Jack, this is very helpful. Thx for that wonderful and simple idea to implement "recallable tone control" to the MS-3 as a feature. This comes great with the AMP1, where EQ cannot be stored and recalled. Love it!
Thank you for the learning, Jack. Very handy knowledge including the minus handling, not only mentioning the what's not there - but also the solution hoping BOSS Corp will watch this video, too! Cheers!
Yeah I know that a lot of people get frustrated with the trails function in the unit. But there is a way around that by using current number, maybe that could be my next video...
mate no one does these videos I will watch literally everyone that you put up :P For a music noob its a bit of a nightmare to figure it all out and this kind of video really helps
Making the most with the gear you already have, rather than complaining about it and buying and selling four other devices for minimal results. Thanks! BTW, what model is that guitar??? It looks like the ultimate paul/rick/prs!
For sure! No problem. It’s a PRS SE Semi Hollow Custom. I’ve upgraded the pickups to house of tone pickups p90s and the bridge to a Wilkinson stoptail. Great guitar!
Hey Jack - I remember you from Matt's site - Great video on the MS-3 here! I have one that I picked up and am having an issue with the editor which I believe is a system incompatibility. My MS-3 is version 1.05 which I believe is too new a version to be recognized by my Mac running OS version 10.13.6. I have installed the proper driver on the Mac, but I don't know how to go to an earlier firmware on the Boss unit. Even a factory resent apparently maintains the current firmware. Any ideas? - thanks
Hey James, That’s really odd, unfortunately I no longer have the unit so can’t do some digging around to find out what’s going on. My iMac was pretty old (2012) and it ran it okay, however it did often crash. In the end I tried to just adjust things on the unit and get familiar with the onboard controls as that would be most useful for me in a gig setting. One thing you could do is reinstall the ms3 editor on your computer and see if that does anything? I don’t think having an updated unit will cause the editor to not recognise it. Maybe have a look on the boss website to see if there’s any installation help? There’s also a great MS3 Facebook group with a good community there too who may be able to help further. The MS3 is a great unit, it’s just a shame that Boss didn’t really update it that much and left it behind. There’s a few gripes that I had personally with the unit that potentially would have persuaded me to keep it. Hope that helps?
I was going to get an MS-3 and just use my GFI Cabzeus Stereo. That unit is amazing but works best with a preamp pedal. Question is, can i set up the MS-3, the preamp pedal, and my Cabzeus with the 4-cable method? I prefer the delays, tremolo, chorus, and reverb between the preamp pedal and the Cabzeus (like a "faux FX loop", if you get what i mean) Boss should be able to upgrade the firmware with some sort of amp/cab sim, no?
Hey Matt, Yeah you should absolutely be able to do that. You’d just have to place the cabzeus in a loop and then move the effects that you wanted after that loop.
@@jacktaylorguitarist Thanks mate, but I guess I would need two loops to run it stereo - or just place it after the MS-3, like one would a real amp+cab. That should work, yeah?
@@mattgilbert7347 I think so yeah! Best just to give it a shot and try. Worse that can happen is that you don’t like one way and then you just try another!

Thank you!
happy to see this! worked great for scratch tracks before recording!
nice! please make more vids on the ms3!
Will do! What type of videos would you like to see?
Hi Jack, I have to tell you that you did a good job, it works great :)
Thank you!
Really good video! I came to the MS3 from the TC Nova System which had a Simulation function. This and trails is the only thing the unit is missing.
Yeah I know that a lot of people get frustrated with the trails function in the unit. But there is a way around that by using current number, maybe that could be my next video...
Learned a lot. Thanks
Glad to hear it!

I'm with you finding it very difficult getting around the MS3 having never used boss multi fx
Dude, amazing video 🤯🤯🤯
Thanks dude!
Thank you, it really helps.
Sub 134. What can I say, I dig the blues!

Hi,
Could you tell me how you setup the Global EQ Parameter in the System Menu on MS 3?
Thanks in advance.
Alex
Check out the link at 12:37, that should help!

I only watch ms3 vid bc my sy1000 came with it effects section.
That's NOT a cabinet simulator. Just simple equalisation that can be done same way on every smart FX device.
Yeah man he explains that in detail in the video 😂
