"nice argument. however i have already portrayed myself as the sleek FDR bullet train and you as the seething coal locomotive."
Autism moment: that's a streamliner not a bullet train.
They're both steam powered actually.

Stylistically, this short looks way ahead of its time, it doesn't look like it was made in the 40s, but rather in the mid 50s.

It across did come out in 1944 because this was made for Roosevelt's 4th term during the midst of WWII
Actually... It's based on a special train that actually existed. It was call the "Million Dollar Rexall" train from 1936. The Rexall Drug Store (which no longer exists) teamed up with the New York Central railroad for a special products promotion train that toured the country. The locomotive was a 4-8-2 "Mohawk" class locomotive #2873 temporarily dressed in streamline covering. It was painted blue and white with the same "shovel nose" appearance in the front. Each car had a specific job or promoted a new product. (Similar to the cartoon). Also, the locomotive was converted from burning coal to a more efficient from of fuel oil at the time. The train ran for almost a year before the streamline covering was removed and the train went back into regular service for the railroad.
It might've also been based upon the Reading Crusader which was also in the same streamlined casing
Here from the FDR bullet train meme.
It's interesting that Roosevelt would be re-elected in1944,but he wouldn't be able to live through his next term.
I have a mental picture of a Truman Train carrying a nuke
Even Obama had gray hair and looked 20 years older than when he went in. It must be the hardest job and the biggest responsibility in the world. That FDR could last as long as he did was amazing. Especially since he couldn’t walk. But he had what it took. The generation we’ve got coming up now can’t even flip burgers. My dad was born in 1944 and had quit school and was working in the log woods driving a skidder by the time he was 16
Reedy bears were made when Theodore Roosevelt refused to shoot a bear that was caught and chained to a tree saying it was “Unsportsman ship.”
Do you think he would have dropped the bombs or maybe he would have dropped more?

When I was a boy, my mother would constantly say "hell bent for election" when trying make a point. I finally understand...
Instead of the OK sign, Joe should have used the V sign, which meant "victory" during WW2. It could have also meant "vote"!

It's the thing we're fighting for
Fighting for, fighting for

We'll keep our production running
So go and tell your neighbor
That the New World Special is a-coming!

So get your reservation now
For a greater nation now
Get your reservation now!
How? VOTE!

And finally, barring a scene in joes daydream 💭 where it looks 👀 sad ☹️, the win the war special locomotives 🚂 face does not change at all. It stays the same throughout the short.
