"When you live by the sword, you die by the sword." - Buddy Baker This is one of my favorite NASCAR finishes of all-time, and it's from my favorite Winston Cup season, that being 2000.
Cannot tell you how many times I have to tell myself that when I'm doing iRacing 😂😂😂 I'm not necessarily aggressive but I will move someone out of the way if I'm faster and they won't let me by.
I remember watching this race on Monday morning and then going to work. (Glad I worked night shift back then.) I was a huge Earnhardt fan and my dad was still upset about how Dale took out Terry Labonte at Bristol the year before. When Mayfield bumped Dale out of the way, my dad was ecstatic. My dad passed away on May 14th and watching all these old races bring back a lot of memories of watching them with him.
Solid broadcast; Eli & Buddy just talking about what's happening, adding insight & context, and embellishing when there's not much happening. Great job of mentioning everyone on the track as well, starting with the leader and working their way around the sequence of cars. I know top teams were already commanding sponsorship at $10-15 million per year, but NASCAR seemed so much simpler and more fun back in 2000.
Loved that finish! Yes, I miss Dale may he RIP, but there is nothing here to apologize for. Great Quote: If you ain't living on the edge, your taking up too much space and Dale on the finger, he's number one:)
As an Earnhardt fan, this one pissed me off and was so frustrating cause he got so close, he won this race it might have been enough to win that 8th championship that year and he needed this win. I can't fault Mayfield Dale would have done the same thing, he'd be the first to admit it. I thought despite the finger gesture he was relatively good natured about it. You win some you lose some Dale never should have let him get that close, he just got careless.
I don’t understand how Mayfield gained so much ground on Dale off of turn 2. It looked like Jeremy wasn’t even gonna get to him until then, that was such a sudden shift in the outcome.
Yet another race where Rusty’s poor pit strategy cost him a win. Didn’t stay on top of the adjustments and should’ve taken 2 tires at the end. Story of the 2000 season.
when you think life is a hammer, everything is a nail. But more important could you imagine winning and getting flipped off by Dale Sr......and how much fun that would be

That season was my very first full season. Atlanta finish hooked me for life.

Told him he was #1 😆

One of the greatest and most hilarious finishes in nascar. You live by the sword you die by the sword...great comment by Buddy Baker
A bright spot in Mayfield's bad 2000 season.
He also won at Fontana.
Yea he was in position to have at least 4 or 5 wins yet crashes and engine issues all year for a team that was as fast as the 2 was.
2:47:50 I miss Buddy Baker's laugh

man he had the 2000 season with a crazy back pain. had surgery in dec. was ready for battle for the 8th in 2001
He already had his surgery the year prior before The 2000 Season started Gain On Ten
I tell you hwat. That was one of the cleanest bump and run wins in the history of NASCAR.
Jeremy took a page out of old Ernest P. Worrell's playbook, "Just wanted to rattle his cage, knowwhatimean?"
Im a diehard SR fan. But Jeremy beating him at his own game was great. Dale deep down was proud of Jeremy.
Mayfield almost celebrated too early- Jarrett/Rudd nearly caught him at the finish
Earnhardt deserved it so much hahaha
What could he say after the race?? He wouldve done the same thing lol
57:09 lmao
Mayfield seemed to always perform in clutch moments. Prime example when he won Richmond to make the chase.
Earnhardt got Earnhardted! Haha wow what an end to a race.
Miss Eli Gold and all those great announcers😥

Loved when A Ford beat him

2:49:50 Mayfield that day collected more wins than this flag ever got lol
Someone is having fun in that truck
Did not look to me like Mayfield touched him
Earnhardt reeks of a Trump supporter. Dishes it out but can't take it.
I hope not 😕
He took to find here lol. He literally admitted hed do the same thing if he was in the position 🤣 trump doesnt even know what an admission is lmao
Shut up

Trump is a bootlicker but how rent free he is in the radical left's minds is astonishing
