why do people run the fear in T3 with hellfire coilgun? isn't it counterintuitive? don't you want to stun them so they stay in your damaging trail for longer? And also, in the last tear for the coil gun you said to use electricity, but now you say to use larger trail?
Honestly, even though the ideas probably transfer to all the other classes, I’d love to see videos for them just to get thoughts on what kinds of pairings are good for them, just because this one was so entertaining
I think there's surprisingly little overlap - engi aligns with this relatively well, but the existence of the breach cutter really does muck it all up. Driller and scout are entirely different ballgames, though. Driller's a little uninteresting to talk about because you have a bunch of combo setups that force weapons into both slots while having largely untransformative OCs, and TCF, which is a clear best in slott black box option that doesn't interact with anything. Scout is reallllly werd to talk about though, in general. His overclocks on weapons that are not M1K or the Boltshark tend to tweak the builds themselves a lot to accomplish the same thing as a whole. More confounding than that, though, is that there's little to no cross-slot interaction, at least in terms of the playstyles I'd consider strongest. You take specific primaries to do specific things and take specific secondaries to do other specific things and you don't really care about being well-rounded (all that much) because worst comes to worst, you just spend a nade and/or zip away. I definitely do want to make an engi video, but I really don't know how I'd even go about Driller and Scout in any interesting way.
@@pvewaste Yeah I've got Driller pretty much figured out, Sticky Fuel or Fuel Stream Diffuser CRSPR plus Persistent Plasma TCF are the strongest for most cases. I wonder though when to bring Volatile Impact Mixture, Disperser Compound or Ice Storm/Ice Spear and which secondaries except PP TCF pair with them. Gaming Existence has a pretty decent M1000 video that you could refer people to. Maybe you could discuss these classes in terms of specific weapons instead of builds, then.
@@pvewasteI think it would be nice to talk about all of this not just in context of what's generally good, but speaking with respect to the mission type. Great intro to gunner on modded haz! I'm a bigger fan of gameplay heavy videos, but to be fair I already play modded games, I think these edit-heavy vids are probably better for info-dumping for those just getting into modded haz. I'm a bit surprised you didn't talk about how much VB and Sticky Fuel together define the "normal" 6x2 comp, maybe something for another video? It feels so constricting sometimes, I love sludge (way more than sticky) but it doesn't synergize with VB. I love Cryo bolts, but they don't synergize with VB as well as Boomstick. I love Aggressive Venting, but it doesn't feel as good for VB as Hot Bullets. I'd love to spam more BC shots with Light Weight Cases, but it doesn't work with VB like Inferno does. Comment is long 'cause writing it as watching the video. Definitely a very informative, and well organised video! I like this style a lot. I like the grenade explanation, it's matched up with my experience pretty well. Though with CC generalist builds, I've found some success with sticky nades in the more generalist style builds, offers enough extra CC for crowds while also being very disruptive to high priority targets. Especially nice with HB burning hell. And leadbursters are great with AV burning hell, they hand bulks well and just feel like they offer way more flexibility in terms of what they can be used for. I see you're building VB the correct way with 23321, and not the blasphemous 21311. I had never considered running mine layer + hellfire, but now I need to give it a go and see how it stacks up. I do have to ask, how do you tend to use electrominelets for the BRT? Shoot in front of the approaching swarm, try and get blowthrough value...? Whenever I've tried it it just feels solidly 'meh', and like I'm using it wrong.
I rarely go for blowthrough value with minelets, rather I just make fast sweeping motions ahead of the pack. Also, I'm glad to see another 21311 VB hater.
Extremely well presented. I like both gameplay focused videos and this more discussion-heavy format. You do both very well, and the graphics on this one were very slick and made it easier to understand what you're talking about.
Honestly I used carpet bomber again recently and was pleasantly surprised. It’s not ntp and I dont take fear so no crowd control, but it also does incredibly good damage to crowds anyway
Awesome video. Would love to see a breakdown for each class! Also appreciate the choice of background music, Future Club (Perturbator) is my favourite electronic track of all time. Cheers from Canada.
astonishingly good video, i saw you said itd be hard to do this with a couple of the other classes and that makes sense but id love to see a breakdown of the weapons and some potential pairings even if its a little less interesting than the loadout breadth gunner has
Note about all ricochet OC's, they all have intresting interaction with penetration mods, for example when shooting at enemies with a minigun with ricochet and penetrate, additional bullets fly out of enemies, one ricochets at the nearest target, the second spills through.
Hellfire is SO strong, pretty much a mandatory pick when running a single target focused primary (LSLS, BB, JFH). I love it as much as I hate it lol. One well landed shot and an entire grunt swarm is gone, while the remaining bigger targets are ripe for killing.
I got Big Bertha as one of my first OCs and never used another AC build until recently. Switching off of it for an AOE build feels like shooting enemies with water balloons.
Would like to see a similar video about the build philosophies. Maybe make a single video covering the other three classes and link back to this one for gunner. Having their team roles and what they're good at explained would be interesting. Could also use a few more weapon setups, particularly for scout as you don't give many options in the weapons tier list.
