These 10 Etsy Tips helped me make my first $100,000 on Etsy when I was a beginner. My Etsy shop then grew to a million-dollar Etsy shop. I hope these lessons I learned help you on your Etsy journey.

Very good information! I’ve been struggling but one of my items has become popular and has started pushing my listings higher. I tried the shotgun method for a couple listings and that didn’t produce much results. I didn’t think about what category they were in so all the same. I’ll for sure try this and change categories for each one! Here’s to my first 100k!! I’m at about $500-$700 a month and to do that every day would be excellent! Thanks for your honesty!! Etsy is NOT a get rich quick thing. It’s a lot of research and hard work!

I make about the same but I’m only selling supplies around three dollars so I need to figure out something that sells for more that I can sell.
Something I have seen in my own numbers that's not emphasized (by anyone) nearly enough is be in your store just about every day. I don't know what the magic number is--whether it's every day, or more days than not, or once per week--but I do know that when I stopped working in my shop (i.e. posting new listings or tweaking old ones--what I call "tidying up"), my sales dropped down noticeably. And that was during the Christmas rush when they should have been growing exponentially. And that was with paid ads. I didn't do anything different other than not be in my store. (I have a POD store, so that's why I don't have to be in it frequently.)
After a couple of months of working in my store 5 or 6 days a week, my views and sales both were higher in May than they were in either January or February when I was still running ads on one of my products.
Put up a new listing more days than not. If you don't have anything new to list or haven't got time to make a new listing, then tidy up. From what I've heard, Etsy takes notice if you adjust your title, keywords, pictures, or description. And, in fact, they will give your listing a little boost (just like it was a new listing) to test it and see where it needs to go now that you've changed the parameters of it. Adjusting your banner, shop policies, logo, etc. storefront items also supposedly counts towards working in your store and keeps Etsy happy.
If you talking about theis past christmas, everyone felt lower sales. The Etsy market is slowing down since the covid ramp up.
Have you ever considered whether your customers perceive it as spam when you repeatedly post the same item?

As a woodworker, or really any crafts person, focusing on products for babies is very risky. At least within the US, anything sold for use by children has extremely stringent regulations surrounding every aspect of it, so do your research, consult your lawyer, and approach with caution! A lawsuit because a baby hurt themselves somehow with your product, developed some irritation, or worse, is always a possibility, so make sure you know what you're getting into.
Yeah that's why he and anyone doing this to make money say to have liability insurance because it's cheap anyway

I retired early a few years ago, and I'm bored out of my mind now. I may want to try this instead of getting another job.
How you pick only one niche and build it let's say two years if you don't know how this will perform? Since there is so many niches and POD products, how to choose one? Or why not to run multiple stores?
I put the name of my store and “Not for printing” on my digital journal pages because one of my listings was getting a ton of views but no purchases even with a sale. One of my friends went to it and she clicked on one of the photos blew it up and just printed it so basically people are able to get it for free. Does anyone else consider this? Should I go back and take that off? I definitely don’t want my listing suppressed.

Pretty much! I use the KISS method, people try to complicate things too much.
@@cutting-it-close that they do. Moved here to the PNW in the US from the UK 15 years ago and I see the same issues I've seen all over the world. Always comes down to someone overcomplicating something that should have been identified before the project even began. But at the beginning of projects people take some weird "comfort" in someone that speaks in a complicated manner. That's the death of any project/programme. Well done sir. Tip 10 and Tip 8 seem a bit contradictory

I'm a big fan of yours. I make cutting boards as well. My larger ones are 20x12x1.5" so similar to yours but no customization/laser engraving. The board feet cost in raw material alone for the walnut at $16.00 a foot at approximately 4 board feet a board is $64. Add in glue, wear and tear on the machines, packaging costs, and Etsy's cut and now my raw costs are more than what you are selling your boards for. I'd lose money if I sold at your prices and that's even if I was doing them for free labor. How in the world can anyone compete??? Nothing against you, I'm just genuinely curious how in the hell anyone can sell on Etsy when there are multiple companies out there selling finished products for less than my material costs??
Take a look at your walnut cost, you can cut those cost down quite a bit. But let’s say you cannot, then I would look at going the high end board route where material cost is irrelevant. I’m about high numbers lower margins, you can be about lower numbers higher margin. At the minimum you should be able to cut your BF cost roughly in half.
Not sure where you are that walnut is that high. Suggest to find a local rough cut mill and then plane down raw material. I was getting black walnut at $6 a bf but now it’s about $8 a bf kiln dried. Search for mills that are near you and see if it’s worth planing down your own materials
@@cutting-it-close I don’t know how to when I’m not buying at volume but yes, I’m trying to create higher end products, however, walnut is walnut and comparing your boards to mine there is no choice. Go with the less expensive (by far). I have different designs etc of course but the problem remains. Anyway, I appreciate you taking the time reply. It’s a frustrating business for sure. I’m trying to create handcrafted products that take an immense amount of time and sell them in a high production industry. Not a good business decision lol.
It’s possible to do it though! I would take time and do a lot of research on how and where you can get cheaper material, then you can start competing much easier!

You have to be unique in some way, if you cannot be cheap then create designer cutting boards using unique woods. Do not compete head ti head with the mass producers!

Have you done this and is there a market for this or better off selling hard goods? I have managed to sell a handful of my designs and CNC files, and its cool to receive money for this, but I think the market is limited to the people who only own CNC machines. Thanks again!

There is a lot of good people out there that want to help but there are a few that want to hurt, so I do not show my Etsy shop because some people just want to destroy good things.

Does it worth to be on etsy after 100k profit?
It just depends on what your other sources of revenue are, if you are only on Etsy and making 100K a year, I would have a strategy in place to get off of it eventually, but I would not quit and go back to zero.

Just curious, what is keeping people from making exactly what you are making? Do you have copyrights or anything? Seriously interested in investing in a CNC business myself but trying to figure out what product I could sell all while keeping people from selling the exact same thing I'd be selling.
