  • AMAZING tune composed by Manfred Schoof called "Blues for Nana". Features legends such as Schoof on the trumpet, the iconic Klaus Doldinger on the clarinet, Albert Mangelsdorff playing trombone, the utter legend Ingfried Hoffmann on his signature hammond organ, Peter Trunk on bass, and Cees See on drums.
This is from an NDR Jazzworkshop rehearsal session for the concert "That Bluesy Sound" that would occur the next day on April 22, 1966. I have the concert version in my collection as well. I'll provide a link to both the full rehearsal and concert in the comments.
A song that isn't composed by Hoffmann for once, but my goodness is it catchy. We have awesome solos from Mangelsdorff on trombone, Schoof brilliantly playing the trumpet, Doldinger giving me goosebumps on his clarinet, and Trunk providing an excellent part on bass. Also, during Peter Trunk's solo, I love the sound of Hoffmann's organ. The beginning and end parts (idk what you'd call them in music terms, 1:43-2:24 and 6:55-7:34) sound phenomenal, my personal take from the whole song.