This is probably the best build video I've seen. I dropped off DRG for seasons 2 & 3 and have just got back into it and this video is amazing at working out 'The Meta' especially for jumping into those Elite Deep Dives. You might want to add 'Best Gunner builds' or 'Most OP Gunner builds' for Season 4 in the title to help with discoverability but I hope you do this for all the classes! Great job.
1. Good to see you shrugging off the shitty drama, hope you're doing better 2. Love the background music, is that hotline miami? 3. A discord server would be amazing
this channel and lazymaybe's have been an absolutely sobering look at this game's weapon balance, or lack of. for well over 1000 hours I stuck with vanilla-feeling builds, completely unaware that there's _always_ some vaguely described mod or OC that completely blows them out of the water.
Welcome back. Lovely video with great insight on gunner meta. Some choices were a bit surprising, but you explained the reasoning behind them quite nicely.
Great video as always 😍 the editing and graphics must have been a bit of an ordeal 🤣 if this turns out to be a series you work on, maybe there could also be some builds down the line for Elimination but especially Industrial Sabotage? I probably find it one of the harder missions to build for with balancing weapons for the swarms + the Caretaker's vents and eye and whether or whether not heat becomes a worthy investment depending on class 🤔
I love your videos, they're super helpful, and well explained. Can you do one on the movement tricks you use, just how you move so fast? Like, why are you bouncing on the Zipline? Why do you jump so much, etc. I'm a scrub and don't know!
Jumping around in general is good, it puts you a bit further away from grunts and such, and bunny hopping is especially useful for gunner. If you fire while you're in the air you don't lose momentum at all from the slow you get when firing. So shooting while in the air, stopping, hopping again, and firing while once more airborne lets you move around much more easily. Jumping and regrabbing the zipline repeatedly allows you to move much faster than just riding it normally.
You really dont need 2 in tier 1 neurotoxin. You can coat a horde in 10 shots and destroy it in 30. Swap to bulldog to pick off tanks. Extra 110 ammo is free. Pointless going for 220 especially with born ready. Been running this build for 2+ years. 220 in a mag is just stupidly unnecessary and adds nothing to your kill effectiveness. Whereas more ammo just lets you spam more and kill more. Also for tier 3 if you wanna kill hordes even quicker pick 2. Not single damage. Idk why you’d choose ST over AOE on the thunder. Your bulldog is for high prior dmg and the st you gain is negligible. Plus you become a mix of carpet bomber, its just much better for hordes. If you’re playing vs elites or doing dreads then by all means pick the ST dmg otherwise AOE. Peace
Not to mention you have fear, so theres never a dire need to melt something with your thunder. It’ll die on its own and if its too big you shouldnt be using the thunder but your elephant rounds.
Oh my god. How perfect for me right now, struggling to sleep at 3 am, down two ciders, and absolutely too hammered to even think straight on a build. Thank god you exist Waste, don't know what I'd do in deep rock without you (aside from die...)
So i tried secondaries for the autocannon. And the brrt with yellow dmg to 33 a shot ONESHOT praetoreans. The 3rd bullet just killed everything as long as all 3 hit the weakspot. It may even be a bug where the 3rd bullet stun gets wrongly calculated damage. Oppressors in 2 bursts. It does more than a maxed out mole. That's haz4+5 It was meant for anti flying and the red barragers but my god the 3rd bullet is basically a fire revolver
The way I see it is unless you are taking volatile bullets coilgun is always the best. Also anytime I run vb there is inevitably a cryo driller or scout I am paired with lol. Basically just always go coilgun in pubs
I like the autocannon even though it kinda sucks! Then again I do play on haz 3 so my opinion is meaningless lmao. I also liked the new video style! Harder for me to get distracted by gameplay when it's less prominent, but I can accomplish the same thing by just looking away and listening, so it's up to you if you want to keep doing this in the future.
PBM is an overclock where ammo = damage since they hit multiple times. The damage you get from being able to unload more rockets probably outweighs the damage from taking the other mod?
"wasting" ammo to get more rockets in the air for faster, higher dps will generally be more value than maximizing the damage from missiles already in the air, for solo i'd say damage is prob better
Personally so far i prefer a damage focused bulldog, primarily because I usually reserve the minigun for swarms and protos. I use the 3,2,1,2,1 minigun build and a 2,1,3,2,2 and neurotoxin bullets for more damage I don't have that many rounds for the bulldog anyways.
Personally iv been running 32112, compact feed mechanism minigun and 23322 six shooter bulldog. I run ammo mods for the revolver so i can use it as primary and save the minigun for large groups. I was originally running aggressive venting for the leadstorm but swapped to cool as the grave became i was very rarely if at all ever firing long enough to overheat the gun.
@@suhg4317 i never fire long enough to overheat the gun, but cold as the grave allows me to be a little more trigger happy. Considering i usually end missions having barely used my minigun. I treat the revolver more like a primary than the minigun. Hot bullets doesn't fo any until you reach half heat and if im firing long enough to get there then i want to keep the gun cool with CATG
PBM my beloved 😍 Gunner has so many fun overclocks but the ludicrous dps and safety of PBM permastun is just too much to pass on for me. The missile control comes really naturally to me so thats a plus.
