I remember the first time I heard this track, I didn't know what to do with myself, it was just such a swell of emotion. Not gonna lie, shed a tear or two. Liturgy are now a firm favourite of mine.
This was awesome. Definitely black metal, but more in-line with the post/experimental/shoegaze-y black metal. Perhaps the biggest influence (or similarity at least) I hear is Deathspell Omega, especially their penchant for whirlwinds of dissonance. However, this band (or track, at least) has more "post/gaze" elements that add some beauty. Even within the "dissonant whirlwind" parts you can pick out some parts that are more beautiful and melodic. Whatever the genre, I really appreciate how dense this is, it's almost overwhelming at times and I think that's a positive here. Black metal IMO is at its best when it can reach those epic, even abstractly emotional, heights.
Liturgy is black metal, they incorporate it with other genres though and fit in more with bands like Deafheaven and Krallice than the corpse paint black metal that most people are used to. They're also a very philosophical band.
Clean up the saints and wipe the blossoms Stage a coup in Evangelion Virginity! Clay of my mouth, arise! Hold seven solar systems in my hand Kiss them and lick them with my little tongue God of love, you granted me a swarm of bees God of love, you took the Kaaba through the gash Swan on the surface, arise! Weeping little cosmos, announce! Call of the lambs on the rise Soft little hand, let go Child in a cape, take charge Eyes of the wooly lamb, well up Bray at the nebula of Christ Hold my teeming hand
Gorgeous opening into the song, but I wish those elements were more present in the rest of the track. Black metal normally isn't my go-to genre, but for the most part I enjoyed this one, and I especially liked the tone switchups that started halfway through the song. In classic black metal fashion, though, even with the lyrics pulled up side-by-side, I had no idea where the vocalist was XD
you must be bamboozled by the blast. the guitars pick up the same chord progression that the strings introduced. that's the whole point of it. it's a classical exposition, both literally and figuratively. then it gets progressively deconstructed and glitched out until it reaches the counterpoint in the 5/4 breakdown section.
Hi i am alex i am from Romania and if i can request some folk metal Romanian the band its called E-AN-NA and you can check any of their songs if you will like
This track is indescribable

First time I heard Liturgy it was like standing in an alien wind storm.
Really refreshing.
Thank you for holding to the end. YES.

Liturgy, Dawn of Ash is what remember in 03. Brutal Death Metal!
I’M OBSESSED
Clean up the saints and wipe the blossoms
Stage a coup in Evangelion
Virginity!
Clay of my mouth, arise!
Hold seven solar systems in my hand
Kiss them and lick them with my little tongue
God of love, you granted me a swarm of bees
God of love, you took the Kaaba through the gash
Swan on the surface, arise!
Weeping little cosmos, announce!
Call of the lambs on the rise
Soft little hand, let go
Child in a cape, take charge
Eyes of the wooly lamb, well up
Bray at the nebula of Christ
Hold my teeming hand
Lyrics are probably the weakest part of Liturgy's songs
@@bartuomyej Allow me to disagree.

This would likely be considered post black metal. [Though there's a lot of variety in post black. Not all of it is like this.]
Love that band
This was awesome!
(Emphasis is on the 'i' in "liturgy" 🙂)

I do think it's awesome musician wise but the dynamics made it a little dull. I wish they would've build up and more.
