    Thank you for your honest review. I am a beginner and got this machine for Christmas so this video is a huge help!!

    Thanks for the black button tutorial and the in depth, honest review of the machine. I have had 2 Brother machines in the past. The 1st one was a work horse: powerful, dependable, unbreakable. I loved it. The 2nd one was a much more recent model, and was very disappointing. Not only did it have some of the same issues you had, it had a terrible vibration if I went above medium speed. I was so disappointed.

    I use this machine. It's amazing for a little machine. I sew bags with vinyl, foam, interfacing. I've sewn a huge travel bag on this. It copes with the thicker threads that other domestics don't do well with, as long as the correct needle is used. It also does well with thin more delicate projects. For its size and price I can't fault it.
    Love it.
    Though brother customer service have really given me trouble over the last few weeks for a different machine. Still not sorted.

      Hi Nicki, I’m very fussy. I like to see good, even stitches and it has to be perfect. I could also tell from the high pitch sound, the machine was straining through certain sections. It may have been the machine I received. But I’m saddened to hear your machine hasn’t been sorted. It’s been weeks hasn’t it?

    • @nickilee9822
      @nickilee9822 3 года назад +2

      @@AbisDen yes. Weeks. I called them, sat in a queue for ages which eventually went through to a machine to leave a message. I did that twice. Someone eventually called me back but I missed the call so I called them back. Someone answered that time but said I had to speak to the specific person who called me who wasn't available. Said they would call me back but haven't. Next time I call I'm not going to be so nice. 3 calls and no one has listened to the issue yet.
      I haven't noticed an issue with uneven stitches on the strong and tough. I use either a teflon foot or a walking foot with vinyl and a microtex needle . Ive turned up jeans and it's sewed nicely over the side bulky bit.

    Just re-read my message regarding using denim and I might of not explained it correctly. I meant to say that denim was the thickest material I used with this machine and did handle it alright. I just haven’t tried anything thicker than that with the machine. :)
    Loved this machine and only got rid of it due to upgrading.
    One think I noted during your video is that I’m pretty sure my machine came in the box with polystyrene and not bubble wrap. Also my needle never got stuck like that.

    • @AbisDen
      @AbisDen  3 года назад +1

      I am fairly sure Amazon sent me a used machine, I’ve never had a machine sent to me like that before, but I thought I’d go ahead with it anyway. Thanks Mitchell. I’m a fuss pot, I like to see good stitching, it was that you reminded me to consider denim too. Thanks again !

    • @Normit08
      @Normit08 3 года назад +1

      @@AbisDen I’m quite fussy too. Because of two incidents in the past with Argos and Amazon I just assume anything sent to me now is someone else’s repackaged item. It’s a horrible mentality to have :(

    • @nickilee9822
      @nickilee9822 3 года назад +1

      Same, mine had polystyrene inserts in the box and my needle isn't stuck like that. I didn't receive those bobbins on my amazon purchase. Though I bought this over nearly 2 years ago.

    Thanks for this review. It is a disappointing machine. You really do help people, especially beginners, to look for the good things and the pit falls of a machine. I was amazed at how much plastic there was in the box. I bought a used embroidery machine from Brother and it was packed with polystyrene which presents it's own problems but it is working perfectly after a sticky start due to it being very fussy about which needles I use! A beginner would have sent the machine back! I have found that machines do seem to have their preferences, especially with needles, which can be difficult to detect for a beginner but can make such a difference to tension and stitch out. Perhaps this machine would not be the best for a beginner. The Necchi one you reviewed was much better in my opinion.

      Только сегодня получила такую из коробки, все точно так как здесь показано. Очень разочарована. И иглы все любые тоже не вынимаются. Не понравилась совсем машина. За такую стоимость очень плохо😢. А ещё петлю делает ужасно как ни настраивай и ткань не меняй. Просто очень очень плохо ☹️ 👎 👎

    So was it second hand or new not sure either??

    • @AbisDen
      @AbisDen  3 года назад +1

      I strongly suspect it was a return - brother always use polystyrene and blue tape on their machines. However, I spoke to a dealer and they agree, it will have been checked and approved before sold so even though it may have been a return - it’s sold as new

    the cheapest singer machines have a power of 70w. It's the only thing I don't like about brother. In all or most of the machines they use very low power motors. thanks for your video I thought about this option but seeing it in action I better discard it.

    Thanks Abi, viewed this review along with the Necchi heavy duty machine. Wow! What a disappointment the brother machine is compared to the other brand for a similar price point. No extension table either. Good reviews with comprehensive testing. May I be bold and say I would have liked you to be more prescriptive in your comments of the machines. I know it's to keep things objective, but I value your opinion and I feel newer sewers need a bit more 'guidance' from an experienced person like you. Hope you don't mind me saying that.

    Pretty difficult to hear you speaking. Really low volume. As far as the machine, I love it. That stuck needle is probably why it was a re-package. Mine slipped right out. I think that one was forced in backwards and got stuck, and the customer sent it back. Just my guess. And the thread was definitely a bonus that they threw in for you.

    • @AbisDen
      @AbisDen  2 года назад +1

      Thank you - I agree, I have started using a mic for the audio - but I think this machine is just generally pants. This thread is very cheap, but I think its good to attract purchases. I don't think it was meant to be included in this case though, having worked with Brother for a few years, it's not something they do, even to make a £3000 sale.

    What a disappointing machine. It looks no better than my 130 machine that hates thick layers and gives uneven stitching even with the leveling button. Thanks for the review, I think the Necchi that you showed looks so much better.

      Agreed! But where can we dump it? Rivers are full, land is filled. Maybe send it out to space like Elon musk’s crappy car!