Amazing breakdown with very good editing. However, the blurred rotating background footage when you're showing the table and not gameplay is really disorienting.
I really like 13232 lead spray BRT7 because it is incredibly good for caretaker, dreadnoughts, and praetorians. going off of what you've said in this video i assume a good pairing would be NTP or minelayer right?

Could also use a few more weapon setups, particularly for scout as you don't give many options in the weapons tier list.
Super helpful and well constructed.
Thank you for teaching us the ways of the gun-fu 🙏
hotline miami music is insanely based
This is great. Would love to see the other 3 Classes done in the same style.
Best video guides on this game by far.
Great job.
Babe I can't get in bed, waste dropped a comprehensive gunner build guide.
He returns. And with a fire hose of information lol 👍👍👍
BIS video on DRG builds
Really looking forward to other classes breakdown
I hope to see the other classes! Well done
1. Good to see you shrugging off the shitty drama, hope you're doing better
2. Love the background music, is that hotline miami?
3. A discord server would be amazing
Mhm, it's the HM2 soundtrack!
Great video, looking forward to watching more
thanks waste, now i know almost everything about gunner builds
13:41 smh 21321 VB is the way
17:46 nice carpenter brut from here and on out
this channel and lazymaybe's have been an absolutely sobering look at this game's weapon balance, or lack of.
for well over 1000 hours I stuck with vanilla-feeling builds, completely unaware that there's _always_ some vaguely described mod or OC that completely blows them out of the water.
incredible stuff my man
I like your funny numbers magic man
Great summary of gunner
I needed this. Thanks
The audio is a bit quiet, but great vid!
Welcome back. Lovely video with great insight on gunner meta. Some choices were a bit surprising, but you explained the reasoning behind them quite nicely.
Hey I’m a new drg player and i love all the content! Would love a similar video on the driller
Great video as always 😍 the editing and graphics must have been a bit of an ordeal 🤣 if this turns out to be a series you work on, maybe there could also be some builds down the line for Elimination but especially Industrial Sabotage? I probably find it one of the harder missions to build for with balancing weapons for the swarms + the Caretaker's vents and eye and whether or whether not heat becomes a worthy investment depending on class 🤔
hmmmm, very epic, very interesting.
One bit people forget is sticky grenades fear praetorions to easily get some back shots and breathing room.
Could you do one of these for the 3 other classes too? They're very well put together and easy to understand!
These videos are so fucking nice
Rewatxhing the video and noticed the Carpenter Brut. Love it.
@@w1q2e3r4t5Worth noting that the zipline regrab is affected by ping, so it's usually only worth doing as host if you wanna go real fast
great vid, glad I found your channel
This would be cool for all other classes
Thats why you pick AOE instead of the silly 4 extra dmg or whatever it is
Oh my god. How perfect for me right now, struggling to sleep at 3 am, down two ciders, and absolutely too hammered to even think straight on a build. Thank god you exist Waste, don't know what I'd do in deep rock without you (aside from die...)
Nothing like talking about the most optimal stuff in the game with the play footage consists of 120+ FOV, particles and ragdoll removal.
MORTAR ROUNDS!!!! RAAHHHHHH!!! 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
So i tried secondaries for the autocannon. And the brrt with yellow dmg to 33 a shot
ONESHOT praetoreans. The 3rd bullet just killed everything as long as all 3 hit the weakspot.
It may even be a bug where the 3rd bullet stun gets wrongly calculated damage.
Oppressors in 2 bursts. It does more than a maxed out mole.
That's haz4+5
It was meant for anti flying and the red barragers but my god the 3rd bullet is basically a fire revolver
Harder for me to get distracted by gameplay when it's less prominent, but I can accomplish the same thing by just looking away and listening, so it's up to you if you want to keep doing this in the future.
im kind of curious of why taking ammo in t1 is preferred over the damage mod with plasma burster missiles
If you never find yourself having overheating issues with minigun then cold as the grave is doing nothing for you, try hot bullets
ELECTRO MINELETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love magic bullets for haz5 but for modded hellfire is just the way to go! And minelayer is my favorite oc for modded
PBM my beloved 😍 Gunner has so many fun overclocks but the ludicrous dps and safety of PBM permastun is just too much to pass on for me. The missile control comes really naturally to me so thats a plus.
Awesome, loving it!
Amazing breakdown with very good editing.
However, the blurred rotating background footage when you're showing the table and not gameplay is really disorienting.
I, err, like your funny words magic man!
Hey probably a repetitive comment here, but this was an amazing video and it'd be awesome if you had 1 of these for each class.
What's the name of the music track used at around 5:00? It's a great song that fits with a great video :D
putting salvo module below rocket barrage made me actually cry
I really like 13232 lead spray BRT7 because it is incredibly good for caretaker, dreadnoughts, and praetorians. going off of what you've said in this video i assume a good pairing would be NTP or minelayer right?
The minigun + hellfire build i usually run exhaust vectoring just for that extra mobility
