Eric Burdon has a really rough fry that he's able to pass into a heartfelt story, one that is gritty. It's an amazing cover, but it really doesn't capture that gritty story factor, it's more about your vocals than the actual lyrics and their meaning.

Hey Jacque... you are correct, musicologists dont exactly know where the entirety of the song came from but the version I did here is a rough cover of the version done by the Animals. That's the beauty of covers... you can make them your own.
