Thank-you so much - at last a quality video with Vadim playing, and his uncle is quite awesome. My uncles used to play tzigane tunes on the 7-string guitar, their grandmother (my great-great-grandmother) was from the same tzigane family as that of Aliosha Dimitrievitch.
the capitals are the trebles. so from top string to lowest bass string it is DBGdgbd' (ie, the top string is tuned to 3rd fret on second string of standard 6 string guitar)
This has been a favourite of mine for awhile. I like the melody the guy on the left is playing from around 3:45 - 3:50... and the crazy speeding up near the end... really great work.
My Russian friend is an awesome professional acoustic guitarist. I've posted one of his tracks under the name "Sasha the Guitar Man" if you're interested.
Thank you for the reply. The joints of the finger itself don't move, though, right? It's the elbow that does the work? Is there an up-and-down movement, or is it purely rotational? And should the arm be tense or relaxed?
Could anyone, please, explain to me how to play the tremolo that Vadim is playing around 0:40? It looks like a simple rotation of the elbow so that the index finger repeatedly strikes the string, but the problem for me is that my hand is moving at a different path going up than going down no matter how I try it. Is there a trick to this?
I LOVE Russian gipsy music! It's so melodical, so dramatic. The whole gipsy sorrow is in it.
I'd also recommend everyone to listen to Sergey Orekhov.
vielen dank meine lieben freunde für eure wunderschöne musik alles liebe aus deutschland
Если семиструнка заплакала-значит мужик слезу пустил!!!!Инструмент который ничем не заменишь,особенно в руках профессионала!!!Браво!!!

Where can I learn these scales and this klezmer sound?
Ooops! I meant my great-grandmother. :)
Reminded me of Django Reinhardt's playing.
ah nevermind i thought capitals were bass strings. forget what i said :)
Hes just strumming a chord with index finger up and down.
i deleted his comment and blocked him
I don't quite think it's beautiful... Just makes me feel like I'm watching tom and jerry.
