- Float out of Norwegian Joy at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany on March 4, 2017. The Norwegian Joy is 333.46 m long, 41.4 m wide and has a gross-tonnage of 167,725 gt. She is the biggest vessel in the fleet of Norwegian Cruise Line (at the date of publication).

Da hat sich das warten gelohnt! Hammer Video mit tollen Aufnahmen und passender Musik. Super Zeitraffer sind das, besonders der mit dem Kran. Ist mal was anderes. Und das Ende mit dem Anfang der Überführung ist natürlich Klasse. Daumen hoch für die Arbeit.

Today however there is no joy for the Norwegian Joy.
NCL designed this ship from the get go with the intention of it becoming NCL's 1st purpose built/designed cruise ship for a then emerging mainland Chinese tourist cruise market, which at the time of design, the consultants who were advising NCL were telling them they believed that untapped Chinese tourist market was going to be just huge.
Well that's the problem with relying on hired consultants you know, they will always tell you anything you want to hear.....and in the NCL Joy's case,.. the Chinese cruise tourist market then proceeded to collapse...Big Time.
Just last month Norwegian Cruise Lines stated they were pulling this ship from its Asian routes, and stated NCL will instead be sending the Joy into dry dock for retrofitting (a lot of Asian cultural decor needs to now go away) and then the ship will be renamed (name escapes me at the moment-sorry), and re-home ported back in the US I believe.
What a shame, let the Chinese build their own cruise ships,then they can plaster it their own dialect.

It's actually just Meyer shipyard. Werft means shipyard and Meyer is the name of the shipyard.

This was just the float out. The ship still undergoes construction while out of the hangar. Lifeboats are usually added last.
