Up 844 puff chuff to Oklahoma & Texas 100th anniversary special of t&p railroad october 18th 19th 2012 thursday & Friday Arrival & depart display on the Marshall depot amtrak passenger parking
I hope 844 makes a run next year. She's one of my top 5 favorite locomotives and she hasn't made a run to date since her double header with Big Boy. I heard she was getting some work done on her but currently don't have good confirmation of that.
From what I've read, 844 just passed boiler inspection but sits idle with no future plans to run. UP keeps it maintained, so it's in running condition when they're ready to take her out. Right now, it's all about 4014 Big Boy. Maybe a run in 2025 will be scheduled, but I doubt it here in California. I'd love to see another double header with 4449 and down towards central Ca, but that's just a dream.
@@SnowSquatch-1 Glad to hear that about 844. Also anything is possible, but due to a law recently passed in California, I can understand your thinking. It prohibites locomotives over 23 years old from operating in the state and, to my knowledge, makes no exceptions for steam locomotives. It's supposed to take effect in a few years, but I heard that some railroads and the Association of American Railroads are challenging it in court.
