for close up plants, but you should get a 100w or 200w one.

      Full spectrum lighting mimics natural out door lighting. I'm unsure of shape and sizes. Might be a little expensive, tho. This light is used by people who have Seasonal Affective Disorder to treat depression caused by not being able to go outdoors or live in areas that don't get a lot of natural light. It works for people depression. Might work for plant depression!.

    I watched the first video, then came straight here. You are so luck living in LA with your climate. I would have to put that in a greenhouse in the UK, or perhaps plant it with alpines. Do you use any sort of fertiliser as presumably all that dripping water leaches nutrients from the soil? Very interesting though, well done

      Same here in austria. In my area, we have very hot summers (37°C +) and extreme winter (-25°C some time). You need to be so carefull what you going to plant

      aww that's awesome ! thank you so much for watching ! I just fertilize them with "plant food" they sell it at home depot its just a blue powder that i put once a month in the gallon spray bottle and just water them with it .... i am just amazed with succulents ! i had them for almost a year without adding anything and they still grow, However now with the grow light and the plant food they are growing much much healthier :)

    How about a wall with all day sun in California, do you think succulent will survive ?

    • @AIRStudio-AngelRiveros
      @AIRStudio-AngelRiveros  3 года назад +1

      OH YES ! they love full sun! in fact they change colors sooooo beautiful ! when planted at full sun. Just be aware, sometimes they can get some burns so just be generous with good water and they will grow nice and healthy! good luck with your garden! and thank you very much for watching !

    Will this damage vinyl siding? Can this method work successfully with herbs?

    • @AIRStudio-AngelRiveros
      @AIRStudio-AngelRiveros  2 года назад

      Vinyl siding should resist water just fine. And I am positive the herbs will be happy as long soil, water and light are the appropriate for the species 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 I have tropical plants and another one with succulent and cactus and they are very big and healthy

    Love this idea. Could you mention what size pots will fit in the pockets. The space I would like to do something like this does get full sun, but I don’t think succulents will survive this far north in the UK so maybe I would go for alpines instead as they will be more hardy. A project like this would really brighten up an orphaned area of my garden that we will look out over on a regular basis but not use to sit in.do you think that this would work hung off a wooden fence rather than a solid wall?

    • @AIRStudio-AngelRiveros
      @AIRStudio-AngelRiveros  3 года назад +2

      Hi there ! thank you so much for watching and taking your time writing a comment! for sure the size of the pots that will fit the pockets ( if you cut in half the pocket ) are from 4 inches or 10 centimetres i think you could do even up to 6 inches or 15 centimetres aprox you can do seasonable plants, just drop then in the spring and may be replace them every year. I am not really familiar with very cold weather plants, but i am sure you can keep you eyes to see which type of plants grow easier in your area. I check malls and shops because i know they usually use the most cost effective plants :) ans those are my favorites :) thanks again ! and stay tuned !

    Living in LA, do you have issues with UV deterioration with this setup?

    • @AIRStudio-AngelRiveros
      @AIRStudio-AngelRiveros  4 года назад

      Aurora Borealis thanks for your question. Actually I haven’t have any issue. Mine gets only partial direct sun for like 5 hours of the day (succulents usually want more hours of sun) but the material only gets a little “stain” for the water and soil but not “brakes” I have a client that has his in pure direct sun all day. And it looks very identical (only difference is his plants are much bigger and brighter because he has his own gardener and perfect irrigation 😅) this shoe holder is Made of poliéster which basically are fibers made or plastic, like plastic bottles. And as we know this ones can last for hundreds of years (which is bad for the planet is not reused) I guess if you are planing to make it just make sure the shoe holder is made of poliéster and no cotton I am sure cotton will fall apart in a couple months because is biodegradable. I hope it helps ! THANKS FOR WATCHING !! 🤩🤩🤩

    In regards to watering I would love to know if misting/fogging systems would be enough for the succulent in this layout

    • @AIRStudio-AngelRiveros
      @AIRStudio-AngelRiveros  4 года назад +2

      Stephen thank you for your question ! From what I know and have read... succulents can resist some dry times, but like to get the roots very moist as least once a week... I guess all will depend of how long you want to run the misting, i think if the misting system runs for a decent amount of time and get the soil wet.... I think you get yourself a very cool way to water your vertical garden ! 😁 if you already have it you should experiment, I would love to find out your experience. If you are only considering options. I must recommend the typical irrigation or the dripping irrigation they work just great. Thank you so much for watching

      thank you for your work! :) and yes! ! i think as long you provide decent light and water to the type of plant they will grow happy... have in mind some plants are more difficult than other, I usually pick either tropicals like mostera deliciosa or evils evy or suculents. the tropicals do well in the shade and need some water, suculents do great a bright light and little water :) i hope it helps !
